We all know that hotels aren't as forthcoming as they should be with photos of their rooms and public spaces on their websites but we still have a chuckle over the other kind of photos hotels put on their website--the totally staged shots of people doing totally random things.
The Hotel Americano caught our attention over the summer with its low-lying Japanese ryokan beds, bento boxes and wool slippers. None of which, however, relate to what the hotel really wants us to be doing during our stay there: puffing away on a cigarette in our skivvies while snuggling up to the hotel's custom-made Zanotti black vinyl bean bag chairs.
It turns out all that talk about proximity to art galleries and views of the High Line were just ways to get us in the door.

We all know that hotels aren't as forthcoming as they should be with photos of their rooms and public spaces on their websites but we still have a chuckle over the other kind of photos hotels put on their website--the totally staged shots of people doing totally random things.
Like this couple supposedly on the beach at the newly Kimptonized Surfcomber Hotel in Miami Beach. We say supposedly, because the last time we checked, we don't think there was a jetty on South Beach. That background looks more like California or Cabo. But we could be wrong.

We all know that hotels aren't as forthcoming as they should be with photos of their rooms and public spaces on their websites but we still have a chuckle over the other kind of photos hotels put on their website--the totally staged shots of people doing totally random things.
Like this "hotel guest" who is doing a little yoga all alone at the indoor rooftop pool at the Park Hyatt Beijing.
Granted, the Park Hyatt Beijing is a stunning property with killer views of the city from nearly every futuristic nook and cranny in the place and while the pool (one of two lap pools in the hotel) may not be awash in heavenly light at all times, it is pretty spectacular looking.
But still, as a hotel guest, would you just bust out into tree pose by your lonesome here? Hey, maybe you would. Rates at the hotel start at $350 a night for a Park Room King if you want to give it a try.

How Kate Middleton Helped Sexify The Goring Hotel in London
It's no secret that the royals love The Goring Hotel in London. After all, that's where Kate Middleton spent her last night as a free woman before marrying Prince William in April. It's also where Prince Harry partied a little too hardy after the nuptials. But we can't help but wonder what the Queen Elizabeth would think of this sexy photoshoot for Marks & Spencers' new line of bridal lingerie. The Daily Mail reports:
The lingerie-clad girls, wearing nude heels, stockings and suspenders, were promoting M&S's new range of bridal lingerie at the Victoria hotel where Kate spent her last night as a Middleton. The vintage-inspired collection, available to buy from today, includes corsets, bras and bodices made of silk and lace.

Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian Play Naughty at The Cove at Atlantis
Bill O'Reilly may not approve of "The Graduate"-themed photoshoot that Justin Bieber and Kim Kardashian shot for Elle magazine's September issue but we're finding ourselves filled with a little bit of lust...hotel lust that is.
The shoot was done in the Bahamas at The Cove at Atlantis, the luxury property on the mega-resort. (Remember when Biebs was there for a concert a few months ago?) And judging from a few of the shots, it looks like Kim and Justin shot around one of the beach cabanas which are part of Cain at the Cove.

Racy Photoshoot at The Standard NYC Puts Shrek in Comprising Position
Scandal at The Standard! Really, scandals at The Standard Hotel in New York City shoudn't really be so shocking anymore, but this time the focus is on a cartoon menage-a-trois.
In order to celebrate the upcoming premiere of the fourth movie in the Shrek series—"Shrek: Forever and After"—the people at Dreamworks behind the kid-friendly characters made the curious choice to allow Shrek, Princess Fiona, Puss in Boots and more to appear in a photo spread with live models. The glossy results, shot by famed photographer Ellen Von Unwerth and styled by Lady Gaga's stylist Nicola Formichetti, is drawing some ire for using children's characters in adult situations.

For $525, you will get a "Boudoir Session," a sexy 45-minute photo shoot in the hotel's executive grand suite. As part of the deal, you'll get your hair and makeup did by Beauty on Call and then you'll strike a pose for professional photographers from Prêt a Poser. Hopefully, the session will include some sexy sheets too as that executive suite looks so very dull. Too many neutral colors!

The Hotel on Rivington Wants to Bring Sexy Back
We know, we know, you’ve probably all had enough of Kayne West by now, what with the news that “I’ma Let You Finish T-shirts” are now on sale. But the star of this little tale is actually his lady friend, Amber Rose.
The set? The Hotel on Rivington. The Ford Model and the Lower East Side hotel both appear in a fashion spread in the latest issue of ELLE, although the chicks over at Jezebel were dismayed that the shoot was “asinine” and “ass-centric.”

Scandal! It's Not Just Guests Getting Naked At The Standard
It's hard to believe that it's already been almost nine months since we slept at The Standard NYC, and in that time the hotel has gone from being a respite of fresh design and cool canoodling to a scenester playpen with free peepshows.
Alas, the drama continues over The Standard's very clear wall of windows and the flagrant guest nudity they reveal to the High Line pedestrians below. In fact, the daily x-rated displays are quite the hot topic in town, and leave it to the NY Post to get to the bottom of it.

Shangri-La Santa Monica Goes GQ
Mmm, Channing Tatum. Mmmm, shirtless dudes in GQ. Mmmm, Shangri-La Santa Monica.
The August issue of GQ features one of the most kickass photoshoots ever: a shirtless Channing Tatum gallivanting around the Shangri-La Santa Monica. He's in the hallways; he's in Suite 700 (and, uh, he's kinda messy in an endearing, manly kind of way) which has two bedrooms and a wrap-around terrace with one of "the best views in the world."
Photographed by Mario Testino, the hotel is, admittedly, sort of background for the Channing Tatum hotness here — and, though the property is not as prominently featured in the images as heavily as the hotel spotlighted in Annie Liebovitz's Peninsula photos, we think we can deal.

Annie Leibovitz Captures Unexpected Portraits At The Peninsula
Another year, another awesome series of portraits of the staff of Peninsula Hotels by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. It's the fifth year for the partnership between the luxury hotels and Leibovitz, and they've given her free rein to roam the Peninsula Chicago and Peninsula Tokyo properties in order to capture what truly is the spirit of the brand in its employees.
The resulting images will delight both hotel dorks and lovers of black & white photography, as we'd not only love to have the picture above hanging over our couch, but we find it moving in terms of illustrating the Peninsula's tradition of ultra-attentive service. Other pictures feature the doormen, like Chicago's lead doorman Timothy Hitchcock helping a young girl into a car, and even laundry staff and room attendants.

Standard Hotels Want A Peek At Your Naughty Photographs
Remember that glorious day when we unearthed pictures of the first nude photo shoot inside of The Standard NYC? Well, it looks like the saucy pics titillated The Standard's elitist twitterer and personality, Stan D'Arde enough to inspire a call for more, more, more!
On the Standard's blog, "Stan" cites the "voyeuristic sex" appeal of the beds atop the Standard Downtown LA and the chicquarium in the lobby of the Standard West Hollywood. The completely clear windows of the Standard New York continue this tradition and frankly, the Standard itself would now like a piece of the action.
So send them your naughty snaps taken in the hotel, by email or Facebook. Heaven knows what he'll do with them, but then heaven really should avert its eyes right about now.
