Five On Instagram: The Best Hotel Photos from the Month of October

With all the design details in hotels, it's no wonder they're the perfect place to get creative with Instagram photos. We're kind of obsessed with browsing the #hotel tag, and every once in a while, we bring you 5 of our favorite shots that impart major wanderlust. And don't forget to follow our own shots on Instagram under "hotelchatter," "jaunted" and "vegaschatter."
· The above shot was taken by us during a visit inside the Coach Suite at Martha's Vineyard's Charlotte Inn. Not bad, eh?
· Photo via claudialesti — Boy, this looks fun: lounging by the Hotel Santa Tecla Palace's square pool, gazing out at the Ionian Sea.
· Photo via tonyhawk — @tonyhawk says it best in his caption: "sunset from Sunset"...Boulevard, that is. Absolutely killer view from the Mondrian Los Angeles.
· Photo via o_omaab — We like to make fun of the spooky minimalist vibe at the Armani Hotel, but this shot does a great job of capturing the rooms' stark elegance.
· Photo via HotelChatter — Remember how much we liked the art at 25hours Hamburg Hafencity? Here's a shot we took from its sister hotel, the Goldman 25hours Frankfurt.

Fancy A Night In A Hotel With Marilyn Monroe? Head To Florence

OK, interactive holograms of deceased celebrities haven't quite made it into the repertoire of common hotel amenities. But how does this sound instead: a hotel lobby filled with original black-and-white pictures spanning the entire career of Hollywood's most photographed star?
That's what Florence's Gallery Hotel Art has planned for the rest of the summer, and they're throwing in a few extras to celebrate the exhibit, on display now. Like breakfast, a three-course dinner, room upgrade, and free entry to the Ferragamo museum.
Giving credence to the oft-quoted Marilyn Monroe maxim: "There's so much to smile about."

Bookworms And Photographers, Get Your Kicks At Hotel Max This Summer

We already know that Hotel Max in downtown Seattle likes to express itself. Artistically, that is. The 350 original paintings and photographs scattered around the hotel ought to tell you so—least of all the funky guest room doors, which each showcase one of 39 different designs by local artists.
Now, with two new promotions—"Shoot From The Hip" and "Fifty Shades of Seattle"—guests at the hotel will be able to be part of that creative process, though in two very different ways.
But whether you end up enjoying Seattle from behind the lens of a tricked-out analog camera, or gazing at it from above during a 30-minute "helitour," we don't think you'll be struggling for any inspiration.

Something Sure Looks Familiar About The Gansevoort's New Artwork...

This photograph was shot two feet from where it sits now on the wall in Suite 1108
Another month, another NYC hotel unveiling a full-property renovation. This time, we were checking out the new look of The Gansevoort, its re-designed penthouse, and, more importantly, some cool new artwork in the rooms.
Photographer Deborah Anderson (if you haven't heard of her, you've certainly heard of her clients—George Clooney, Pink, Elton John, to name a few) was given the task of creating new artwork for the hotel, and she took her job title of "artist-in-residence" quite literally.
Over the course of two days in October, Anderson set up a photo shoot in two eleventh-floor suites, subtly weaving in elements from those rooms into the photographs themselves. As a result, certain pieces of furniture (curtains, couches, and—yes—toilets) have now been immortalized in the glamorous images guests find as they wander through the hotel.

This Photographer Traveled The World Playing Dress-Up In Hotels

We're not sure whether to be jealous or just plain creeped out—we're a little of both, actually—but we have to give credit to artist Anja Niemi, who really brushed up on her hotel knowledge for a new exhibition, titled Do Not Disturb. In each of the photographs, Niemi takes on a different female character who essentially becomes a 'part' of the hotel room. See if you can spot her in the above shot, "Room 833." Creepy, right?
But rather than settling for just any old hotel, Niemi instead researched for months to find exactly the right room for each shot. Jealous much? Seriously, artists really live the life sometimes. For this project, Niemi traveled to hotels in New York, Vienna, Berlin and Oslo; and when she arrived, all she had to do was play dress-up and pose for the camera. The desire to change career paths completely and become a photographer's assistant has never been stronger.
Read on to find out where you can check out the entire collection!

Hotels to Follow Right Now on Instagram
Know what's crazy boring and frustrating? Trying to decide whether or not to stay at a hotel by looking at their tiny, staged room photos on a website. This is why we do our best to get in and give you some massive photo galleries to flip through, but now hotels are taking it upon themselves to get creative by using the iPhone photo sharing app Instagram.
To put it plainly, Instagram allows its users to post their own shots (most taken on the fly, via iPhone) applied (or not) with filters to jazz it up the visual oomph. The community is crawling with design, travel, architecture, photography and foodie geeks, which makes it a perfect place to show off your property if you're a hotel.
We've recently joined Instagram ourselves (search hotelchatter & jaunted in the app to find our photostreams) and we're sharing original snaps from our own hotel stays. Still, we searched to find the hotel accounts on Instagram to follow right now:
