Stephen Starr, Colleen Bashaw, and Curtis Bashaw.

On Tuesday night, we checked out the Preview Party at the Beatrice Inn for The Chelsea Atlantic City which is still on schedule for a mid-July opening.

Our favorite Philadelphia Restaurateur (and soon to be Hotelier) Stephen Starr was there along with Curtis Bashaw and his sister Colleen Bashaw who designed the interior of the Chelsea, as well as a number of Curtis' other hotel projects in Cape May.

While we were a little disappointed that there were no pictures of the interior, or a presentation about the hotel, drinks were free, hors d'Oeuvres were excellent and the opportunity to actually get into the Beatrice Inn without having to pay off a bouncer made up for it.

And yes, we sat on the couch where Lindsey Lohan probably made out with 684,384 guys (in one night) last week and felt a little bit of the celeb vibe.

And This Is Why You Will Never Find Us at Rehab at the Hard Rock

Dedicated readers of HotelChatter know that they will never find us at the Rehab pool parties that take place every Sunday at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.

It probably all stems from this review where a guest saw people engaging in "sex acts" by the pool. That and the copious amounts of video and photos we've seen. It makes the Jersey Shore look tame!

So when we got this press release on the Rehab Las Vegas website (a microsite of the Hard Rock's site) we didn't really care. Then we looked closer and realized that even if you can't physically get to Rehab you can still participate in all the trashy shenanigans.Keep on reading for the full release

Party Dispatch: Muse Hotel's "Mix, Match and Splash" Cocktail Challenge

We were on hand the other night for the "Mix, Match and Splash" cocktail challenge hosted by the Muse Hotel in Times Square to benefit the Dress for Success charity.

The winning team of the cocktail challenge would have their drink served at the silverleaf tavern at 70 Park Avenue for the month of April as well as be treated to a private cocktail party for up to 10.

Despite the best efforts of an SFO*Media team (Juliana, Sedona and JetSetCD) who were helped along by a few others, the winning team was The Dream Girls with their "Dream" cocktail.

The cocktail is two parts light rum, with one parts orange juice, cranberry juice and pineapple juice mixed in with a splash of pink grapefruit and club soda served in a martini glass and garnished with a lemon peel.

Although the competition was fierce, the party was not all about the cocktails. The event also held a raffle and an auction where party-goers could bid on trips like a roundtrip on American Airlines for 2 people, and 5 nights at any Kimpton hotel, redeemable until April 2009. We think we heard the winning bid was at $1,200.

One-hundred percent of the event proceeds and auction items were donated to Dress for Success and all proceeds of the Dream cocktail will go to the non-profit as well. It's the drink that keeps on giving.

The Muse Hotel is always up for a good time. Previously, the hotel hosted a drag queen party/fundraiser as a benefit for an AIDS charity.

Now it's hosting the "Mix, Match and Splash" Cocktail Challenge. The showdown will be held on March 27th at 6pm. Teams of cocktail-enthusiasts will have 30 minutes and a mystery box of mystery box of Diageo spirits and mixers to come up with a new cocktail. The winning team will have a drink named after them and served at the silverleaf tavern for the month of April.

But this is not just some hedonistic event. One-hundred percent of the entry fees will be donated to Dress for Success, a non-profit near and dear to Muse Hotel's parent company, Kimpton Hotels. And the proceeds from those who order the drink will go to Dress for Success.

The entry fee per team (up to five members) is $100 and includes a complimentary drink. Additionally, there will be an auction and gourmet bites served by District restaurant’s chef Patricia Williams. The winning team will also be treated to a private cocktail party for 10 at the silverleaf tavern. So get your cocktail mixing skills in shape.

For a team entry form, please contact Ilana Alperstein at 212-982-8300 ext. 103, ialperstein@baltzco.com

What Went Down at Hotels During SXSW?

3/17/2008 at 9:15 AM
Tags: , ,

South by Southwest (SXSW), the annual music and film festival in Austin, Texas concluded its run yesterday and predictably, we have some hotel scene reports.

Ryan at the Synthesis blog stayed at the Four Seasons hotel and said his room smelled like something interesting by the end of the trip. He also said the hotel charged him for something he didn't get. On the bright side? He saw Ice Cube in the hotel lobby and the veggie burger is delicious although $22.

Meanwhile, Perez Hilton is reporting that singer Van Morrison who is allegedly already blacklisted at the Four Seasons is now banned from the Hotel Driskill.

Update: We got word that the Driskill Hotel have confirmed – categorically – that the Perez Hilton report is untrue.

Sorry Van.

Furthermore, Mr. Morrison's representatives added this concerning the Perez Hilton report:

Mr. Morrison has not been banned from this or any other hotel.

John Spomer, Vice President & Managing Director of the Driskill Hotel, has issued the following statement. "Throughout his stay, Mr. Morrison, as well as members of his party, treated our staff with the utmost professional courtesy and respect. We look forward to the opportunity of hosting him again in the future."

Got any more hotel party reports from SXSW? Let us know.

Will the Monday Night Parties at the Hudson Hotel Suck?

Down by the Hipster reports that New York's Hudson Hotel will start hosting a regular Monday night party which is expected to be  "very exclusive, very media and arts centric."

But apparently Manhattan is flooded with Monday night parties (Butter, Johnny Utah's, Upstairs and Star Lounge) so who knows how the Hudson's party will fare?

Although we did find this little tidbit from a commenter kinda funny:

there is no way that hudson hotel party is gonna work......place sucks and is no fun.....it's a hotel bar!!!

Hello, hotel bars are like all the rage now. What year are you living in? 2000? As if! (jk).

Another commenter has the Hudson's back, calling it OG for having a bouncer there three years ago with fingerless gloves. Nice. We think the party might survive at least for a few weeks. Remember, the Hudson Hotel does have Ian Schrager DNA.

If anyone hits up the Monday night party at the Hudson, let us know how it went.

Rockin' the Waldorf-Astoria

[Ed. Note: We had a secret operative at the Waldorf-Astoria on Monday night when Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Said spy, AllBeachy, gives us the full report of what went down. Madonna fans listen up. Enjoy.

The normally somewhat-staid Waldorf-Astoria was rockin’ on Monday night as the annual Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction dinner crowd took over the ballroom. Beautiful People abounded, as a mix of luminaries from the worlds of entertainment, publishing, and business table-hopped and schmoozed it up.

Spring Breakers Rally at the Raleigh with Victoria's Secret

Speaking of hotel swag....

We are totally perplexed by this recent partnership of The Raleigh Hotel and Victoria's Secret's PINK line--the more casual sleepwear/loungewear collection from the mass-produced lingerie store.

Today the hotel is hosting "Spring Break 08 Rally at the Raleigh" in which people show up from 1 to 5pm in their PINK favorites (sweats with Pink written on the butt and too-tight tank tops we assume) and get freebies. Some C-list celebs will be in attendance like Brody Jenner, Vanessa Minillo, and models Miranda Kerr and Behati Prinsloo.

The day has a packed schedule of events kicking off with Diving for Dogs where guests dive for those mini-PINK dogs in the pool. There's also twister and dodgeball and of course, shopping for PINK clothes all day long.

If you can't make it, you can still buy a limited edition Pink shirt that says "Rally at the Raleigh."

Apparently the hotel and Victoria's Secret have done this partnership before. We're just grateful that it's only for one day. That and that the whole event wasn't called "Puke and Rally at the Raleigh."
