Hotel Construction Zones Are The New Hot Party Venue, In NYC At Least

November 6, 2009 at 8:59 AM | by JetSetCD | 0 Comments

Apparently there are not enough event spaces or hip hotel bars in New York City to appease the fashion flock, since the biggest party in town (for the trend-ites, it seems), was held in the under-construction core of the NoMad Hotel. If you remember, we went to the big Interview Magazine party last year in the under-construction core of The Standard Hotel, probably with some of the same attendees who showed at the NoMad.

There is this old saying: "two's a coincidence and three's a trend." Well, we've got two down with these parties; what hotel skeleton will be the next to hold a fashion party, thereby elevating this to a trend? Will songs by "Men at Work" be played? Now let's talk about the Nomad...

Morocco's New Mazagan Beach Resort Opens With a Bang

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 2 4000 El Jadida , Morocco

Fireworks. Fire eaters. Snake charmers—just another night for Lindsay Lohan. (And, no, those are not euphemisms.) If yesterday’s report of LiLo’s alleged tryst with Gerard Butler got your heart racing and you want to follow suit, here’s a little more info on where the action went down.

The Mazagan Beach Resort is located in El Jadida, Morocco, about 55 miles southwest of Casablanca. So, yeah, romance is built right into the sand dunes. And there’s a lot of ’em here: the resort sits on a 4.3 mile beach and you can see the ocean from many of the 500 5-star rooms and suites.

The best way to picture the sprawl of Mazagan? Just think of one of owner Sol Kerzner’s other celeb-magnet properties, such as Atlantis in the Bahamas. The mega-resort includes an 18-hole golf course, a spa offering traditional Moroccan treatments, three kids’ clubs, 11 restaurants and bars, the Mazagan casino, and the Sanctuary Night Club, which promises parties “New York style.” Oh yeah, and there’s a huge conference center if you think you can talk your boss into a corporate retreat in the vein of the OTT Mazagan opening party. (The economy’s looking up, right?)

Do The Monster Mash at These Halloween Hotel Bashes

October 26, 2009 at 4:43 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Last week, we let you know of Five Hotels for a Halloween Weekend but there's actually a bunch of hotels you may want to hit up for their special Halloween festivities if you find yourself in town without a party to attend. Here are Five Halloween Hotel Bashes that you may want to just consider this weekend. We've also listed the room rates below the party hotels because the last thing you want to do is find a designated driver at 1am in the morning on Halloween. Talk about scary!

1. The Chelsea AC Hotel: New Yorkers and Philadelphians looking to get out of the city can make a quick jaunt to Atlantic City where The Chelsea is hosting their first massive Halloween party throughout all their bars and lounges, including a full haunted house designed by Blackbook mag's Steve Lewis in the hotel's C5 lounge. A costume contest will be held where the winner will get a grand prize worth up to $5,000. Victoria's Secrets models will also do double-duty Halloween night as Chelsea's Angels, the party's DJs. All tickets include a complimentary Halloween-tini with admission along with M&M’s, Sweet Tarts, Candy Corn, and Licorice. Tickets are $30, and doors open at 9pm.
Room rates start at $111 for The Annex and $147 for The Chelsea (the nicer building.)

The Congress of Cool is Now Officially In Session (And Probably a Little Hungover)

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 515 15th St Nw [map], Washington, DC, United States, 20004
October 9, 2009 at 9:08 AM | by KatieK | 0 Comments

The W Washington DC opened to guests back in July, and has racked up some pretty partisan reviews ever since. But last night a scene-y DC crowd — the Congress of Cool, if you will — reached across the aisle to join in and play dress-up for the W’s official opening bash.

As we all know, the W loves splashy parties awash in velvet ropes and a purple carpet. And for this installation they hired John Legend for a rooftop performance (and to up the crowd’s star ante). This being DC, and with the W across the street from the White House, it’s also worth noting that Obama’s aide Reggie Love stopped by for the festivities. On the celeb circuit, actress-singer-songwriter Emmy Rossum was also in attendance. You can watch a short video here for a better sense of the scene.

Le Manoir Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary With a Mini-Music Festival

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: Church Road, Great Milton, Oxford, United Kingdom, OX9 7PD
September 23, 2009 at 2:58 PM | by juliab | 0 Comments

Music festivals – scruffy affairs where you sit on the floor, hopefully in the sun, and drink your own bodyweight, right?

Not any more, they’re not. Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons - chef Raymond Blanc’s uber-posh country pile just outside Oxford – is 25 years old this year, and it’s celebrating with a mini-music festival.

But it’s no ordinary music festival. Oh no. This is Le Festival aux Quat’Saisons: an uberposh, gastro music festival and although it’s going on for three days, you’re only meant to attend for one night (presumably your stomach would give way, as would your bank balance, if you stayed any longer).

September 18, 2009 at 3:16 PM | by Heidi Atwal | 1 Comment

To call the Four Seasons Beverly Hills a celebrity sighting hotspot is one of those, "Yeah, duh," self-evident statements that even non-Angelenos are aware of. But with the Emmy awards this Sunday, we thought it was worth highlighting this B.H. institution, as it's inevitably reaching a peak of Primetime star check-in as we type this.

Tonight, according to BizBash, The Four Seasons will play home yet again to HBO's "Luxury Lounge" swag suite, where Emmy attendees and other invited guests (tip: don't try crashing this party) will take home a slew of fancy gifts including Bulgari skin care products, or "receive private treatments by appointment."

Expected guests include Emmy Award winner Tina Fey and Entourage's Adrian Grenier. Other area hotels that already have, or will, host Emmy-related parties or hospitality lounges include The Mondrian and the Sunset Marquis.

Fashion Week is in full force in NYC and while our Top Three Hotels for Fashion Week are seeing some consistent action, the Maritime Hotel was the scene of FW's most coveted affair, the Marc Jacobs show's after-party which took place inside the Hiro Ballroom. Hosted by V Magazine and sponsored by Belvedere Vodka, the party featured a performance from Lady Gaga who was fresh off her Best New Artist VMA and continuing the "blood look" with a blood red lace outfit.

Celebs in attendance ran the gamut from serious fashion designers like Alexander Wang to respected photographers like Mario Testino, new and old divas like Estelle, Ciara, Toni Braxton and Janet Jackson to total flame-outs like Lindsay Lohan and Courtney Love.

Helping the laydees: David Walliams escorts Rosie Huntington-Whiteley home last night

Bungalow 8 London may have been losing its aura a little over the last couple of years, but the swanky St Martins Lane Hotel pulled in a hefty bunch of celebs last night for its 10th birthday party. Although when we say celebs, we mainly mean David Walliams and a coterie of barely legal ladies. Still, barely legal ladies seem to be the cream of the London social scene at the moment, so they actually did pretty well.

The slightly uninspiring invite (on a piece of tracing paper, no less) promised VV Brown, Bungalow 8 DJs and a "special guest". Blah. Instead, what we got was model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Prince Harry’s on-off ladyfriend Chelsy Davy, Bond girl Gemma Arterton, celeb-spawn Kelly Osbourne, and the ever-ghastly Peaches Geldof. Oh, and comedians Alan and Jimmy Carr were there as well.

Fans of Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch can send off the crab fishermen aboard the Sea Star at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle on Sept. 13 as the crew prepares to set sail for the Bering Sea off of Alaska’s coast to shoot the show's sixth season.

The Sea Star became famous in 2004 after the Discovery Channel aired the documentary America’s Deadliest Season, starring Capt. Larry Hendricks and his crew. The doc was so successful—more than 100 million viewers worldwide tuned in—that a spin-off reality TV series was created following some crab boats during the fall and winter on the Bering Sea. The Emmy-winning show seems to have a cult following.
