Watch Out Marriott Hotels in the UK: The Inspectors (and Celebrities) are Coming

The JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London. Check out our own "inspection" of this hotel.
The other week we told you how Marriott Hotels in the UK had put out a call for "inspectors", ordinary people who would be keeping tabs on the Marriott hotels in their region, making sure that the new refurb jobs on the hotel stay in top condition. Considering that Marriott dropped over 120 million pounds into these properties we don't blame them for being vigilant about the upkeep.
While we at HotelChatter did not qualify for the hotel inspector job, Marriott has found their team of eight individuals, hand-picked by the original hotel inspector and TV personality, Ruth Watson.
Marriott’s hotel inspectors were hand-picked by the UK’s original hotel inspector, Ruth Watson, from almost two thousand entries submitted by the general public explaining why they would make good hotel inspectors. The inspectors will visit Marriott hotels on a regular basis ensuring standards remain high following refurbishment.
As an experienced hotelier and inspector, Ruth employed a strict method of selection, specifically looking for entrants demonstrating experience in both leisure and business travel, objectiveness, attention to detail and a good understanding of what quality really means.

Marriott Hotels in the UK are Looking for 'Hotel Inspectors'
Where: United Kingdom

The JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London. Check out our own "inspection" of this hotel.
It's no secret that HotelChatter is a total Anglophile, meaning we're a bit obsessed with anything British, even going so far as to hire a British gal solely based on her accent. (We kid, she's also an intrepid VegasChatter editor having attended both Barack Obama and Chippendales events with equal professionalism. Rrriiight.)
Anyhoo, being an Anglophile we were thrilled to hear that Marriott Hotels in the UK are hiring Hotel Inspectors, hand-picked individuals whose job it will be to keep an eye on the hotels in their region, ensuring that the new refurbs on the hotels stay in top condition. Could our dream of working and living in London come true?
The job description includes; tasting delicious meals in the hotel restaurants, unwinding in the vibrant bars, getting cosy in the remarkably comfortable Marriott signature beds and relaxing in the leisure facilities, which include pampering spas and world-class championship golf courses. It’s a tough job but someone has to do it.

UK's "Hotel Inspector" Might Just Be a Reality TV Show About Hotels That's Actually Good

Why, oh why, do American networks rip off countless British reality TV shows like American Idol and The Baby Borrowers, but not what may just be the best British TV show since The Office?
Last night, Hotel Inspector kicked off its third season on U.K.'s Channel Five, and the Guardian's review of the premiere is enough to make us want to pony up for satellite TV.
The show is similar in format to Kitchen Nightmares, where Gordon Ramsay comes in and cleans up the shoddiness of various restaurateurs. Except instead of restaurants it's hotels and instead of Ramsay's screaming, we have Alex Polizzi, (niece of Sir Rocco Forte, of Rocco Forte Collection fame), who has "the manner of a 1940s head mistress," the Guardian says.
We don't know what's more disturbing: The fact that we can't find a clip of the show online or that the hotel Polizzi was assigned to fix up, The Castle of Brecon in Wales, had the same pubic hair in one room's soap dish a full month after her initial inspection.
Honestly, both facts make us writhe with ickiness.
