Happy Holidays! We're leaving you with one last story to admire read before we head out for the next few days. We'll be off tomorrow and Christmas but we'll back with a full slate of stories on Thursday. Remember, if you're waking up in a hotel on Christmas, we wanna hear about it!

Heading to Disney World for the holidays is a dream for many folks--young and old. But if you're staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resorts, your vacation just got a whole lot sweeter.

Laurent Branlard, the hotel's executive pastry chef, constructed a 7-foot tall, 400-pound nutcracker made entirely from chocolate along with an entire Christmas scene made up of another 2,000 pounds of chocolate that includes a life-sized Santa Claus (something the resort is well-known for.)

The scene and nutcracker took 80 hours to complete and both will be on display through December. Best of all, it's entirely edible. However, if you were to consume it all you would be taking in about 4 million calories. On second thought….

The hotel is still open on for Christmas Eve and Day. In fact, they have an entire website up and running for the holidays: www.santasfavoriteresort.com . Rates at the hotel, which is part of Starwood Hotels start at $209 a night.

The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel that's in a holiday mood--whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas decorations, thrilling lighting displays and best of all, Santa appearances. But of course, any hotel can assemble a fake tree, put on some lights and declare themselves "festive." Which is why we're looking at hotels that are really going ALL OUT. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

With a name like The Grand America Hotel, you can be sure the hotel is going to go all out for the holidays. And indeed the five diamond hotel in Salt Lake City has done just that.

For starters, the hotel itself is lit up with red and green Christmas lights (Thankfully, it's on the exterior of the building and not something that they string up on every guest room window) Then outside in their 2 1/2 acre courtyard, there's a giant Christmas tree that's surrounded by lighted trees and bushes (pretty much everything has some lights strung on it.) Inside, there's a giant Victorian gingerbread house while the Shops at The Grand have created old-school retail window designs for guests to admire. (We especially love the Paint Department.)

Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

Earlier this week, we were stunned by the Laduree Macaron Christmas Tree at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand Hotel. Today, there's another macaron creation to drool over, The Nutcracker at the Ritz-Carlton Boston Common which stands 14-feet tall and consists entirely of gingerbread macarons. Below are some fun facts from Chef Andrew Yeo about the structure, which apparently needs daily touch-ups because hungry guests keep filching macarons from it!

· The Nutcracker is made out of 20 pounds of almond flour, 100 pounds of granulated sugar, five pounds of water and 4,106 egg whites.
· In total, that's more than 3,000 macarons, flavored with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, ginger, clove and almond.
· Using the hotel's entire pastry team, it took about a week to build from start to finish.
· Yeo was inspired by a gift he received earlier in the year from Laduree Paris and that set his mind on doing something for the holidays with macarons.
· Last year, the hotel built a life-sized gingerbread house that housed a gift shop for the Boston Ballet. This year, they wanted to go bigger yet still incorporate the ballet. Thus The Nutcracker, which comes to life next door at the Opera House.
· Lastly, the figure is 14-feet-tall to celebrate 2014. Clever!

The hotel still has rooms open for Christmas starting at $395 a night. The hotel also has a Nutcracker Suite package available that includes a stay in a luxury suite with holiday trimmings and elements inspired by Boston Ballet's The Nutcracker, a Teddy Bear tuck-in service, a saint pointe shoe autographed by a Boston Ballet company dancer, a CD recording of The Nutcracker and a Sugar Plum inspired bubble bath drawn by butler. Fancy! But it costs $995 a night.

The Goring (who, as of two weeks ago, became the only London member of Relais & Châteaux) recently unveiled what is, undoubtedly, London’s most unconventional and quintessentially British Christmas tree.

The tree, called “Christmas Rain,” is part of a collection of Christmas trees created for the hotel by British luxury brands. This one is the focal point, though, standing tall at 30 feet in The Goring’s garden, and designed by a fellow Royal Warrant Holder and Britain’s leading rainwear specialist, Fulton Umbrellas (they’re famous for their see-through umbrellas favored by the Royal Family including Wills and Kate and, we expect, little Prince George will follow in their rain-booted footsteps). Rather than regular glass baubles, the tree is decorated with bespoke Fulton umbrellas (ever-at-the-ready for the traditional Christmas rain shower) and a shimmering shower of mirrored raindrops arranged in a waterfall of crystals, beading and sequins.

One of the "must-dos" for visiting Paris is sampling some Ladurée macarons and bringing home a box or two (or three.) But if you're staying at the InterContinental Paris Le Grand, you won't have to go far to get some macarons.

The hotel has just unveiled the largest macaron Christmas tree in the world, made out of 8,000 brightly colored Ladurée macarons. The main tree stands nearly 14 feet high, while 27 other Ladurée macaron trees of various sizes can be found throughout the hotel (until January 6th.)

We knew it was snowing on the East Coast but in San Francisco? What's that about?

Well, once again, The Hyatt Regency San Francisco has transformed its lobby, one of the largest in the world, into a virtual, over-sized “snow globe” with 30,000 lights that cascade down the hotel's 17-story atrium, a 30-foot Christmas tree and best of all, daily snowfall.

The snow falls daily at different times throughout the day (see below) which is sure to delight the children (and adults) of the world who don't usually see snow. For the snow-weary folks, don't worry, the snow will only "fall" until December 30th.

Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

Hotels love building gingerbread houses for Christmastime but the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa in Phoenix has gone above and beyond with their first life-size, walk-through Gingerbread Village.

The mini-molasses city include 13 four-feet by six-feet gingerbread houses and a clock tower in Santa's village. Good lord, we nearly fainted just reading this. God bless the souls who had to roll out that cookie dough. You can see some of the behind-the-scenes photos here on the hotel's Facebook page.

But it's not just this JW Marriott thats going all out for the holidays. All JW Marriotts are offering a special Holiday Getaway offer that start at $139 a night and include a $50 nightly resort credit as well as access to all of the hotel's holiday festivities. Use code P91 at marriott.com when booking by December 15th.

This is What 4 Million Hotel Christmas Lights Looks Like

The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

If you were near the The Mission Inn Hotel & Spa in Riverside, Calif. (an hour east of LA) on the day after Thanksgiving, then you probably noticed things were a little "brighter" in the area.

That's because the hotel switched on approximately four million Christmas lights that illuminate the hotel as part of their annual Festival of Lights celebration.

The light show draws in about 300,000 visitors and includes over 400 animated characters in addition to the four million lights. It takes 10 weeks of round-the-clock preparations by a crew of 30 to get it all ready. And it's been happening for 21 years now. We can't help but be curious about where they store these lights when Christmas is over. But it's probably way neater than our tangled stash in the garage.

A Daredevil Santa Will Land at the Six Senses Zighy Bay on Christmas

The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel that's in a holiday mood--whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas decorations, thrilling lighting displays and best of all, Santa appearances. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

Just because you're in the middle of Zighy Bay in Oman, doesn't mean you can't see Santa. All you have to do is head to the Six Senses Zighy Bay Resort where Santa will make an appearance on Christmas Day, not by sleigh, but by paramotor over the Hajar Mountains from Dibba. Once he lands on the beach at the resort, where his Santarina is waiting for him, he will dole out small gifts and pose for photos. After Santa makes his rounds, he and Santarina will head over to the neighboring Smuggler's Bay...by inner tube of course.

Aside from this daredevil Santa appearance, the hotel is also offering additional holiday-themed activities this month including a "maintaining balance" workshop, holiday spa specials, a Christmas Eve cocktail reception and Omani Christmas Eve celebration. Go here for more info or to book. Rates start at $1,800 a night. We hope Santa is bringing you some extra cash!

Peninsula Hotels Have Hired a 'SnowPage' for the Holiday Season

The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel that's in a holiday mood--whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas decorations, thrilling lighting displays and best of all, Santa appearances. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

All Peninsula Hotels across the world get incredibly festive with their holiday decorations. But this year, the luxury hotel brand has gone a step further--by creating a special holiday mascot, The SnowPage with its own holiday season microsite too.

Peninsula filmed a video showing off the holiday preparations at the Peninsula New York and while it looks like some staffers are just having fun in the snow on the rooftop, they are actually building a SnowPage complete with the pageboy bellcap and a P on his red scarf.

Peninsula then invites you to build your own virtual SnowPage and send it off as an e-greeting, using certain desserts and accessories from Peninsula Hotels to decorate. For example, for the eyes, you can select green tea macaroons from the Peninsula Tokyo or handmade chocolate truffles from the Peninsula Hong Kong. (Too bad your SnowPage creation isn't really real!)

Ape, Actually at The Andaz Liverpool Street in London This Christmastime

The world is officially in "Countdown to Christmas" mode and now, so are we. Every day until Christmas we'll be featuring a hotel that's in a holiday mood--whether it be with gigantic gingerbread houses, over-the-top Christmas decorations, thrilling lighting displays and best of all, Santa appearances. Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

Well, now, THIS is different. Andaz Liverpool Street in London just unveiled a giant golden "Santa Gorilla" in their front window, along with a barrel of gold 3D-printed monkeys that cascade down the lobby's rotunda with mistletoe in their hands.

The "Andaz Goes Ape" display was designed by Bobby Patmore from Inspitalfields and Ravensbourne College on behalf of Andaz and the Old Spitalfields shopping market in town.

But the ape theme doesn't just stop at the window display. Each evening in the Andaz lounge, guests can enjoy mini-banana bread loaves, banana chips, monkey nuts and mulled wine. Mini-tasters from the hotel restaurant's Christmas menus will also be on offer including quince chutney, pistachio purée, mulled wine jelly, turkey, stuffing & cranberry terrine and Butternut squash soup with spiced maple syrup.

The hotel has even created two Monkey-themed cocktailspriced at £10 each. “Monkey Business”, made for the ladies, is a fruity blend of Cruzan Rum, Crème de Banane, cranberry juice, apple juice and elderflower cordial. For the men, “Maker’s Monkey” serves up Maker’s Mark, Drambuie, Banana liqueur and dark chocolate liqueur. But of course, these drinks can be interchanged amongst the sexes. (Or so we hope!)

Four Seasons Austin Has Gone to WhoVille This Holiday Season

Know of a hotel that's super excited for Christmas? Let us know!

The Four Seasons Austin got a jump on the holiday decorations last week, when they unveiled their Dr. Seuss-themed Gingerbread WhoVillage, a gingerbread replica of the town of Whoville from How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Conceived by the hotel's pastry chefs back in August, the WhoVillage features a Mt. Crumpet, Cindy Lou Who's house, a giant Town Center Christmas Tree, a Welcome to Whoville Sign and a train that looks like the Grinch's stolen bag of toys.

All in all, the village features ten houses made entirely out of edible materials (each one also takes the team of pasty chefs about 30 hours to construct.) Additionally, each house is sold to a sponsor and the proceeds are donated to the Seton Shivers Cancer Center. Sorry, we don't think sponsors can eat the house until the display comes down on January 1st.
