Celebrity Smackdown at The Standard NYC

Samantha at left, Paz at right. Trust us, it is not easy to find a flattering photo of Paz.
Just when New York's Standard Hotel attempts to class things up by bringing in Salman Rushdie to hand-select the hotel library, two catty actresses have to steal the headlines. Apparently The City's semi-reality show star Samantha Swetra made some remarks that offended Boardwalk Empire actress Paz de la Huerta, and the b*tchslapping began. Actually, it was full-on punching, reports Fox:
The fight apparently began after Swetra made a few snide remarks aimed at de la Huerta -- prompting the actress to throw a glass and punch the reality star in the face

Hotel Riverview Suddenly Booked Up, Even for 'Janis Joplin'

Further proof that the Hotel Riverview will be the site of Eric MacPherson and Sean Goode's next project? The front desk is telling people they are not taking reservations because they are all booked. Not even if the person is a Janis Joplin impersonator. Brian Mercer emailed us with his disappointment the other day:
Marianne Donnelly is a Janis Joplin impersonator who stayed at this hotel many times and is dearly disappointed that suddenly without any explanation it is not taking reservations and uses the incredibly opaque line, "we are all booked for now." What b.s. Why don't they rent while renovating? Where else could you stay in a private "cubicle" safe and warm for $40 a night in NYC?
Egads, we can't believe the hotel rates were that low at the Riverview. That won't even buy you a doily on a chairback at the Bowery Hotel. But we suspect that if Goode and MacPherson are eyeing Riverview for their next project, they will give the interior a total overhaul, making renting while renovating impossible.
That might be a good thing though. We wouldn't be surprised if there were still beds in there from when the crew of the Titanic stayed over.

Hotel Riverview '100 Percent' Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson's Next Hotel Project

Back in October we got a tip from a reader that there was undercover construction work going down at the Hotel Riverview at 113 Jane Street and that it was rumored to be a new hotel from Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode, they of the Bowery and Maritime Hotels.
Our friend Down By the Hipster also speculated this week that the duo were looking into a new West Village project and today DBTH says it might have something to do with the existing Socialista club that opened in the hotel's basement.
It could be a conflict for MacPherson/Goode to open a hotel in a place that already has a separate nightlife establishment but we heard from our special tipster yet again today, adamant that 113 Jane Street aka The Hotel Riverview, will definitely be the next project from those two. Tipster writes:
it is 100% true that Eric Goode and Sean MacPhersons next hotel project is the old jane hotel. they plan to turn it into a spa hotel.
A spa hotel? Interesting. That would be a first for these guys. The hotel also has theater/performance venue on the first floor, which was once the Jane Street Theater. Considering the Hiro Ballroom in the Maritime Hotel, this shouldn't be too hard for the hoteliers to manage.
That's all we know for now and we'll keep digging but if you want to make our lives easier by sharing any information that you know, we promise you a big candy cane and a kiss under the miseltoe.

Are Goode and MacPherson Eyeing Jane Street in the West Village?

From the tip line, we hear that some undercover construction work has started at the Hotel Riverview at 113 Jane St. Our tipster wonders if it could be Eric Goode and Sean MacPherson's new project.
The grimy hotel--celebrating its 100th birthday this year--has some history, including the dubious distinction of hosting Titanic survivors. It seems these guys can't get away from nautical history, hmm? But these days, the hotel is more of a flophouse. Still you can't beat the rates: singles start around $40.
Those prices would of course rise if Goode and MacPherson took over. (We don't want to think about the hassles they'd face renovating a landmarked building.) NB: A short six blocks away is The Waverly Inn and up the road is the Maritime Hotel, both Goode and MacPherson projects.
