A small earthquake struck the Beverly Hills neighborhood of LA earlier this morning, which followed a 3.2 magnitude rumble that hit the same area on Monday.
As it happened, recently-traded NBA star Dwight Howard was in his hotel bathroom when the Monday quake hit. How do we know this? TMZ asked him, obviously, since this was technically his first earthquake since being traded to the LA Lakers. When Howard was asked how he handled things, he answered:
"I was in the toilet … and It shook me off the toilet."
The Bayram Hotel in the city of Van, Turkey, survived last month's 7.2 earthquake with just "some cracks and a damaged elevator," according to a report by AJC. But another quake last night, this one of a lesser magnitude, rocked the city again, bringing down about 25 buildings.
So far, seven have been declared dead, though dozens are still missing. In some cases, the victims were actually journalists who had traveled to the city to report on the wreckage from last month's earthquake, which killed 600. The Bayram Hotel, along with another unnamed hotel, were occupied during last night's quake, and rescue workers are still working to locate guests buried beneath the rubble.

Just before noon, a decent-sized quake--5.8 on the Richter--struck the Los Angeles area, sending shocks from Los Angeles to San Diego and as far away as Las Vegas. The epicenter was 29 miles from downtown LA near Chino Hills in San Bernadino County.
No major disasters have been reported yet but a couple thousand donut fans were affected in Anaheim.
About 2,000 detectives were attending a gang conference at the Marriott Hotel in Anaheim when a violent jolt was felt in the main conference room. Mike Willever, who was at the hotel, said, "First we heard the ceiling shaking, then the chandelier started to shake, then there was a sudden movement of the floor."
But what about the donuts? Are they ok? (We kid, we kid.)
Since Anaheim is also home to Disneyland, the park rides have been evacuated and will be inspected for any damage. Fortunately, everything else in SoCal seems ok--a little rattled but ok.
Any Los Angeles hotels affected by the earthquake? Let us know.
