Last month, we published a list of early-season ski deals to help you save some cash when taking a trip this winter. As you might have noticed, although many of the deals we featured hooked you up with free lift tickets (which is a huge help), a lot of them were closer to "promotions" than "deals."
For example, the $530 per person, per night girls' getaway at the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek may provide good value given all you get, but it is far from a "deal," an offer meant to allow those who normally couldn't financially partake to participate.
In other words, $530 a night is still a lot of money. And there were other promotions that were in the same boat, such as the offer from Hyatt Mountain Collection that if you book a three-night stay at all three properties in the collection, you will receive a complimentary EPIC ski pass for the 2014/2015 winter.

Uh-oh. Snowpacalypse is happening again for the East Coast. Weather reports are predicting up to 18 inches of snow and freezing temperatures. Already, 2,000 flights have been cancelled at Boston's Logan Airport and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has already declared a State of Emergency. Just the other week, we were in Miami looking for a seriously last-minute hotel deal. We're talking 2pm the day of. Our usual go-to site for last-minute bookings, HotelTonight, didn't really have any good options. See, we like deals but we also like cool hotels so finding that perfect combination of affordable-ish and hip can sometimes be difficult.
So we turned to the giant search engine that is Expedia and found a room at Kimpton's Surfcomber Hotel on Collins Avenue for $239 a night. Not bad but we had to cross-check that with what the Surfcomber's own site was showing. And to our surprise, we stumbled upon Kimpton's Last Minute Deals.
If you thought the cray cray deal-hunting was over when Cyber Monday ended, think again. Aside from a couple hotels in our Ultimate Guide extending their offers for a few more days, Howard Johnson is once again hosting Orange Wednesday on December 4th giving guests 50 percent off room rates for an up to three-night stay.
You can check out the participating HoJos in the U.S. and Canada on the website now but you do have to book between 12:00 AM and 11:59 PM EST on December 4th. And you can't book through the website. You have to call the hotel directly and request to book the Orange Wednesday rate. The deal is also limited to the first three travelers to call for each hotel so time really is of the essence on Orange Wednesday.
Here's some more fine print: Stays must be completed in the first three months of the reservation being made. Each guest can only book one reservation for up to three consecutive nights at the 50 percent off discount during the promotion period. Blackout dates apply.
If you're reading this and Orange Wednesday has already passed you by, Howard Johnson is still offering 20 percent off the room rates when guests book three consecutive nights from now until December 31st. Orange Wednesday may not be the new Cyber Monday but it's still pretty nice.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday always brings out the crazy in people. We've all seen the reports of people fighting at the store for discounted merchandise and of people staying up until midnight in front of their computers to drop items into their virtual shopping carts. But today's Cyber Monday promotion offered by the Radisson Blu Warwick in Philadelphia has people up in arms for a very good reason.
The hotel's Cyber Monday deal, one of our favorites in our ultimate guide, promised "newly redesigned business class rooms for just $19.26, the year the historic hotel opened." The deal would only be available for 24 hours or until the deal sold out. But when many folks signed on to get the deal at midnight, it was already sold-out. So what in the world happened?
A tipster let us know that the hotel had put up an incorrect auto-populated code of STEAL when it was really CYBER, thus not allowing people to book the rooms. The hotel's booking link is now saying CYBER but an upset Facebook fan posted a screengrab of the wrong code on the Radisson Blu's Facebook page. Oops. You can read more of the angry Facebook reactions if you dare.
The good news is that the deal is still very much valid.
The big Turkey Day is tomorrow and maybe your house is so full of guests you need a bed for the night -- or, maybe, it's all too much and you need to escape the madness. Whatever the reason, here are some last-minute Thanksgiving-eve hotel deals for around New York City. (Standard rooms unless otherwise noted).
Quikbook's offerings skew hip tonight. The Ace Hotel New York is going for $179 for a Mini; a Single Pod at Pod 39 will only cost you $95, and you can get a Regular King at the The Hotel on Rivington for $189.

So the deal starts off on Black Friday and extends all the way into Cyber Monday. Pretty sweet. One funny thing: Some hotels ask you to call to book and used the code CYBER. LOLSIES!
As always, you must must must read the fine print on the hotel deals. And not just the fine print that we've listed but the even finer print that you see on the hotel's booking page as many of these deals require advance payment or are nonrefundable. If you don't do this, we'll spank you. Not in a Fifty Shades of Grey way either. So now, have at it!

Loews Hotels is trying something new with their Twitter pages--allowing guests to book their stays directly through Twitter.
Many hotels have long been offering reservations through Facebook for a few years now but Twitter has never really been done before. Here's how Loews is pioneering this new social reservations tool:
Simply use the hashtag #BookLoews in a tweet to @Loews_Hotels that says where you want to stay and you'll be connected by a Loews Travel Planner to start a Twitter conversation. Once you're ready to book your stay, the Travel Planner will tweet you a link to a secure chat conversation to take your credit card and billing info in a secure, PCI-compliant digital environment. Other than that, you never have to leave Twitter to book your hotel room. This is the future, kids! (One thing to note: The Loews Orlando hotels are not bookable through Twitter.)
We've just turned 10 but the original SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills is still a baby at 5 years old. Crazily enough, we were there when hotelier Sam Nazarian gave birth to the energetic hotel that would turn into a full-on, real deal hotel collection with a property in South Beach and more to open in New York, Vegas, Seattle and beyond.
And in typical flashy SLS style, they are celebrating the milestone in a major way.
The hotel has put together an extravagant package SLS 5-Year Anniversary package priced at $10,000 a night that includes a stay in the presidential suite, a truffle dinner for two, personal chaffuer in a BMW, a Ciel Spa experience and wait for it...two tickets to the opening of SLS Las Vegas.
Say what??? We had to double-check this package listing but it's for real. The two tickets are just simply tickets to the opening and not a hotel stay. But we're guessing that if you spend 10 grand on this package, you'll probably spend at least $250 on a hotel room at SLS in Vegas. Remember, SLS Vegas will open sometime in fall 2014.
A more affordable birthday gift for SLS is after the jump.
Spent so much time planning your costume and parties that you forgot to reserve a place to retire to after the Halloween festivities? No worries. These last-minute NYC hotel deals (for standard rooms unless otherwise noted), via a few of our favorite booking sites, will have you sorted.
HotelTonight's "High-Roller Suite" comes from 6 Columbus who are offering their Columbus Loft for $1,050 -- the two-story penthouse loft with floor-to-ceiling windows is showing on the Thompson Hotels site for $5,500.
