And Travelzoo is now offering a great deal for summertime, peak season for NYC hotels, for just $179 a night. That rate actually works for Thursday-Saturday stays in June and July, and it includes free WiFi. Plus, the hotel is open over Fourth of July starting at $159 a night. · Live It Up In Vegas for 20 Percent Less: The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas is one of the most sought-after party spots on The Strip from its raging pool scene to its massive nightclub Marquee and its restaurant funland featuring Holstein's, Scarpetta, STK and two shops from chef José Andrés. · Upgrade Yourself at the Newest Orient-Express Hotel: Orient-Express Hotels has snapped and spiffed up the legendary El Encanto Resort in Santa Barbara, which now features 92 individually designed California-style bungalows, with hardwood floors, plantation-style shutters, and bespoke accessories. The first West Coast hotel for O-E also has its own spa, a lush garden wonderland, views of the Pacific Ocean and even its own Holstein cow, Ellie, whose milk is used to produce handmade cheese for the hotel's restaurant. Rates for a superior bungalow are pricey at $525 a night but the Enchanted Upgrade package gives guests a one- category upgrade at the time of booking. It's only valid until May 31st (excluding Memorial Day Weekend) so book soon. Call 805-845-4008 and mention the Enchanted Upgrade option. The Jade, And Its Purple Velvet Lobby, Opens At $180 a Night

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 52 W 13th St [map], New York, NY, United States, 10011
February 14, 2013 at 4:33 PM | by | Comments (0)

Here it is, folks, the first NYC hotel opening of 2013: The Jade Hotel. As it happened, we were strolling by the brand new last night, so we got to peek inside the finished lobby.

We've mentioned before how The Jade is done up in "1920s French Deco" style, and what that basically means is: rich dark wood and brick everywhere, geometric motif headboards and rotary telephones in the rooms, and, best, of all, a royal purple velvet-accented lobby (those drapes! that couch!). The vibe is kind of Gramercy Park Hotel meets Holiday Inn, since it's got the great location and the luxury, medieval castle vibe, but it's a new build and its price point is (thankfully) a little lower than GPH.

And speaking of which, the hotel is offering a pretty sweet rate of $180/night during the soft opening phase. Which is now. And we get that it's the slow season and all, but you generally don't find prices like that in the Greenwich Village area, like, ever.

Hilton Wants To Cure Your Vacationitis

Go To The Hotel's Web
  Site Where: Various Locations
February 6, 2013 at 3:39 PM | by | Comments (0)

Hopefully you've paid off those Christmas credit card bills by now and had a great time relaxing and celebrating the New Year. But how many of you came back to a desk piled with papers and a long to-do list? One vacation creates the need for another, and there's no doubt that this is why millions of Americans choose not to use their vacation days.

While no person or company can stop that mindset on their own, Hilton has teamed up with The Onion in an attempt to humorously motivate people to take short long-weekend type trips this winter. The theory is that weekend getaways and staycations (yeah, that word is still around) are manageable because you only have to take off one day (at most) and it's enough time to relax without creating more work upon your return. Apparently, sometimes one extra day off on either side of a weekend can make a big difference.

Penny-Pinching "Papa John" Has Property, But St. Regis Park City's Selling Specials

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 2300 Deer Valley Drive East [map], Park City, Utah, United States, 84060
February 5, 2013 at 9:50 AM | by | Comments (0)

When you first pull into Deer Valley, you'll probably notice the funicular cruising up the hillside. Most devices of the sort found in Park City are centered around skiing, but this one doesn't service any bunny slopes or extreme terrain -- it's how guests of The St. Regis Deer Valley access the hotel.

We suppose the grandeur makes sense given that the current rates for the St. Regis start at over $1000 a night (or 25,000 Starpoints) for a Superior room. That's some serious coin!

The hotel consists of 67 condo suites available for rent and 26 others that are privately owned. The residential units are on the top four floors and accessible via private elevator. Who makes their (second) home at the St. Regis? John Schnatter, better known as Papa John of Papa John's Pizza. We're not sure what he paid, but perhaps this investment is a reason why he's pinching his pizza pennies these days.

Werk! The Westin New York Grand Central Is Just $179!

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 212 East 42nd Street [map], New York, NY, United States, 10017
February 5, 2013 at 12:04 AM | by | Comment (1)

It's not often we see New York City room-rate deals outside Hotel Week that are actually deals. In fact, when Westin New York Grand Central announced a new package last month, the phone lines went haywire. Booking engines crashed. The sky fell into itself.

Seriously, this deal is pretty notable. Not only is it a rate that's less than $200 at a fancy Westin, but there's perks to boot.

The New Year, New You package encourages guests to remember their resolution of taking care of themselves, even on the weekends (apologies to every single bar in NYC but we're sober for this package). The package includes rates starting at $179 per night (not a typo!) in deluxe accommodations, Organic Avenue juice in-room amenity, complimentary New Balance lending gear lending (sneakers and workout accessories), access to Westin Workout studio, free WiFi and a late 4 p.m. check out.

The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte Gives Guests A Full 24-Hour Stay

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 201 East Trade Street [map], Charlotte, NC, United States, 28202
January 28, 2013 at 1:36 PM | by | Comments (0)

Not long ago we reported on the Capella Georgetown which has no check-in or check-out hours. The concept has even made its way all the way to Australia and its Art Series hotels where Serena Williams tweeted about the hotel's policy of not kicking you out if there isn't a guest scheduled for your room. We thought this kind of perk would be limited to small, quirky hotels, but imagine our surprise when we received a news bit letting us know that The Ritz-Carlton Charlotte (apparently a favorite of Lenny Kravitz!) is now offering a guaranteed 24-hour stay for guests who check in on Saturdays.

That's right, with the new "Stay and Play 24" package, the hotel will accept check-ins at any hour on Saturday and allow departure a full 24 hours later – even if that means a Sunday evening check-out. For guests who check-in early on Saturday, check-out will be after 24 hours have passed or at noon on Sunday – whichever is later and offers more convenience for the guest. Let's hear it for a lovely leisurely weekend!

And, to top it off, the "Stay and Play 24" includes a $100 food and beverage credit that can be redeemed in the hotel's Bar Cocoa, lobby lounge, room service, or the Urban Sip restaurant. We're told that Bar Cocoa has a banging Sunday Brunch, so keep that in mind.

The "Stay and Play 24" package costs $379 a night and regular Saturday rates are $299 a night, so we're thinking with the $100 F&B credit and extra hours, this is a pretty decent deal.

New York Restaurant Week Starts Today: 10 Rezzies We Want

January 14, 2013 at 12:35 PM | by | Comments (0)

Don't skip the homemade pasta at Ai Fiori. Carbs be damned.

We always find it amusing New York Restaurant Week falls just a few weeks after the new year, when those plum hotel restaurants we've been dying to try, drop their prices for 20 whole days of diet-busting deliciousness.

This year's event goes from January 14–February 8 and patrons will be treated to three-course prix-fixe lunches for $25 and dinners for $38.00. There are over 300 restos participating (a list can be found at NYCGO), but we're detailing our Top 10 Picks here. Unless noted, these are for Mon-Friday lunch and dinner seatings. Saturday dinner isn't included, but some places do have Sunday lunch and dinner availability.

Asellina at the Gansevoort Park Avenue: We defy you not to order the veal meatballs, prosciutto and black truffle flatbread without tears rolling from your eyes. And that's just for starters. Sunday lunch and dinner included.

These Hotels Help Mend Your Man Heart Before Valentine's Day

Where: Various Hotels, United States
January 11, 2013 at 12:21 PM | by | Comments (0)

It seems cliche, but it happens every year -- people get straight up dumped around the holidays.

And what happens? You grit your teeth through Santa's hearty laughter, thinking about all the fun you should have been having. Soon you're kiss-less at the strike of midnight on New Year's Eve, and when you wake from this misery, Valentine's Day is looming around the corner. Crap.

Well, we feel your pain (seriously, we were tossed recently, too). And so do hotels, so they're offering what we refer to as "Lonely-Hearts Packages" (many dressed up as "Guys Getaways").

Here's a rundown of some ideas to pitch to your good buddies. Remember to play up how much your heart hurts and give them the proper guilt trip to come along and get you back in the game. You would do it for them!
