Over on Jaunted, you can get our inside looks at some of the world’s best airline lounges, so we thought we’d do something similar here and start talking about some of the hotel lounges we’ve frequented for our series on Hotel Club Lounges. Today, we're having a look inside the Executive Club Lounge at the Four Seasons Hong Kong.

Set within the International Finance Centre, the Four Seasons sits nearly on the water’s edge on Hong Kong Island. Before we zoomed up to the 45th floor to peek inside the hotel’s Executive Club Lounge, we had breakfast in The Lounge downstairs, which had us pleasantly surprised for its relatively affordable menu. Hong Kong’s luxury hotels are notoriously expensive, so we wouldn’t have thought scrambled eggs on toasted English muffins with bacon and avocado, a fresh orange juice, and a latte would take the total only up to just over US$20. It was delicious too, and the free WiFi for 2 hours helped us take care of a few things as well.

Stepping out of the lift on level 45, you turn to face the reception desk at the end of a short hallway. We liked the dramatic black high-gloss walls, the sculpture, and the colorful painting at the back. The hotel has 399 rooms and suites, with some categories having either a Western or contemporary Chinese design. Club access costs HKD1,400 (about $180) a night for two people, and is included with Club Rooms and Suites.

Over on Jaunted, you can get our inside looks at some of the world’s best airline lounges, so we thought we’d do something similar here and start talking about some of the hotel lounges we’ve frequented for our series on Hotel Club Lounges. Today, we're having a look inside the recently renovated Grand Club Lounge at the Grand Hyatt Erawan in Bangkok, Thailand.

While the mixed-use complex that will eventually house the Park Hyatt Bangkok is still going up, the Tony Chi-led renovations at sister hotel Grand Hyatt Erawan are now complete, including the 17th floor Grand Club lounge facing Radjadamri Road.

A small number of rooms are located on the same floor, but if you have access to the Grand Club, it’s worth seeing whether you can get one – if not there – on floors 16 or 18. These are connected to the 17th by a staircase, which beats taking the elevator up and down. We loved some of the artwork on display, like the sculpture above at the entrance.

Over on Jaunted, you can get our inside looks at some of the world’s best airline lounges, so we thought we’d do something similar here and start talking about some of the hotel lounges we’ve frequented for our series on Hotel Club Lounges. Today, we're having a look inside the Club Lounge at The Langham Hotel in Pasadena, Calif.

The Langham Pasadena, a grand hotel with an old world luxury style (personally, one of our favorite kinds of hotels), features quite a bit of modern creature comforts in the guest rooms--from plush bedding to flat-screen TVs, Chuan Spa toiletries, 24-hour room service, comfortable work spaces and best of all, free WiFi. Which is why booking a club room at an extra $150 or so a night isn't exactly a necessity. But it doesn't disappoint either.

Located on the 8th floor, the club is open from 6:30am to 9pm during the week and until 10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. There are five different food and beverage services throughout the day from continental breakfast to light snack to "cordials" in the evening.

Sheraton Club Managers Now Ready to Assist Club Level Guests

March 18, 2014 at 11:22 AM | by | Comments (0)

Brittany Markwis, VIP & Club Manager at Sheraton New York Club Lounge

Sheraton Hotels are upping their club level game by hiring 350 dedicated club managers worldwide.

These managers will be responsible for handling the requests of their club-level guests, starting with pre-arrival questions about their room preferences and handling any requests that come up during their stay. So if you're in a club-level room at a Sheraton, don't go directly to the concierge. Instead, hit up your club manager instead.

The hiring of these managers is Sheraton's way of capitalizing on their Sheraton Club service which the hotel brand says is now a $500 million business, driving 15-20 percent of the total revenue at each Sheraton. Looks like the $120 million investment Sheraton made into these clubs worldwide is paying off.

An OC Rite of Passage: Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel Turns 30, Gets a New Look

August 27, 2013 at 9:15 AM | by | Comments (0)

The Ritz-Carlton news just keeps rolling in: we’ve heard about new things happening in destinations as disparate as Israel, Bali, Aruba, Japan and beyond already. Closer to home, the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel – in Orange County, Los Angeles – is marking its last year as a twenty-something with new-look guestrooms, new f&b outlets, and more.

Perched high on the cliffs above the crashing waves of the Pacific, the hotel’s location was the source of inspiration for the new design. That translates into lots of pale blues against white walls and sheets, with contrasting dark wood in the headboard and furniture. It’s the kind of beach-y modern that sits midway between the more traditional Ritz-Carlton wealthy- great-aunt look and younger urbanite style you’d find in its Georgetown, DC hotel for example.

Swissotels' Executive Lounges are Getting a Swish New Look

June 19, 2013 at 10:24 AM | by | Comments (0)

Swissotels is glamming up their hotels' executive lounges and to start, they've created a mini-version at their headquarters in Zurich. But unlike most hotel companies who keep their model rooms under lock and key, Swissotels is putting theirs on full display to the public.

The new DesignLab, as it's called, resembles a modern “Arvenstübli” or pine parlour which combines traditional Swiss design with contemporary design and technology. Here, DesignLab creator Karsten Schmidt and Director of Interior Design for Swissotels, breaks down the pine parlour elements:

“Drawers and furniture have been decorated with ornaments in the style of traditional Swiss Sgraffito, which is still to be found on the facade of many buildings in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.

The engravings and carvings originate from the Appenzeller wood-carver Roman Räss, who has created a name for himself outside of the well-known woodcarving town of Brienz, with his contemporary work and art projects. Selected design pieces such as the Bell Tables of Sebastian Herkner for ClassiCon, the book merry-go-round of Roderick Vos for Linteloo, the Etch Lights of Tom Dixon, the moooi chairs by Marcel Wanders or the Eames Rocking Chair of C. and B. Eames for Vitra, supplement the ambience in the new DesignLab."

Millennium UN Plaza Spruces Up Its West Tower In Time For The Fall

Manhattan's east side isn't exactly teeming with trendy, modern hotels, so it's good to hear that one of the area's more prominent places, the Millennium UN Plaza, is embarking on an elaborate three-phase renovation project, with the first phase set to be completed this fall.

Built in 1976, the hotel is comprised of two glass towers, which up until now have basically been separate but equal parts of the same building. Now, in addition to the property-wide renovation, Millennium is setting out to re-define one of those towers as a more luxury-oriented section of the hotel, with slightly higher rates, better views, better amenities, and a 30th floor Skyline Club.

Inside the Club Lounge at the New Hilton Frankfurt Airport

Where: Frankfurt Airport - The Squaire, Frankfurt, Germany

Over on Jaunted, you can get our inside looks at some of the world’s best airline lounges, so we thought we’d do something similar here and start talking about some of the hotel lounges we’ve frequented lately for our series on Hotel Club Lounges. Today, we're having a look inside the Executive Lounge at the very new Hilton within The Squaire complex at Frankfurt International Airport.

When you're an executive lounge at an airport hotel, it's probably a good idea to mirror the upscale airline lounges found next door, right? Right. So when the Hilton Frankfurt Airport finally opened last December, they kept that jet set appeal all the way up through the executive lounge.

We popped into the lounge only a few days ago, thanks to one of our buddies at Australian Business Traveller and his Hilton status. Upstairs in the shiny, zeppelin-like SQUAIRE complex, the Hilton's lounge overlooks the atrium lobby and—if you're lucky—the glass roof will give you brief glimpses of airplanes taking off right overhead.

Inside the Club Lounge at The Conrad Hong Kong

Over on Jaunted, you can get our inside looks at some of the world’s best airline lounges, so we thought we’d do something similar here and start talking about some of the hotel lounges we’ve frequented lately for our series on Hotel Club Lounges. Today, we're having a look inside the Executive Lounge at the Conrad Hong Kong, and some impressive thunderstorms out the window.

Earlier this year we had a peek at the pool that belongs to the Conrad Hong Kong, a 61-story tall tower attached to the luxury Pacific Place mall on Hong Kong Island. Now we can follow up with a little more detail on the hotel's Executive lounge, located on the 59th floor.

When booked on the Executive floor, you are whisked straight up to the lounge upon arrival for check in, while sitting down and having your first drink. Located on the harbour side of the hotel, the lounge offers fantastic views over Hong Kong Island towards Tsim Tsa Tshui across the water.

Executive floor rooms are from floor 57 and up, but we'd recommend to request a room on floor 58, 59, or 60. Floors 58 and 60 are connected to the lounge via a small spiral staircase, which makes popping to your room much easier than waiting for an elevator for all of two floors.

Over on Jaunted, you can get our inside looks at some of the world’s best airline lounges, so we thought we’d do something similar here and start talking about some of the hotel lounges we’ve frequented lately for our series on Hotel Club Lounges. Today, HotelChatter contributor Eric Rosen takes us along with him to the Club Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Istanbul.

Though the regular service at an upscale property like the Ritz-Carlton Istanbul is often impeccable, getting a Club Level room here confers a host of added benefits and perks. The hotel has dedicated Club Level floors on the 11, 12 and 14 stories, but guests staying in rooms on other floors can also obtain club access for a premium fee added onto the room rate (about 65 euros per day, from what we can tell from the online reservations system).
