Save on W Hotels (And Bedding) at Rue La La

So you know about private-sale site Jetsetter. But have you shopped Rue La La yet? Similar to Jetsetter’s Gilt Groupe sister, it mostly deals in fashion sales but today Rue La La has two W Hotels sales going on.
The W Hotels Boutique has savings on Ws around the country, from Dallas and Chicago to Boston and Seattle. The rates listed are available Thursday to Saturday, through March 28, 2010. Some of the better deals are at W Silicon Valley for $89 a night; W Atlanta - Perimeter for $130 a night; and W Chicago Lakeshore and City Center for $199 a night.

What Do You Always Bring With You To Hotels?

Is this hotel bed missing your favorite stuffed animal?
We've been on a bit of a hotel bender lately, staying in four hotels in less than a week and today we're finally checking out to crash in a real apartment for a while. But all this packing, checking in, unpacking, packing again and checking out has us not only tired and weary of hotel living but also, a little scratchy.
No, it's not bed bugs. We chalk it up to slightly less than luxurious bedding. But also two of the hotels we stayed in were brand-new so the sheets have not been softened up yet by multiple washings.
Making it worse are the hotel toiletries which are not built with supreme moisturizing action like our body wash at home. And we've gone through numerous little bottle of the lotion provided by the hotels. In fact, the other day we had to go to a drugstore and buy a giant vat of moisturizer. We're sitting in it right now.
So we're starting to think we might need to bring a few things with us during our next hotel bender--you know, aside from gadgets, chargers and clothes.

70 Park Avenue Reminds Us That It's Sleep Week

So, apparently it's National Sleep Awareness Week. Which means hotels have launched an absurd marketing blitz to hype their bedding options. Contrived? Sure, but we like sleeping just as much as anyone.
The 70 Park Avenue in Manhattan reminds us that they have a complete "pillow library" available for guests. You can even email the pillow librarian before arrival to make sure your favorite headrest is waiting when you check in.
You can also try the "Sweet Dreams" nightcap, a Dreamerz chocolate drink to help you fall asleep. If that doesn't do it for you, try the hotel's evening cocktail hour. Red wine always makes us sleepy.
