It seems that hotels are the best places to film fake break-up movies.
Last month, Sarah Silverman and Matt Damon put out a hilarious video/song called, "I'm F-ing Matt Damon" which was filmed at Miami Beach's Delano Hotel.
For a while now we heard Jimmy Kimmel would do a video response called, "I'm F-ing Ben Affleck" and here it is. This video was filmed at the Hollywood Roosevelt..
We still love the original, but this is pretty funny. Brad Pitt appears as a FedEx man, and there's a "We Are the World" type of scene that has tons of celebs and musicians from Cameron Diaz to Robin Williams to Joan Jett, Macy Gray, Perry Farrell, Don Cheadle and well, you should watch it to see the others.
We almost lose it when we see Huey Lewis but then Josh Groban comes on playing the piano. Also we learn Harrison Ford has a "Honk If You're F-ing Ben Affleck" bumper sticker.
What does Jessica Simpson do when she has a new man in her life? Well, she makes sure that she is photographed with him at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
JSimp and Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo hit up VIP club Teddy's to help celebrate her ex-assistant Cacee Cobb's 30th birthday on Saturday night. Since Jess is such a frequent visitior, perhaps would care to comment on our OpenThread about service at Thompson Hotels?
We spent Saturday night at the Hollywood Roosevelt and we picked probably the biggest night of the year at the hotel to stay there---the night of the Hollywood Roosevelt Halloween party.
The entire hotel--from the lobby to Teddy's to Tropicana--was transformed into one big Halloween party. Funny enough, we were headed to a different Halloween party at Social Hollywood (also attended by a certain scary but famous clown.)
Security was tight on every front of the hotel but fortunately for us, once we let them know we were hotel guests (each security outpost had a list of guest names) we were ushered inside.
While we skulked around Hollywood Boulevard just as Prince's first show at the Hollywood Roosevelt was about to start, the LA Times was inside, walking the purple carpet amongst "200 beautiful people" and sitting three feet away from Prince as he jammed throughout the night. And it was a long night.
The paper reports that Prince didn't show up for the later, more intimate jazz session until 4am. But despite some sound problems (the LA Times blames that on the hotel's Blossom Room which was "expected in a room that's also been used for bar mitzvahs"), the night went off without a hitch.
With the announcement of Prince's intimate concerts at the Hollywood Roosevelt yesterday, we are sure the email hotline they released (3121HRH@ThompsonHotels.com) has been burning up with ticket requests.
A good Friend of HotelChatter, who is a bit naive in thinking that she will actually be able to acquire these coveted tickets without any sort of celebrity attachment, emailed her request for Prince tickets yesterday. We're live on the scene with her story.
UPDATE: Since we wrote this story at around 5:45am PST, we got the dates wrong. Prince starts this weekend, the 23rd and 24th. He will have three more shows next weekend as well, June 28-30.
The time has come. Prince will indeed be performing at the Hollywood Roosevelt, starting June 28.
Called "Prince Intimate Shows", the concert will only allow 200-people in for a glimpse at Prince, along with dinner and a jazz session. As we predicted last week, ticket prices are combo's of Prince's favorite numbers--with standing-room-only tix going for $312.10 and the ones with actual seats, and we presume dinner, are selling for $3,121 for two people.
Prince will do two shows at the hotel this weekend and three more concerts the following weekend. After that he goes off to Europe for some other scheduled concerts. So as a Thompson insider says, "It's kind of a big deal."
Email 3121HRH@ThompsonHotels.com to book the show.
The NYT Styles Section recently checked in on the go-to spot for young Hollywood, Teddy's inside the notorious Hollywood Roosevelt.
As we have documented for nearly three years, the hotel's nightlife has been home to many celebs, most of them not of legal drinking age. (cough, Lohan, cough.) But now that the California alcohol board is cracking down on underage drinking in the clubs, the Grey Lady wants to know how Teddy's is coping.
So far they seem to be abiding the rules. The bouncer turned down a "local internet celebrity", 17-year-old Corey Kennedy, probably because of Lindsay Lohan's Memorial Day weekend meltdown.
"The door people everywhere in Hollywood are being really strict with IDs now," said Sivan Goldstein, 24, who at 11:30 p.m. was lounging by the hotel's pool bar, known as the Tropicana. "It's changed since the Lindsay incident."
Thompson Hotels' entertainment manager, Med Abrous, said he's ID everyone except movie producer Steven Bing, because he has a "full head of gray hair."
But the NYT is quick to point out Mr. Bing wouldn't be at home here since the bar caters to 20-somethings who can afford the bar's signature drink: an $18 Millionaire Mojito, with 10 Cane Rum and Veuve Clicquot. So if you're 26 and at Teddy's, you're probably the old guy or gal in the club. Getting "old" is fun, huh?
UPDATE: Prince has finalized his contracts for at least five concerts, starting on June 23. The full scoop is here.
We got a bit excited, as did seemingly everyone in the music and celeb blogosphere, that Prince would be starting up a seven-week gig of Friday night shows at the infamous Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
Last we heard, the contracts were in the process of being finalized and the first show date was set for this Friday, June 15.
Yet a reliable HotelChatter tipster informed us that Prince will not be singing/cooking/playing jazz/shooting hoops with guests this Friday. Our source maintains that nothing is official in regards to Prince playing at the hotel, but everyone involved is optimistic.
Furthermore, the above photo of a marquee touting that "the Revolution was just around the corner" was actually taken over a year ago when Prince performed at the hotel during Amanda Scheer-Demme's reign--remember her?
None of this means Prince, won't do a series of shows at the Roosevelt Hotel, we still think he will, or are at least still extremely hopeful he will, however, don't get in line this Friday--there will be no show.
Meanwhile, LAist has speculated that ticket prices will contain Prince's favorite numbers 3121, like $3,121 for one ticket. We're hoping he picks the wallet-friendly price of $31.21 instead.
