It's the most wonderful time of the year! We love the holiday seasons because its when our alcohol problem gets overlooked all in the name of spreading cheer, peace on earth, Jesus was born on this day and blah blah blah. What better way can we celebrate this than by saddling up to a hotel bar and ordering one of their special Holiday Cocktails? We'll be taking a look at these concoctions all season long. If you have a suggestion, don't hold out on us.

Whist at the Viceroy Santa Monica is betting on the chance that people were more naughty than nice this year with their Naughty Caramel Apple concoction. Either that, or they created the drink to reward those of us who have been nothing but nice this year. The drink is served at the Cameo Bar adjacent to Whist for $15. Here's how to make it yourself:

· 6 cups organic apple cider
· 6 whole allspice berries
·½ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
·6 whole cloves
·4 3-inch cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces
·1 cup Calvados, or to taste
·½ cup Frangelico
·Caramel, to taste
·Sliced apples

In a saucepan stir together the cider, the caramel, the allspice, the nutmeg, the cloves, the cinnamon pieces, and the apple, simmer the mixture, covered, for 10 minutes, and stir in the Calvados. Heat the mixture over moderate heat until it is hot and discard the allspice, apple slices, the cloves, and the cinnamon. Add the Frangelico at the last minute. Serve in heated mugs.

Hyatt Hotels have gotten into the holiday spirit with their new Bubbles and Fizz beverage menu. As you can already guess from the name, the menu is a selection of sparkling wines, five champagnes and five cocktails.

Await Santa’s arrival on Christmas Eve with bubbly cocktails such as the traditional French 75 and Kir Royal along with new creative recipes like the Holiday Cocktail, which mixes Campari, sweet Daily’s and fresh lemon juice, topped off with the perfect amount of sparkling wine to add the element of ‘fizz.’

The menu also offers New Year's Eve champagne options like the Moet & Chandon "White Star", the Perrier Jouet "Grand Brut"and the Veuve Clicquot, Brut, “Yellow Label." Since the menu is available through February 2009, it includes Valentine's Day drinks as well like the Strawberry Blush cocktail made of Beefeater gin, strawberry, cranberry and pineapple juices finished with sparkling wine.

Guests who order these specialty drinks will also get to take home a commemorative coaster and hopefully not a wicked hangover. Prices for the drinks vary from property to property but the Hyatt Regency Princeton has listed the French 75 for $10 and the Strawberry Blush and Bellini for $9.

The full list of participating hotels is after the jump.

Pour ingredients into cocktail shaker and add crushed ice. Let stand for 5 seconds. Shake for 5 seconds. Strain mixture into martini glass and garnish with a peppermint candy cane.

The Conrad Miami has begun offering a Snowflake drink at their hotel just for the holidays. This is actually very cute because here you can catch a snowflake without actually having snow. If you're staying at the hotel, the drink is priced at $12. If you just envy drinking a Snowflake and want to make your own, here's the recipe:

· 1 oz. Vanilla Vodka
· 2 oz. * Pear Schnapps
· 1 oz. * Heavy Cream or Half-and-Half
· A Pinch of Cinnamon
· 1 Cinnamon Stick
· 1 Candy Cane

Mixing instructions: Mix all ingredients (except cinnamon), with ice in a shaker or blender. Sprinkle ground cinnamon on top.

It's the most wonderful time of the year! We love the holiday season because it's when our alcohol problem gets overlooked all in the name of spreading cheer, peace on earth, Jesus was born on this day and blah blah blah. What better way can we celebrate this freedom than by saddling up to a hotel bar and ordering one of their special Holiday Cocktails? We'll be taking a look at these concoctions all season long. If you have a suggestion, don't hold out on us.

The Hotel Palomar Westwood's BLVD 16 restaurant in Los Angeles has gone gung-ho for the holidays with three specialty cocktails. How convenient it is that we like to drink a lot and how convenient it is that we live just a few miles (a quick cab ride) from the hotel. Even better, these specialty cocktails are more reasonably priced than most drinks in Los Angeles.

The Holiday Cocktails menu is listed after the jump.
