Four Seasons Chicago Will Have a 'Hot Choc Doc' On Staff This Holiday Season

Even though the temperatures are falling Chicago, the hotel scene is getting hotter! And over at the Four Seasons Chicago there's a "doc" on staff whose sole job is to warm you up.
Starting November 25, The Hot Chocolate Doctor will be making "room calls" at the hotel with his mobile hot chocolate bar. Yes, a mobile hot chocolate bar. Swoon.
The doctor's bag is stuffed with toppings and flavor infusions such as marshmallow crème, caramel drizzle and cinnamon cotton candy which will surely please the kids. Adults can also ask the doctor for some "medication", i.e. a selection of rums and schnapps. Drinks are $8 for the kiddie drinks and $14 for the "grown-up" versions.
And much like a real doctor, the hot chocolate doctor is on a tight schedule as he's only available from 4pm to 6pm daily. Thankfully, there's no $45 co-pay.

Skating In The Sky Opens At W New York Downtown Tomorrow

Skating in NYC is a classic holiday experience, but Wollman Rink in Central Park and the Rockefeller Center Ice Rink can get mighty crowded. If only there was a spot downtown where you could strap on your skates and channel Johnny Weir. Oh, wait! As of tomorrow, there will be--at the W New York Downtown.
Yep, from December 18 through February 14, guests, locals and tourists can all enjoy the hotel's elevated skating rink, which has been installed where the Living Room Terrace usually is on the fifth floor. What a great way to utilize the space when it's too cold for mere sitting and sipping!

Have A Holiday Cocktail At Jumeirah Essex House For $10 This Friday

Here's a holiday riddle for you: When do we love a holiday cocktail more than ever before? When it's a mere ten bucks! OK, so that wasn't really a riddle but it is almost unheard of for a fancy hotel to offer specialty cocktails for less than $15. Which is why we're psyched about the special happy hour taking place this Friday from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at South Gate, the restaurant at Jumeirah Essex House in New York.
The cocktail menu at South Gate already includes classics such as The Cougar and The Stork Club ($16 each) but at this Friday's Happy Hour you can get a Spiced Cranberry Agave cocktail for just $10. Suh-weet!

Ginger Snap Cookies Now In Cocktail Form At The Fairmont Dallas

Truth be told, we're much more into savory bites, even when the Christmas cookie craze hits... right about now. But after hearing about the Ginger Snap Cookie Cocktail served at Pyramid Restaurant & Bar inside the Fairmont Dallas we may be persuaded to grow a sweet tooth, after all.
Apparently, Pyramid’s head bartender Ray Elizardo was inspired by the smell of gingerbread that's in the air this time of year, and decided to turn it into a digestif. Smart man. We also like Elizardo's reminder that ginger can help to calm the discomfort that so often follows overindulgence.
Of course, in our translation this means we can eat an entire holiday spread and then follow it up with two or three of these cocktails and still feel light on our feet. That's what he means, right?

Get Punch Drunk This Season at Royalton's Forty Four Bar

As you might have noticed, we've been working our way through hotel's Holiday Cocktails lately. 'Tis the season, after all. And while we've loved most of the drinks we've tried in martini glasses, champagne flutes and highball glasses, what we'd really love to order is a punch bowl. What could be more festive?
If only we could drag enough of our drinking buddies to the Royalton, we'd be able to make this daydream a reality.
The revamped Forty Four helmed by The Cocktail Collective has kept the punch menu that was already in place, giving patrons the choice of four rum-based punches in addition to its new list of classics with a twist.

The Empire's Cocktails Will Get You Into The Holiday Spirits

The Ho Ho Hot Toddy.
It's almost cocktail hour, folks, and since we're now officially in December and Hanukkah is here, we think the drinks consumed tonight and this weekend should be as festive as possible. If you're in NYC, the Empire Hotel is one property that's getting behind the Holiday Cocktail festivities 100 percent.
This isn't just a glass of milk with a candy cane stuck in it. This is a Ho Ho Hot Toddy, made with your choice of Jameson or Bacardi Gold, butterscotch liquor and, yes, steamed milk. Just the thing to warm you up after a stroll through chilly Central Park, no?

Saving On Rooms at W Downtown Means More Money For A Cocktail

Hotel bars are not always cheap, we know. But if you can save on your room rate, you can channel the savings into your drinking budget. Which is what we'd do if we booked that $199 Travelzoo rate for the W New York Downtown.
And the drink we'd spring for, especially right now in prime holiday season, would be the Autumn Spark cocktail, served at the hotel's Living Room bar.

Get Into the Cold with Nordic-Inspired Cocktails at The Trafalgar Hotel's Rooftop
The last time we visited The Trafalgar Hotel's rooftop bar we couldn’t get a seat so when we went along to the preview of its Nordic themed Christmas cocktails we were surprised to find it pretty dead by 8:30pm. But we’ll give it a break, it was a Monday night.
The bar, which opened in July, has some of the best views in London (Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament, The London Eye and during the festive season Trafalgar Square's famous Norwegian Christmas tree, the tallest Christmas tree in the UK!) and now it's unveiled a new look for winter.
A giant dome which covers the entire bar space, meaning it can stay open all winter long. And with the amount of heaters around we couldn't even feel the cold.

The Holidays In A Glass: The Velvet Spice at Andaz 5th Ave's bar downstairs

Do you need a little Dutch courage to pump you up for Thanksgiving travel next week? If you're in New York, you may want to consider this concoction which helped us get a head start on the festive spirits recently. It looks like the holidays, smells like the holidays and tastes like the holidays (what, yours don't taste like cocktails?).
The Velvet Spice is just one of a number of cocktails we sampled at Andaz 5th Avenue's bar downstairs, but it was one of our favorites.

Holidays Means Free Nights (And Cocktails) In Beverly Hills

What goes better with hotels than free cocktails? Well, free cocktails go great with anything if you ask us, but we just heard about a pretty sweet deal being offered by eleven hotels in Beverly Hills called the And To All A Free Night package. From now through January 10, when you book two nights at any of the following hotels, you get a third night free, as well as a complimentary holiday cocktail.

Hunker Down with Hot Toddies at the Fairmont Dallas
You know how much we love our cocktails here at HotelChatter. We'll find any reason to celebrate with a cocktail and fortunately for us (but not for our liver), hotels feel the same way. We've slurped down Summer Cocktails and Halloween Cocktails and now we're ready for the main event, Holiday Cocktails. We'll be taking a look at these concoctions all season long. If you have a suggestion, don't hold out on us. (Photos, recipes and prices are helpful too!)
The saying goes, "Don't Mess With Texas" but thanks to the current deep freeze across America, we Yankees are going to have our way with the two hot toddies being offered by the Fairmont Dallas.
The Hot Tea Toddy ($9) is for those who want to keep it simple. The drink mixes some Canton Ginger Liquer in an Irish mug of jasmine green tea. The Red Hot Toddy, however, is for those who want a real kick with their drink. The concoction ($8) has cider, Malbec, three Red Hot candies, a spoonful of agave nectar and some good old Canadian Whiskey. Both are served in the hotel's Pyramid Bar which is open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to midnight and from noon to midnight on Sundays. Want to spend the night? Rates here start at $140 a night.
Can't get to Dallas? Make your own hot toddy with the recipes below.

Get Drunk on a Pump at Trump Chicago
You know how much we love our cocktails here at HotelChatter. We'll find any reason to celebrate with a cocktail and fortunately for us (but not for our liver), hotels feel the same way. We've slurped down Summer Cocktails and Halloween Cocktails and now we're ready for the main event, Holiday Cocktails. We'll be taking a look at these concoctions all season long. If you have a suggestion, don't hold out on us. (Photos, recipes and prices are helpful too!)
Is it Monday already? It must be time for a drink then. Maybe a holiday drink to take your mind off the bad December weather. Perhaps the Pump Jr. cocktail that's yours for $18 at the Rebar in the Trump Chicago.
Pumpkin and chocolate might sound like a likely combination, but add in some vanilla vodka and garnish with a nip of cinnamon and a slice of orange, and it goes down a treat. So much so that on our tasting, we were considering investing in a carafe of it for $80 or a punch bowl for $235. Well, not really, but it was good. Here's how to make it:
