O Canada! The Waldorf-Astoria Collection, by Hilton Hotels, announced today their first hotel in Canada--The Waldorf=Astoria Hotel & Residences Montreal.
With 32 floors, 250 hotel rooms, 76 residences (that are sure to cost a fortune), ballroom space, "signature" restaurants, bars, a spa, and a fitness center, the Waldorf will make sure its presence is felt in "Our Home and Native Land!"
All summer long, Hilton is teaming up with Live Nation to give HHonors members free tickets to tons of live performances, from Toby Keith to 311:
Each Hilton HHonors stay completed at any Hilton Family hotel between June 16 and August 31, 2008 earns you one (1) complimentary general admission lawn ticket to the top music and entertainment events of the summer courtesy of Live Nation.
There are some unusual ways to get married, and the Hilton Petaling Jaya in Malaysia is definitely offering to help you out with one of them: the ol' underwater wedding. Yep, they have a special Underwater Wedding Package for the apparently big enough market of people who want to get married, underwater, in Malaysia.
The first catch is that you have to invite at least 60 guests, but only 8 of them can be underwater including the bride and groom.
So, hypothetically, let's just say you've been eyeing a $500.00 dress from Bloomingdales for a while. Or maybe, let's say, you're wanting to buy Dad one of those life-changing gadgets from Brookstone for Father's Day but you're not sure you can rationalize spending $100.00 on something that appears to be an umbrella for his grill.
Now you can feel a bit less guilty when you make said purchases because you can earn Hilton Honors points for every dollar spent.
Hilton has just rolled out the HHonors Earnings Mall, which is essentially a portal through which you can access a bunch of online stores and, when you make purchases through the Earnings Mall, you score a certain quantity HHonors points per dollar.
The Gas and Go package gives guests a gas gift card for $25, free self-parking, and breakfast buffet for two.
The cost is $30 more than the best available rate which hovers around $180 a night and does not normally include breakfast.
For some reason, we always thought self-parking was free at hotels, but that was probably just in our fantasy hotel land. At the Hilton San Diego Del Mar it costs $14 to self-park, so this is a nice bit of savings.
Man, Hilton has been all about making new friends lately: earlier this week, they welcomed the super-cool Ross Klein and now they're welcoming our own four-legged BFF's!
Yesterday, Hilton announced plans to welcome doggers and kitties into their hotels by the end of the summer.
Hilton's new Pet Friendly program will designate a handful of rooms in each hotel to boast a variety of special amenities to pamper your furry little monster.
Pet Friendly rooms will feature pet beds and accessories designed by William Wegman (the photographer famous for those cute Weimaraner portraits).
Plus, the carpets, drapery and upholstered furniture will undergo special deep-cleaning procedures between each furry guest so your dog won't be going insane and sniffing around all over the place.
The Moscow Times reports that the Hotel Leningradskaya, an architectural vestige from the Stalin era, complete with baroque pillars, a six-story chandelier, and a pair of German-made lions in the lobby, has just reopened as a Hilton hotel.
Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov missed the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the second time, but the hotel officially opened after several years of renovations, according to the paper.
The hotel's website, on the other hand, says the hotel will be "open for business soon - Reservations can be made for arrival as of 1st August." Inquiring minds want to know!
Yesterday's Page Six reported that Ross Klein has resigned as President of Starwood Hotels and Resort's Luxury Brand Group (but best known as the person behind W Hotels) due to differences with Starwood's new CEO, Frits van Paasschen.
His position is being given to Paul McAveety who was recently hired as Starwood's Chief Branding Officer.
From Page Six:
He didn't get along with Frits, everyone knows that. When Frits came here, the problem started," said the source. "And he was definitely having an issue with Starwood in general, because someone moved into the offices where Ross was and began micromanaging. He resigned because he wasn't having a great time anymore."
