If the She Said/He Said reviews on the Waterfront Tower at Harrah's in Atlantic City, left you wanting more on what it's like to stay inside the hotel, then look no further than our video tour of room 41076.

And here was our initial reaction to the room:

The colors were very modern, red and tan, with a HUGE LCD HDTV, but it was obvious there was not an HDTV Signal--the image quality was clearly lacking. Our room was on the 41st floor and well, of course that afforded us great views.

The bathroom was clearly modeled after The Borgata--separate room for the toilet, glass enclosed shower with bench, marble floor, PLENTY of towels, PLENTY of room.

Our only issue with the room was what appeared to be a lack of insulation. We could hear everyone in the rooms around us. Not fun.

Last month, we hit up the free room promotion that Harrah's in Atlantic City was doing for its new Waterfront Tower. Two of our NY-area based contributing editors took a chance on this free room and wrote back with their impressions. Since one is male and one is female, we decided to do a "She Said, He Said" review. Here's JetSetCD's She Said review. Enjoy.

Luck was quite the lady on Thursday night in Atlantic City, not only showering New Yorkers with the complimentary room in the new Waterfront Tower at Harrah's, but also with free drink coupons, buffet discounts and a general escape from the city grind.

First things first. I have to admit that The Borgata is my all time favorite Atlantic City Casino/Hotel, but for one night I was excited and willing to give up "My Happy Place" for the new 44-story gleaming high-rise called Harrah's Waterfront Tower.

I've lived in NJ all my life, and I've visited Atlantic City millions of times but Harrah's is the only Casino I had never set foot in before, so I didn't know what to expect. I ended up comparing it to The Borgata. Hey, the Borgata is still the only casino that's making money in AC these days so they must be doing something right.

To say the least, I was disappointed with Harrah's and it all started with check-in.

Drinking at The Pool.

In case you didn't get one of the keys handed out by half-naked girls in lower Manhattan or just couldn't swing ending the work week early, we mustered up the strength to head down to Harrahs Atlantic City and check out their Take Over the Tower free night promotion.

Next week, when we recover from the odd hangover induced by free booze and saltwater taffy, we'll have full coverage of what happens when 1,500 New Yorkers descend upon Harrahs newest hotel tower for a single night of penny slots and crab leg buffets.

Let's just say that in terms of partying, the Borgata has nothing on Harrahs for today.

Harrahs To Rolls Out Buffett's Margaritaville in Biloxi

The other week we found out that the Trump Marina Hotel would turn into a Margaritaville Hotel & Casino which we thought would be the first one to open. Yet Hotel Maven PalmettoSon pointed us to the Margaritaville already in the works in Biloxi, MS.

Jimmy Buffett and Harrah's have paired up to build a massive hotel down there, one of the metro areas in Mississippi hardest hit by Hurricane Katrina.

The hotel chain plans to spend more than $700 million this summer building the hotel, casino, restaurant, and cabanas, with a final budget of more than $100B. (Thassright, billion.)

The hotel will have 420 rooms in addition to the 378 rooms from the existing Casino Magic property which will be fully renovated. A full-service spa will be included (we foresee a Margarita salt scrub treatment happening here) and of course, a state-of-the-art Margaritaville Restaurant that anchors the entire property.

The hotel won't be completed until 2010 but for fanatics and parrotheads, check out the hotel's Construction-cam.

Tell us: Would you stay in a Margaritaville Hotel & Casino or are you Hooters all the way baby?

Snapshot :: The Logo-Painted Harrahs Girls on Wall Street

Man: "Hmm...are you included in this free room thingie?" Girl: "As if!"

As promised, we took a snapshot of the logo-painted Harrahs reps who were giving out free rooms for June 5th on Wall Street today.

When we heard the word "representatives", we definitely pictured fun sales/marketing employees who would just wear some bright-colored Harrahs gear and maybe some face and arm paint.

Oh no, these girls were contracted for the day to wear tube tops and shorts and some serious Harrahs bodypaint. The attention-getting scheme worked. There was a steady crowd around the girls--mostly Wall Streeters ogling the girls and tourists trying to use their rudimentary English to inquire about the promotion.

However, the free room thing at Harrahs Atlantic City new tower, the Water Tower, is legit. All you have to do is log onto www.takeoverthetower.com and enter the code listed on the key (NYC). While the Waterfront premium room is free, the taxes and additional fees are on you. BIG CATCH HERE: You must book by May 18th.

Harrah's Atlantic City Giving Out Free Hotel Rooms To New Yorkers This Thursday

New Yorkers in the Financial District might get lucky this Thursday and it won't have anything to do with the stock market or the boozy after-work happy hour.

As a way to promote their new Water Tower, the Harrah's Resort Atlantic City is going to be giving away $1 million worth of free hotel rooms in four major East Coast cities, starting May 15th in New York.

All lucky consumers who receive the keys in New York City's Financial District, specifically the Canyon of Heroes area on lower Broadway near the 4/5 Wall St. subway station, between the hours of 11:00am to 2:00pm, will be invited to reserve their complimentary room for one night only - Thursday, June 5, 2008 - designated Harrah's Loves New York Night.

How to spot the Harrah's reps? They will be logo-painted so you can't miss them. Logo-painted? Yup we were curious about that too. A rep says:

They'll be dressed in body paint, with the Harrah's logo painted on them

So there's really no excuse for not getting a free room here. And don't worry, we'll pop down to the FiDi on Thursday to snap a picture of these logo-painted peeps.

Keep reading for more about the promotion.

Las Vegas Strip Hotels Get New Round of Fire Inspections

3/26/2008 at 4:30 PM
Tags: , , ,

An AP news report published on Monday said that Las Vegas' Clark County officials are going over permits and work done with a new fine tooth comb at five additional hotels on the famous Vegas Strip.

Bally's, Caesar's Palace, The Imperial Palace, Paris Las Vegas and Bill's Gamblin' Hall & Saloon are getting the once, er, twice-over to make certain inspection permits were properly issued. We're certain hotel execs are betting all aces, but you never know. Vegas folk seem always to find something somewhere amiss. Well, at least on CSI.

The county inspections follow in the aftermath of the January three-alarm fire at the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino (above) when nearly 5,000 guests and 1,000 employees were forced to evacuate the premises, and at least 13 people were treated for smoke inhalation.

While the hotel suffered severe damage to guest rooms on the five upper floors 27 through 32, luckily repairs were completed in quick time for the February re-opening.

According to Harrah's VP Marybel Batjer, the company is fully cooperating with local authorities. She also stated that hotel violations previously found at the company's Flamingo Las Vegas, Harrah's LV and Rio hotels already had appeared in the news. Evidently what happens in Las Vegas really stays in Las Vegas, cuz we missed those reports.
