So many of you correctly guessed last week's Guess the Hotel post right that we are probably going to have to start making these harder.
Anyways, the answer to that fugly hotel carpeting is indeed the Four Seasons George V in Paris. But do not let this carpeting deter you from the rest of the hotel, which is gorgeous.
The hotel spends about a million dollars a year on floral displays and they are worth a peek, especially if you can't afford the $1,000 room rate. You will also see the poshest of the posh clientele in this hotel, whether they be flitting through the lobby or taking tea in La Galerie, home to the fugly carpeting.
Our only complaint is that while this is a beautiful and luxurious hotel, it did feel old and a bit like a staid Four Seasons, which is just a tad too antiseptic for us.
Then again, we may not know anything. We swear we saw the same version of the Four Seasons rug in The Louvre's Denon wing. Photographic evidence after the jump.
We're back with the latest installment of Guess the Hotel. This edition is going to be hard as it's focused on this seriously fugly hotel carpeting. You know how the game works. Put your answers in comments below. But first, here are some hints to help you along.
· This is actually a very swanky hotel in a very chic neighborhood. · Canadians like it here but it's not in Canada. More like France. · Flower-enthusiasts like it here too. · This fugly carpeting was shot in the hotel's lobby lounge/tea room.
Our Guess the Hotel from yesterday was easy, and hotel maven CourtneyMay was the first to call it. It was the Pacific Palisades in Vancouver, a Kimpton property with a sort of funky retro beach-y vibe. [Note: when we think Canada, "retro beach-y" does not come to mind. We know.]
We hinted about the wine hour -- a tradition at all Kimpton properties -- and noted that they talk funny here. Since the Pacific Palisades is the only Canadian Kimpton (and Canada is clearly the only place in the world where they talk funny), it should have been a dead giveaway...but we thought a shot of the home of Kimpton's famed pet concierge "desk" might give it away too.
We've got an 08.08.08 wedding to hit up today, but we'll be back with a full review next week.
Guess the Hotel is back -- and we thought the last few were kind of tough, so we're givin' you an easy one today.
If you're new to the game, here's how it works (sit down for this -- it's complicated): we give you some hints, you give us some guesses in comments below. Are you ready? Yes? Okay. Onto the hints!
· The hotel was named to the 2004 Conde Nast Traveler Gold List, named one of the "World's Best Places To Stay."
· It calls itself "fun and fabulous"...which we like because it reminds us of us! (Just kidding. But not really.)
· The hotel hosts a wine hour in an art gallery every night.
We spent a very short time in the hotel as we got in late at night and had to be out the door by 10am for a meeting. However, this was plenty of time for us to realize why the hotel is one of Manhattan's best luxury hotels. That is, unless you overstep your check-out time.
Guess the Hotel returns again and this time it's not some barf-ugly Days Inn in Santa Monica. (Thank god for that!) Instead, we're bringing you a little treat from New York City.
If you're new to the game, here's how it works. We give you some hints, you give us some guesses in comments below. And away we go!
It's time for the big reveal in our latest edition of Guess the Hotel and a giant gold star sticker is in the mail to PatrickSW who correctly guessed that this fugly hotel is indeed the Days Inn in Santa Monica. Here it is in its full glory and here is how the hotel describes its unique look:
Come and experience an architecturally unique encounter at the whimsically designed Inn that is destined to lift your spirits and caress your heart.
Funny. Everytime we drive by this hotel we either gag a little or cry. Guests have mixed reviews on the place with the true bright spot here being not the pink paint but the low value. Suffice to say, we'd take an Aloft here anyday.
And we are back with another exciting installment of our most popular game here on HotelChatter---Guess The Hotel.
This one is a doozy. Please don't hold a mirror up to this image because it would crack for realz! This hotel is without a doubt one of the ugliest buildings in Los Angeles. Can you guess which one it is? Here are some hints:
· It's in West Los Angeles. · Every sinful 80s architecture fad ever invented has been embraced by (presumably) coked-out building developers. · It sports some eagle statures on its roof. We think that's to keep away the birds but like, it could totally be part of the design. · The actual brand of the hotel is not amongst the luxury set.
