That view from the Penthouse
Focus on the positive. Focus on the positive. Focus on the positive. Ok… It’s great that a hotel is trying something new. We're all about hotel technology.
Time for the negative. By “trying something new” we mean posting a video of your hotel experience via Google Glass.
House Hotels, possibly our favorite chain in Istanbul, is pimping its newest property, Vault Karaköy, by way of this video. Not sure why they’ve picked on this one to endure the Glass treatment – possibly because Karaköy is Istanbul’s trendiest nabe – but for us, at least, it’s not conquering our Glass misgivings.
On the plus side, the hotel – which opened in March in an old bank facing the Galata Bridge – looks stunning, and the staff look suitably bashful in the face of Google Glass (0:18). So let’s focus on what’s to love: an old-style cage elevator (0:21), a whopping breakfast buffet (0:34), some lovely (original?) tiling (0:39) and a bathroom with a seriously OMG view (1:11).

As they promised the other month, the The Stanford Court Hotel has now begun offering a Google Glass overnight package for interested guests.
The hotel initially offered free drinks to Google Glass owners but they've now taken the Glass upstairs to the guest rooms. The "Google Glass Explorer Package" offers guests the complimentary use of a pair of Google Glass to use during their stay, along with overnight accommodations in a deluxe room, breakfast in the hotel's Aurea cafe, and a nightly beverage in the Aurea Lounge.
In case you've never tried on Google Glass before, the hotel will give guests a brief tutorial including a creative handout that teaches one how not to be a Glasshole. #sonecessary
The package starts at just $199 a night and is available through the end of the year. Meanwhile, a real pair of Google Glass can set you back a cool $1,500 dollars. Not in San Fran? You can also try on Google Glass during your stay at the ACME Hotel in Chicago.

We thought it was cool that the ACME Hotel in Chicago was offering Google Glass as an amenity for guests to borrow during their stay but in San Francisco, the odds of guests already owning Google Glass are much higher. So the newly relaunched Stanford Court Hotel decided to offer a free drink to anyone who walks into the Aurea Lounge wearing Google Glass and subsequently uploads a photo to social media with the hashtag #stanfordcourt.
The new management at the hotel (you can read about the new hirings here) said they wanted to do this because, "of the recent string of negative press" against Google Glass. Hmm. So far this is the only tweet with the appropriate hashtag that we've seen. We can't tell if this person was wearing Google Glass or not. We think not.

Billed as a "lifestyle boutique hotel alternative," the ACME Hotel in River North has a hip, young—dare we say "alternative"—way of doing things.
First, there are blueberry-lavender "doughssants" in its coffee shop and a bar made out of leather belts in its lobby. Then, there's the technology. If you thought the Smart TVs and loads of iPod docking stations were cool, wait till you hear what the hotel is doling out now as a guest amenity: Google Glass.
