The Cosmopolitan resort development in Las Vegas: the future home of Hilton's Project Global21?

The tip line has been on fire this week as the excitement mounts for Hilton's unveiling of their new boutique brand, which has been referred to only as Project Global21 up to this point. We know the big announcement is coming sometime tomorrow (March 10th), with the news hitting the International Hotel Investment Forum in Berlin first.

We've been going back and forth on the upcoming brand's name for a while: we'd heard Quinn initially, then a few commenters brought a couple more possibilities to the table ("Vox" among them) — but we'd never really agreed on anything. Will Hilton's New Boutique Brand Be Named The Quinn?

December 10, 2008 at 9:52 AM | by | Comments (12)

[UPDATE: For the record--According to Hotels Mag Hilton PR people say they have "no information" on this name. But they didn't deny it either.]

There's been a ton of speculation surrounding Hilton Hotel's new boutique brand, headed by former W Hotels man, Ross Klein. So far, the project has been going by the code name Global21. Still, we're gonna keep the speculating, gossiping and general rumor mongering alive until then. Starting with this interesting tidbit we received from a very anonymous tipster:

It's going by the code name Global 21, and will probably end up being named The Quinn.

Hmmm...The Quinn. That's interesting. We have no idea what it refers to though.

Hilton's Boutique Brand Not Quite Ready for the Limelight

The other week we speculated (based on other internet reports) that Hilton Hotels would finally announce it's boutique hotel brand in January at the annual ALIS conference in San Diego.

Yet our giddiness over learning about a new boutique brand from one of the big-box hotels has been deflated, thanks to an industry rag's latest news.

Jeff Weinstein, Editor-In-Chief of HOTELS Magazine reports on his blog today:

As I suspected and Hilton execs all but admitted to me, this [Berlin Investment Conference] will be the time and place for Hilton to launch its new lifestyle brand on the evening of March 10.

Yup, we gotta wait until March now to hear about Hilton's plans for the boutique hotel world.
