The Five Best Hotels in D.C. For Under $150
With the opening of the W and Jefferson Hotels in DC this summer, we’ve had downtown luxury DC hotels on the brain.
But for the expense account-free folks in our midst, we thought we better take a moment to remind everyone it actually can be affordable to stay in the District — that’s right, suburban family-filled chains need not apply.
Here, we rounded up five of our favorite DC hotels where weekend rates start under $150.
1. Donovan House
Thompson Hotel’s mod Donovan House sits on Thomas Circle straddles downtown offices and trendy 14th Street restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Though if you stay here you should probably eat at the hotel’s own restaurant, Zentan, if nothing else for the teensy chance that you could run into Hanson. Oh! And good news: Zentan finally got a real website up. Rooms from $129.

Do The Monster Mash at These Halloween Hotel Bashes

Last week, we let you know of Five Hotels for a Halloween Weekend but there's actually a bunch of hotels you may want to hit up for their special Halloween festivities if you find yourself in town without a party to attend. Here are Five Halloween Hotel Bashes that you may want to just consider this weekend. We've also listed the room rates below the party hotels because the last thing you want to do is find a designated driver at 1am in the morning on Halloween. Talk about scary!
1. The Chelsea AC Hotel: New Yorkers and Philadelphians looking to get out of the city can make a quick jaunt to Atlantic City where The Chelsea is hosting their first massive Halloween party throughout all their bars and lounges, including a full haunted house designed by Blackbook mag's Steve Lewis in the hotel's C5 lounge. A costume contest will be held where the winner will get a grand prize worth up to $5,000. Victoria's Secrets models will also do double-duty Halloween night as Chelsea's Angels, the party's DJs. All tickets include a complimentary Halloween-tini with admission along with M&M’s, Sweet Tarts, Candy Corn, and Licorice. Tickets are $30, and doors open at 9pm.
Room rates start at $111 for The Annex and $147 for The Chelsea (the nicer building.)

The Five Best Hotels For Halloween Weekend

It's the most wonderful time of the year--Halloween! Even better, our favorite holidays falls on a weekend this year so you can celebrate both Mischief Night and Halloween without having to deal with a hangover at work the next day. Although we can't promise you that your coworkers won't show up in witch, cat and devil costumes on Friday anyways.
If you're planning on taking your costumes to another city this Halloween, we've put together a list of five hotels that are close enough to the scary action in town but at which you can still get a good night's sleep. After all, who really wants to sleep in a room haunted by ghosts or worse, The Shining Hotel? That film was scary! We'd like a good night's sleep instead, whether it be vodka-induced or not.

Five Hotels in NYC For Under $150

Our newest batch of hotels makes us want to scream "Recession!" from the top of our lungs you know, if the recession wasn't also costing hundreds of thousands of people their jobs.
But after years and years of watching the rates climb up and up in Manhattan and having to wait until the temperature dropped below 20 degrees to get a sort of decent deal, looking at these cheap hotels makes us want to smile...and pull out our credit cards to start booking.

You need to let loose from your full-time jobs as Dad and Mom
And you don't want to end up stepping in some frat boy's vom.
