It’s time to head back to Hallmark for a card, as Father’s Day is right around the corner—June 21 if you need to set a reminder. This might be the year to skip the tie and socks and upgrade the offering to dear old dad thanks to the folks over at Park Hyatt.
This year Park Hyatt is teaming up with Bono—you know, the one from U2—to launch a book called Sons + Fathers. The book is full of sweet stories shared between fathers and sons, including moments from celebrities and other famous fathers, like Paul McCartney, Bono, and President Bill Clinton. There's even a little anecdote from Jay Pritzker, the late founder of the Park Hyatt brand, and his son, Tom, who now heads up the luxury brand. (We’re thinking that some of these might put your own family movements to shame, but we’re sure they’ll be worth a read regardless.)
And as part of the book release, a special edition of the book will be available in the guestrooms and suites of 34 Park Hyatt hotels around the world, including the newest additions Park Hyatt Vienna and Park Hyatt New York.
Now even if Dad doesn’t care for lyrics, sketches, and poems at least he’ll be spending his day surrounding by Park Hyatt luxury. He might not seem like much of one to indulge in a spa treatment, gazillion thread-count sheets, or a room service breakfast—but we doubt he’s going to complain about it!

You're a good man, Clark.
Dear Dad, we're sorry that you've suffered through years of opening pointless gifts on Father's Day like the bland ties, the boxes of golf balls you didn't need, the fad workout equipment you did need but didn't know how to operate and for that goofy Batman water bottle with "DAD" written on the back in permanent marker (Actual gift I gave my dad. I was 9.)
This year, there's no excuse for ho-hum gifts to give your father this Sunday, thanks to these hotels and their totally not lame offerings.
For The COOL DAD: The Hotel Palomar in San Francisco has put together a "Tie One On & Throw One Back" package that gives men a one night stay at the hotel, a beer-fueled private shopping appointment at the cool casual Bonobos Guide Shop; 20 percent off Bonobos purchases; either a beard trim or a straight razor shave at People's Barber Shop; and a "Get Me a Juice Box" Lunch Box at the hotel's rooftop bar, serving two cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon, a thermos filled with a Hot Toddy and a little bar snack. Rates start at $259 a night but the package must be booked two weeks in advance. Go online at www.hotelpalomar-sf.com and use code TIEON or call 866-373-4941.
For The RUM LOVIN' DAD: The Mandarin Oriental New York is offering a special Father's Day rum tasting flight of the Facundo Rum Collection in their Asiate restaurant, the Lobby Lounge and the MObar. Each selection of the Eximo, Exquisito and Paraiso aged sipping rums can also be paired with a cheese plate. Simply sipping on the rums is $65 per person while doing the cheese pairing is $85 per person. Make your reservations by calling 212-805-8800. The tasting ends on Sunday.
Cyber Monday is a long ways off but Cyber Man-day is just around the corner!
Canyon Ranch Hotels are going after the spa-going dads for Father's Day with a new online special that kicks off on June 2. They're calling it Cyber Man-day. Hey, it's better than man-cation.
From June 2-15, if you buy a Canyon Ranch gift card online, you'll get a $50 bonus voucher for every $500. Yes, the gift cards are good for overnight stays too. And if you book exactly on June 2, you'll receive an additional service voucher for one spa, sports or integrative wellness service valued at $145.
The deal is in place at the Canyon Ranch resorts in Tucson, Miami Beach, Las Vegas, and Lenox, Mass. While the gift cards do not expire, the vouchers are good through June 30, 2015. Even better, this deal doesn't just apply to men, women can get the bonuses too! Ahhhh-mazing.

It's coming up on Father's Day, and once again, we're here to make your gift-giving experience go as smoothly as possible. How, you ask? By providing a range of perfect hotel experiences to suit all dad types! From smoking lounges to motorcycles to "sports" manicures (if you want to make a spa treatment guy-friendly, then that prefix is compulsory), we've rounded up six hotels with the best man-centric activities.
So, what are you waiting for? Read on! You've only got six days to book!
Though it's home to three championship golf courses, a shooting school and one of the best father-and-son fishing getaway spots, The Cloister at Sea Island off the coast of southern Georgia has one other man-centric feature that helps it stand out from the rest of the resorts: a Smoking Lounge. The wood-paneled room helped win the hotel a coveted spot on T+L's "World's Best Resorts" in 2006, and provides the ultimate man-cation hangout spot, with cozy leather armchairs, a fireplace, and an on-site Cigar Sommelier to help dad pick out his smoke of choice.

Hopefully, it's been a long time since you gifted dad with a homemade card or paper tie for Father's Day. Make up for your colored-outside-of-the-lines DIY gifts and honor your dad with a hotel getaway. Whether he likes fishing, spa-ing or grilling meat, we've rounded up some of the best offerings out there for your pops. Forget the craft project and let someone else do all of the work this year.
Check out our top five picks for dear old dad after the jump.
There’s something especially decadent about getting a pedicure in the jungle. Maruba Resort and Jungle Spa, in northern Belize, is offering some great spa deals this summer. Our favorite? Their signature “Mood Mud” body scrub. Brimming with minerals, Maya mud is the kind of rich goop that you’ll happily smear on your body.
You can pick the mud to match your mood: Red Daji "arouses strength, health, sex, passion, and courage." We’ll take a double dose, muchas gracias.
Over on USA Today’s Hotel Check-In blog, guest blogger John Newton culled a few fun Father’s Day hotel deals worth sharing. The column caught our eye due to how well he summed up our sentiments: “As the parent of a freelance travel writer attempting to survive the crash of American print media, my dad will have to be satisfied with Sunday brunch,” he writes. (Or, er, a well-meaning card sent cross-country.) Regardless, Newton goes on to share four options for those whose financial situations are “a little more rosy.”
Though Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa’s four-nights-for-the-price-of-three package (just $130 a night!) in Thailand sounds pretty sweet, we must say our own dad might be getting a little, um, mature for the resort’s dive center, wind-surfing classes, and sailing charters.
Nah, if we had a bottomless bank account for spending on a Father’s Day gift, we’d opt for the “Golf & Spa” package at the Sandy Lane in Barbados, which includes anywhere from five nights and two rounds of golf to 14 nights and eight rounds of golf. We would settle towards the middle with seven nights and four rounds of golf at the Country Club for a cool 6K, breakfast and one spa treatment included. Our links-loving dad would totally feel bad about not lending us the car more growing up. After all, this is the exclusive spot where Tiger Woods got married! Talk about an endorsement.
Check out Newton’s other dream dad deals here.
Stuck for Father’s Day gifts for a dad who likes to think of himself as a bit more intellek-shall than one who might want to receive a six pack or the latest Meat Loaf album?
May we suggest a ”traditional grooming experience” courtesy of the St James’s Hotel & Club? Book him a room (lucky mum will like you for that too) in June, July or August, and the hotel will throw in a free treatment at Truefitt & Hill, a 200-year-old barber shop just round the corner from the hotel where the royals like to go. There, they’ll have a ”traditional hot towel wet shave, haircut, shampoo and manicure”. So mother will like you even more.
The package costs £290 for the two of them. Pricey, yes; but he’ll also get to pretend he’s Samuel L Jackson. And that’s priceless.
Father's Day is Sunday, June 21st. You should have known that already, quite honestly. But since you probably didn't and since you totes want to assuage your guilt by giving Dad something over-the-top awesome for his special day (which may or may not involve you) we rounded up a list of our favorite Father's Day packages at some sweet hotels for you to take a look at.
Whether pops is into cars, relaxing, beer or sports, we've got somethin' good for him. Or, rather, something good for you to buy him.
Yo, kiddies? Father's day is this month. And if your pops is more of the cigar-lounge-and-fireplace than the Disney World vacay type, consider this pop's day gift from the Mandarin Oriental New York. Hint: cognac is involved. Yeah, dapper gentlemen only.
Way up on the 35th floor in the Lobby Lounge, MOBar or restaurant Asiate (yes, with kickass views of Central Park and the skyline), pops can enjoy an evening tasting cognac if you book him the Father’s Day Cognac Package:
The flight consists of three pours, including Delamain XO Pale and Dry, P. Frapin Vintage 1983 and Hine Vintage 1975, and will be accompanied by a selection of chocolate truffles.
How very... classy. It'll cost you, though, so be prepared to shell out $670 per night for the room and cognac tasting and if you want to join dad on his tour de alcohol, you've gotta pay $75 for an additional flight.
The packages are available all through June; call (212) 805 8800 for rezzies.
