The Hotel Packages Your Dad is Secretly Dreaming About

Over on USA Today’s Hotel Check-In blog, guest blogger John Newton culled a few fun Father’s Day hotel deals worth sharing. The column caught our eye due to how well he summed up our sentiments: “As the parent of a freelance travel writer attempting to survive the crash of American print media, my dad will have to be satisfied with Sunday brunch,” he writes. (Or, er, a well-meaning card sent cross-country.) Regardless, Newton goes on to share four options for those whose financial situations are “a little more rosy.”

Though Anantara Si Kao Resort & Spa’s four-nights-for-the-price-of-three package (just $130 a night!) in Thailand sounds pretty sweet, we must say our own dad might be getting a little, um, mature for the resort’s dive center, wind-surfing classes, and sailing charters.

Nah, if we had a bottomless bank account for spending on a Father’s Day gift, we’d opt for the “Golf & Spa” package at the Sandy Lane in Barbados, which includes anywhere from five nights and two rounds of golf to 14 nights and eight rounds of golf. We would settle towards the middle with seven nights and four rounds of golf at the Country Club for a cool 6K, breakfast and one spa treatment included. Our links-loving dad would totally feel bad about not lending us the car more growing up. After all, this is the exclusive spot where Tiger Woods got married! Talk about an endorsement.

Check out Newton’s other dream dad deals here.

Get Dad 'Manned' Up At St James's Hotel & Club

Stuck for Father’s Day gifts for a dad who likes to think of himself as a bit more intellek-shall than one who might want to receive a six pack or the latest Meat Loaf album?

May we suggest a ”traditional grooming experience” courtesy of the St James’s Hotel & Club? Book him a room (lucky mum will like you for that too) in June, July or August, and the hotel will throw in a free treatment at Truefitt & Hill, a 200-year-old barber shop just round the corner from the hotel where the royals like to go. There, they’ll have a ”traditional hot towel wet shave, haircut, shampoo and manicure”. So mother will like you even more.

The package costs £290 for the two of them. Pricey, yes; but he’ll also get to pretend he’s Samuel L Jackson. And that’s priceless.

Yo, kiddies? Father's day is this month. And if your pops is more of the cigar-lounge-and-fireplace than the Disney World vacay type, consider this pop's day gift from the Mandarin Oriental New York. Hint: cognac is involved. Yeah, dapper gentlemen only.

Way up on the 35th floor in the Lobby Lounge, MOBar or restaurant Asiate (yes, with kickass views of Central Park and the skyline), pops can enjoy an evening tasting cognac if you book him the Father’s Day Cognac Package:

The flight consists of three pours, including Delamain XO Pale and Dry, P. Frapin Vintage 1983 and Hine Vintage 1975, and will be accompanied by a selection of chocolate truffles.

How very... classy. It'll cost you, though, so be prepared to shell out $670 per night for the room and cognac tasting — and if you want to join dad on his tour de alcohol, you've gotta pay $75 for an additional flight.

The packages are available all through June; call (212) 805 8800 for rezzies.

Lure Dad to Sunset Marquis' Spa With the Promise of Post-Facial Food

Your dad may have been the dude who taught you how to be manly, but that doesn’t mean the grizzled old guy can’t enjoy a little pampering care of the Sunset Marquis this Father’s Day.

For dad’s special day (that’s Sunday, June 21st this year for all you inconsiderate kids who haven’t looked it up yet), the hotel’s restaurant, the unoriginally-named RESTAURANT (seriously), is hosting a special brunch from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm featuring seasonal ingredients “spun into flavorful dishes” courtesy of five-diamond Chef Guillaume Burlion. The buffet includes appetizers, salads, carving and omelette/pasta stations, desserts and a glass of champagne for the grand total of $55 for adults and $15 for kids, though children under 6 eat free.

Want to give your old man something to smooth out the wrinkles you put on his face during your daredevil teen years? Treat him to a special spa facial treatment any day from June 5th-31st, and the hotel will include a glass of champagne and an appetizer at RESTAURANT after the signature “Hydrate and Replenish Facial.”

Sure beats a polka-dot necktie...and we all know food is the way to a man's heart (and may just make him a little less hesitant to go for that facial).

Father's Day Packages Round-Up

June 8, 2007 at 12:33 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

Father's Day is next Sunday, June 17th, and while we will probably give Dad the standard gift of a tie and a box of golf balls, you can show him you care by planning a vacation together. Here are three Father's Day packages that we have been alerted to. As always, double check with the hotel to make sure these packages still stand at the rates quoted. You know how these things go---they are subject to availability and prices can change.

New Orleans Marriott and Renaissance Hotels: It's actually refreshing to see a hotel package in New Orleans that is not about rebuilding the city or promoting tourism. Those types of deals were good for a certain amount of time but New Orleans can't be thought of as the victim forever. Now, it's time to see what the heart and soul of the city is still about. And that's jazz and voodoo.

Five Marriott and Renaissance Hotels are playing on next month's 7/7/7 date with their Lucky Sevens boys-only trip. The package includes:

· Automatic room upgrade
· Good luck voodoo dolls
· Psychic reading
· List of area casinos to try your luck.

Lucky Sevens is available now through September 30, 2007 with a starting rate of $169 per night (based on doulbe occupancy.) Use XXBD code when calling the hotel or booking online.

MORE packages after the jump.

Father's Day Hotel Package :: The Luxe Hotel in Beverly Hills

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 360 North Rodeo Drive [map], Beverly Hills, CA, United States, 90210
May 29, 2007 at 1:51 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

The Luxe Hotel Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills has put together a one-night Father's Day package that should please both dads and gearheads.

While Rodeo Drive might seem more like an Mother-Daughter type of destination, the famed shopping street is hosting the Concours d'Elegance car show on Father's Day, June 17.

The hotel's Who's Your Daddy? package includes overnight accommodations and Big Daddy cocktails (Your choice of Beer, Big Daddy, Arnold Palmer, or Tiger Woods) and the opportunity to watch the car show from the hotel's doorstep on Rodeo Drive.

The Concours D'Elegance will be held on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm in Beverly Hills. More than 30,000 people are expected to line the sidewalks of Rodeo Drive on this special day to celebrate the automobile equivalent of Rodeo style.

This year's event will have a "Cars of California" theme, celebrating the art of California car culture and elite design and exemplifying the spirit of California. From convertibles to Woodies, more than one hundred private cars are expected to exhibit at this year's event.

The event which is actually sponsored by the hotel is free for all to attend while the hotel package starts at $239 a night for a superior room ($259 for a deluxe room). And if you can't make it June 16 or 17th, the package is available from June 14-18.

Take Dad Out to the Ball Game

[UPDATE: This package offers free valet parking at the hotel (not the game) and is now offering two hours of food and beverage at the game instead of 90 minutes.]

We normally think of the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers as a big, bad convention hotel. (You have signed up for September's Valvular Heart Disease conclave, haven't you?) But even road dogs and salarymen need some time off, which is why the Sheraton has a Father's Day package that should excite the Cubs fan--and dad--in your life.

The package includes accommodations, free valet parking at the game and a 90-minute snack bar bonanza at the Cubs-Padres game on June 16. The seats could be better than the bleachers, but then again, that's where the home run action happens. (If you're lucky enough to see two National League teams hit home runs, that is.)

You'll end up paying $400 for the whole schebang, but you can get two nights for $600. Plain old room rates for the same weekend are starting at $200 a night, so you're going to have to choke down a lot of hot dogs to get your money's worth. Then again, isn't your dad worth it?
