Everything worked out for our girl Amy at yesterday as we and she knew it would. Tablet Hotels was able to get her into a family suite at the Alchymist Grand Hotel, after her initial hotel missed its opening date.
Here's what is inside a family suite :
These two level Rooms are the ideal combination of two deluxe rooms, especially for families. The Family Rooms feature a two separated bedrooms with one queen size bed and two twin beds on the upper level.
Each bedroom has air-conditioning, LCD TV with premium channels, DVD and CD player, safe, mini-bar and high speed internet access. Family Rooms have two separate bathrooms, one with shower corner only and one with a shower, bath-tub and bidet. The size is 60 square meters or 650
square feet."
Awwww, that's the kind of happy ending we like to see!
It's hard to believe that Orlando-area hotels have gotten even more kid-friendly, but it's true.
The Loews Portofino in Orlando has just unveiled its Dr. Seuss kids' suites. The two-bedroom suites have a king bedroom for Mom and Pop and a kids' room with two twin beds and Dr. Seuss decor.
Upon entering the suite, colors and patterns are everywhere, from the vibran blue carpet that is sprinkled with a pattern of lighter blue dots to the beds, which appear to be a part of "Who-ville" with Seussian forms inspired from Horton Hears a Who Book. Buildings teeter, trees drop and machines work in impossible way.
Fortunately for parents, their bedroom is normal and free of any Dr. Seuss interior design scheme. The Loews group in Orlando has several other kids suites available. There are Jurassic Park-themed suites at the Loews Royal Pacific Resort and musical kids' suites will debut later this year at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Starting rates for kids' suites at the Loews Portofino is around $500 a night.
From the Australian bush to the Santa Barbara coast, luxury campgrounds have been bringing the comforts of a hotel to the campsite. Now, hotels are bringing the comfort of the campfire to their posh properties.
At 29 properties including Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis, and The Luxury Collection, new "Directors of Fun" (yes, that is someone's actual job title) will lead fireside storytime with s'mores and professional storytellers, stargazing nights with astronomy talks, and "Dive-In Movie" nights where guests can swim alongside a big screen that's playing family-friendly movies.
Kimpton Hotels has always been a haven for pet owners and WiFi-demanders alike but now the chain is starting to cater to kids with the launch of their KimptonKids program.
Starting this summer on June 1, Kimpton will be offering the following kid-friendly amenities at their hotels:
· Special KimptonKids welcome tote bag filled with goodies like yo-yos and bath sponges · "Guppy love," the companionship of a fishy friend, is offered at many Kimpton hotels, for families missing their pets · KimptonKid-approved guide to local attractions like parks, restaurants and toy stores · Complimentary use of in-room cribs and other child rental items, such as strollers and highchairs. · In-room child safety kits, including outlet covers, toilet latches and nightlights · Special concierge service like finding a babysitting service.
And of course, since the Kimpton bathrobes are one of their most popular amenities, KimptonKids will sport kid-size animal print robes. The program will also give kids a feedback card where they rate things from "yummy to yucky" feedback card so they can voice their opinions. Wow. We'd love to get a look at those opinion cards.
We here at HotelChatter aren't the biggest fans of kids but some of the people near and dear to our hearts actually have these little things so we think they might actually dig this service at the Horseshoe Bay Resort in Texas.
The resort has installed special kid-sized tennis courts so to make it easier on your kids to hit the ball back and forth.
Scaling down tennis to fit the needs and ability of younger children, The Andy Roddick USTA Kids' Courts were specifically designed for children up to age 10 to perfect their skills with equipment and rules for children, including tennis racquets up to 25 inches and orange low-compression tennis balls. A 36-foot court is used by children ages eight and under and the 60-foot courts are for children ages 10 and under.
Now, this doesn't mean your kids will start playing like Andy Roddick but you can dream.
According to Bookit.com and the Travel Industry Association, family spring break trips are the new travel trend.
"About 70% of households with children will travel together this year," said Laura Veglia, Vice President of Sales for BookIt.com. "From the grandchildren to the grandparents, families today are seeking hot deals on destinations that offer the right combination of activities, dining options and amenities so that every member enjoys their time together."
For that great family spring break Veglia talks about, Bookit suggests a few of the usual suspects, such as Orlando, but does showcase some genuine good ideas.
For the second year in a row, The Sheraton Grand Bahama Island is saying no to spring breakers and making it easy for families to enjoy a seasonal getaway. The resort is not accepting reservations from individuals or groups under the age of 21 for travel between February 25th and March 31st, 2008.
Not quite sure how the hotel is going to enforce this rule but we bet they will be IDing heavily at this property.
Meanwhile, families are welcome to stay here. The hotel was voted the #3 Kid-Friendly resort in the Caribbean by Child mag back in 2005 and is offering two family-friendly options.
The Sunny Savings package offers rooms for $220 a night and includes daily breakfast and complimentary access to Camp Lucaya kids club. (Use Code: SUNNY.)
The all-inclusive Reef Package is $295 a couple and includes all taxes, service charges, resort fees,"non-motorized" watersports (snorkeling, etc.) and food and drink choice at one of three on-property restaurants (Use Code: AIPKG08.)
Also this resort is connected to the Westin and there are some exchange privileges between the resorts but we don't know if that "No Spring Breakers" applies to the Westin as well.
