Forget Oktoberfest, Try OctoberBest at The Bacara Resort

While temperatures dip this time of year, Santa Barbara basks in 70-degree weather during the fall. If you want to squeeze in a little more sun time before winter hits, Bacara Resort & Spa is offering OctoberBest, a month-long deal that'll get you a room at a discount of more than $120.

Aside from the savings to your wallet, we think the "Best" part of the package is that it allows you to sleep in, since each night you pay for entitles you to 24 hours in your room. Meaning, you won't have to wake up at 8 a.m. and scramble to pack to make the noon checkout time. If you check in at 8 p.m., you don't have to check out until 8 p.m. the following day.

Ritz-Carlton Doing Fall Deals All Over Caribbean And Mexico

September 30, 2009 at 5:13 PM | by amandak | 0 Comments

The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman

Fall is the time to head to the Caribbean or Mexico if you're thinking of getting a good price for a Ritz-Carlton resort: they've gone quite made with four-for-three specials all over the region.

We're daydreaming about spending a lot more than four nights at one of these places, but if you're pushed for time and wanting to save some dollars too, then you could try four nights for the price of three at the Ritz-Carlton Cancun, with rates from $269 per night. The same deal applies at the Ritz-Carlton San Juan (from $199 a night), the Ritz-Carlton St Thomas ($279 a night) and the Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort Rose Hall in Jamaica (from $169 a night).

Doubletree Helps You Celebrate Fall, All Season Long

September 21, 2009 at 9:23 AM | by amandak | 0 Comments

The DoubleTree Hotel in Santa Monica, Calif.

We might be sad to say an official goodbye to summer, but since fall has its official opening today, we might as well celebrate. Doubletree Hotels agree with us and have got a special Fall Weekend Getaway Package going from now until December 27th.

Basically it works like this: book a weekend at a Doubletree property (that means a minimum two-night stay) and they'll put you in a Deluxe room with up to two adults and two children per room at no extra charge, you'll get the Blissful Sweet dreams experience and the main bonus is a $50 Food and Beverage credit. The only downside we see to this deal is that the Food and Beverage credit only applies to non-alcoholic drinks, which we think is a shame – a nice glass of wine to see in the fall would go down nicely.

Tick-Tock: Best Western's Themed 'Countdown to Savings' Is Back

September 14, 2009 at 3:20 PM | by Heidi Atwal | 0 Comments

Oh, the places you'll go...if only you weren't so indecisive. It's a big world we live in, so the question of whether to spend fall watching leaves turn on the East Coast or hop a plane to still-warm Mediterranean climates isn't so easily answered. There's a reason travelers still use the ol' "Spin the Globe" method when they're weighed down by too many options.

But when choices are narrowed for you and prices hit the $100 and less range, the question of "where" becomes less of a burden. Starting today, Best Western begins their "Countdown to Savings" promo. Starting today and running through Friday, September 18, BW is offering daily deals on select cities, each weekday themed around fall travel. Today lists 11 "Places to See Fall Colors," tomorrow will be a selection of "NFL Stadium Cities," Wednesday highlights Facebook fan chosen "'Bucket List' Must See Cities," Thursday is "Grab Bag" day, and Friday lists places with notable "Roadside Attractions."

Historic Hotels Offering a "Fall Back in Time" Promotion

September 22, 2008 at 1:39 PM | by travelingmcmahans | 0 Comments

We do love that extra hour every fall - though some whine and moan about it getting dark early, it's an extra hour of sleep, and earlier dark means earlier cocktail hour--what's not to like?

We have even more to be pumped about this year. Historic Hotels of America wants us to take advantage of the extra hour with their "Fall Back in Time" promotions from October 1 through November 30. These hotel deals are centered around the year that the historic hotels were founded.

We're particularly fond of the Hotel El Convento's special. Founded in 1888, this Old San Juan delight is offering bottles of wine at any of their restaurants for $18.88. And though, to be honest, we may not normally jump at a chance to visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin, we're awfully tempted to make a trip just to enjoy The Ambassador Hotel's martinis, priced at their original 1928 price of 20 cents. Not a martini drinker? Try a sidecar for 30 cents. Just be sure you don't tip like it's 1928.
