Feel Totally at East
This will be the third hotel for the business traveler brand (they bill themselves as a "business hotel with a life") with the other two East Hotels in China--one in Hong Kong and one in Beijing.
Not much has changed plans-wise since we first heard of the directions to, er, for the East. The hotel will still include 255 contemporary rooms, done with the signature orange accents of East, eight suites, and 89 residences, all designed by Miami-based Arquitectonica architects. The building is not quite ready but East helpfully had some model rooms for guests to walk through.
A year ago, we learned the excellent news that Swire Hotels' East Hotels brand would be opening in Miami. Today, we've now got a look at what the hotel will look like thanks to the South Florida Business Journal.
The 263-room hotel will open in Fall 2015 in the Brickell City Centre Project, a mixed-used development in Miami's Brickell neighborhood. Designed by Miami-based Arquitectonica, (who are also doing the Hyde Hotel in Midtown Miami), the East Miami will have two restaurants, a poolside bar and lounge, a rooftop bar, fitness center, and a banquet hall along with 89 serviced apartments known as East Residences.
Sadly, there aren't any room photos but if the hotel looks anything like the East Hotel in Hong Kong, we'll be very happy.

Yesterday we heard the news that Marriott would be importing its European-based AC Hotels by Marriott brand into the U.S. Today, we've got news of another popular international brand now making its way stateside--East Hotels.
East is actually a very small brand within theSwire Hotels portfolio with just two properties--one in Hong Kong, the other in Beijing. We didn't even know the U.S. was an option for future East Hotels but we're glad it's starting.
According to the Miami Herald, the 236-room East, Miami will open inside the mixed-use at Brickell CityCentre complex at South 8th Street and Brickell Avenue. (The property is being developed by Swire Properties, so it makes sense that a Swire Hotels affiliate would operate the hotel portion.) The East, Miami will also have 89 serviced apartments, two restaurants, meeting space and a rooftop bar. And don't forget, free WiFi.
The "business hotel with a life" will be located at Jiang Tai in the Chaoyang district of the city between the 4th and 5th Rings, putting it close to both Beijing's hot art scene, the 798 Art District, and a slew of corporations like Siemens, Panasonic, Nestle, Motorola and Nortel.
While we aren't sure exactly what the hotel will look like, there will be a lot of similarities in sensibility to the East in Hong Kong.
