Pretty pots of nail polish may not quite be what we had in mind yesterday when we asked what secrets the doormen at the The Dorchester could tell us, but anyways. These pictures make us happy so we thought we had to share.

We were privy to a tour of the new (relatively – it opened last year) spa recently, and were utterly enchanted by the manicure room.

The Dorchester Gets SATC Fever (But No Sex, Please, They're British)

Well, The Dorchester’s getting a bit racy at the moment, isn’t it? If it’s not taking over the ex Playboy Club as its latest outpost, it’s jumping on the whole Sex and the City bandwagon.

Not that the Dorchester would sell sex, of course – in fact, it’s not even mentioning the word. But it just so happens that its Girls Weekend package is available around the same time that a certain flick is being released (from May 1 to April 30 2011), and it just so happens that it’s designed for four ladies with a love of cocktails and corsages.

The Dorchester. Playboy. Not two words you’d normally associate together, but all this is about to change.

Not that the Dorchester Collection is saucing up its image – it’s merely being inclusive as it branches out. Turns out that the site for its next London hotel, 45 Park Lane, is what used to be the London outpost of the Playboy Club.

Learn How to Mix Proper Drinks at These Hotels

February 5, 2010 at 10:37 AM | by Jennifer Kester | 0 Comments

If watching Tom Cruise in Cocktail made you want to start bartending, belly up to a hotel bar for a mixology class. Okay, you'll likely be focusing on not spilling the liquor rather than tossing bottles in the air, but at least you'll finally be able to mix yourself a decent cocktail.

Find out where you can shake up some drinks after the jump.

So, Beyonce and Taylor Swift scooped up all the Grammys last night, but elsewhere in the world, another fierce competition was recently decided. We’re talking about the award for Receptionist of the Year.

This is no Office Space joke, but a very serious honor for the winner—which, this year, was Francois Lenne of Le Meurice in Paris. Lenne was granted the award at the Presidium of the International Association for Deputy Managers and Front Office Managers of Luxury Hotels, held in Madrid in January.

Little House on La Prairie at The Beverly Hills Hotel

To clarify, when we say "house" we're referring to poolside cabanas, and the prairie mentioned is luxury skin care line La Prairie. Both have a prominent place at The Beverly Hills Hotel, known as 90210's Pink Palace.

We often write about the towering, blush-toned local legend for good reason. Built in 1912, BHH has kept its reputation while that of newer, trendy Sunset Boulevard hotels has slid downhill. What's more, we always find something new to experience on repeat visits, whether dining at The Polo Lounge or browsing designer goods at the gift store.

Yesterday afternoon we decided to try out a couple of La Prairie treatments at the hotel's outdoor spa cabanas. Poor, poor us, right? Since LA is blessed with near year-round sunny weather, lying practically nude (albeit shaded from other guests) is a viable option for those that want a view of the aqua pool, palm trees, and maybe a glimpse of a celebrity visitor through a crack in the bushes. There were no sightings yesterday to speak of, but we did learn that sultry designer Tom Ford shares our soft spot for the hotel.

Lindsay Lohan Loves The Plaza Athenée But Not as Much as Herself

The Terrace Eiffel Suites at The Plaza Athenée.

Nothing Lindsay Lohan ever tweets about really makes sense, except when she's trying to promote her 6126 leggings line, her Sevin Nyne spray tan lotion and her work for the fashion house of Emanuel Ungaro and even those tweets aren't all that well-crafted. The same goes for her tweets about hotels too. The other day she tweeted:

I love Emanuel Ungaro and I miss Paris and the Plaza Athenée

This was followed by a picture link which we eagerly clicked because we thought it would be a pic of her room at the luxury hotel but alas, it was just a pic of her attempting to look seductive. Boo.

Fortunately, we still have these killer views that a tipster sent us last month that we can drool over.

The Beverly Hills Hotel To Get Newer, Posher Bungalows

We are suckers for old luxury hotels and the Beverly Hills Hotel is one of our favorites, not just because of its long history with silver screen stars or the guaranteed celeb sightings in the hotel's coffee shop but also because of the luxe bungalows that have been frequented by icons such as Marilyn Monroe (Bungalow #1), John Lennon and Yoko Ono (#9) and our personal fave, Phyllis Nefler.

The Pink Palace has 21 Bungalows in total (in addition to 200 rooms in the main building) and once you've stayed in one, you'll find it really hard to want to stay in the main building again. The bungalows feel like your own little apartment in the impressive 90210-zipcode rather than a standard hotel room. Yes, the furnishings might be a little too grand or fancy for your tastes but hello, this is Beverly Hills. And PS, the bathrooms are enormous.

What’s On The Block at the Beverly Hills Hotel?

We continue our What's On The Block: Los Angeles Edition with The Beverly Hills Hotel.

All this week, we’ve been telling you What’s On The Block at some famous hotels around Los Angeles, and today we’re going to continue our tour with the city’s great pink dowager empress, the Beverly Hills Hotel.

First the bad news: there’s nothing on the block here. That’s right, the Beverly Hills Hotel perfectly typifies Los Angeles in that you have to drive to get anywhere. Perhaps that is why it is favored by Hollywood royalty and captains of industry. Its secluded location affords unparalleled privacy from prying eyes and paparazzi alike, yet starlets can still dream of being discovered by the pool…and admit it, you’ve always wanted to reenact the sleepover scene from Troop Beverly Hills.
