Celebrating New Year's Eve as a newly single man, Russell Brand wasn't exactly his usual cheery self as he struggled to come to terms with his divorce, alone in London. The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star attempted to get as far away as possible from ex-wife Katy Perry—over 5,000 miles, to be exact—who meanwhile was partying it up at Soho House in West Hollywood.

According to The Mirror, Russell moped around The Savoy, ordering room service (meal for one), offsetting it with some time at the gym, and generally spreading his misery around the place like a bad smell. When one guest went up to him to wish him a happy New Year, Brand responded: "Here's hoping it gets happier." Or should we call him Eeyore.

The Only One Sharing A Hotel Bed With Kobe Bryant Is His Dog

The big news this weekend was the death of North Korea's "Dear Leader" Kim Jong-il. But in Kobe Bryant's world, another catastrophe was unfolding: namely, the fact that he never signed a prenup with his wife Vanessa before ending their ten-year marriage. Yikes.

Now that word is out, and the divorce papers are on their way, Kobe has chosen to forfeit his multi-million dollar Newport Coast mansion and hole out in a nearby hotel for the time being. And so far, the only guest he's entertained since checking in has been his pooch.

According to TerezOwens (basically a Perez site for sports fans), Kobe was spotted "staying in the South Villa of a resort in Newport with his dog." With any luck, the hotel might even consider employing the furry critter until the two of them get back on their paws feet.

Demi Moore Has The Most Depressing Hotel Stay Ever

It must be true. Your choice of hotel mirrors your station in life. Take for example this celebrity couple on the brink of divorce.

Ashton Kutcher most likely ended his marriage to Demi Moore with a groupie sex fling at at the Hard Rock in San Diego, a notorious party hotel. Meanwhile, Demi sought solace from the sex scandal in the loving arms of the refined Crosby Street Hotel in Soho.

Star Magazine managed to bribe get a staffer to divulge the details of Demi's stay and it's super sad.

She didn't have any visitors, including room service or maid service during her stay, a hotel insider reveals. And she was never spotted outside her room except for when she left to appear on Good Morning America and to attend the premiere of her upcoming film, Five, on September 26.

The Other Royal Couple Did Not Honeymoon Happily Ever After

There was trouble brewing in the Monegasque paradise between Prince Albert of Monaco and his bride Princess Charlene, long before they tied the knot on July 1. But you would think that they could at least try and enjoy their honeymoon in South Africa?

After all, they were staying in the presidential suite of the Oyster Box Hotel on the beach in Umhlanga Rocks. The suite alone spans two floors, with its own private elevator, two bedrooms, two marble bathrooms with views of the ocean, a study, a lounge, a dining room that seats 10 and a fully equipped kitchen. Oh and its own swimming pool.

But sadly the strain of the allegations that Prince Albert fathered yet another child out of wedlock may have forced him to seek out his own less luxurious hotel room at the Hilton in Durban, ten miles away from the Oyster Box.

Maria Shriver Seeks Refuge in the Arms of The Montage

Where there is a scandalous celebrity couple breakup, there is a luxury hotel in Los Angeles awaiting the broken-hearted with open arms and giant suites. The latest hotel to be there for that A-list someone is The Montage Beverly Hills where Maria Shriver is reportedly living while she works on divorcing the Sperminator, er, Terminator Arnold Schwarzenegger.

TMZ has the scoop saying that Maria even met with her divorce attorney at the hotel.

With rumors going around that Maria is expected get at least a $200 million divorce settlement, there's no excuse for her not to book one of the hotel's 55 residential-style luxury suites.

David Arquette Cuddles with the Cabana Host at The Fontainebleau

Given how many celebrities go wild at hotels after making divorce/separation announcements, perhaps hotels really need to ramp up their divorce packages. Once again making the gossip sites for his newly-single behavior is David Arquette who has probably never been talked about as much as he did when he was still with Courtney Cox.

This time he headed to the Fontainebleau Miami where he partied at the hotel's LIV nightclub and the brand-new Arkadia Lounge. And once again, Page Six has the details from his night out.

"He was dancing on tabletops with a trombone. He wouldn't stop playing it all night long," our spy said. Arquette was seen leaving the club with a brunette at 6 a.m. and was spotted with the same woman poolside the next day.

On Sunday, Arquette cuddled up with a cabana host at the pool which he Twitpic'd for all of us to see.

Christina Aguilera Continues Post-Divorce Hotel Hopping at the SLS

What a girl wants is apparently a good hotel. Christina Aguilera, last seen in Hawaii at the Waikiki Edition, has been coping with the recent divorce in the best way that celebs can--by hotel hopping.

Paps spotted her outside the SLS Hotel in Los Angeles with her son, Max, a couple of assistants and some luggage. She's reportedly been shacking up at the hotel while her husband sticks around their house.

Even though we think Christina would do fine in one of the hotel's superior rooms (their starting room category) with its "floating" beds and dark and sexy decor, we're guessing she probably shacked up in one of the SLS Suites--a 1,500-sq.ft room designed by Philippe Starck with a dining table for six, a separate sitting area with white tufted leather couches, two 42" inch flat screen TVs and a 17" iMac computer.

Regular rooms at SLS start around $300 a night but these suites can fetch as much as $700 a night.

Todd English Skips Out On His Wedding, Heads to W South Beach

Some folks may think celeb chef and soon to be hotelier Todd English is mighty foxy but we're not one of them. We can't really explain why but it's probably because of his eyebrows. Just had to put that out there.

Still, he was named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 2001 and he's been steadily expanding his restaurant empire. He even worked in a guest judge appearance on this season's Top Chef (Olives at The Bellagio is his restaurant.) But women might be leery of English now that he left his bride-to-be, Erica Wang, at the altar over the weekend.

Was it a case of cold feet (English has two previously failed engagements and a divorce on his relationship resume)? A mutually decided upon moment of clarity for both of the to-be-betrothed? Or call us super cynical, but the thought has crossed our mind that maybe Todd is the mystery man that knocked up a certain Top Chef host, whose managed to keep mum about the sperm donor and due date. Again, just had to put that out there.

Drama at the Gosselin House Forces Kate to Hit Up a Days Inn

Us Weekly, the only place for ridiculous amounts of "Jon + Kate Plus 8" news, reports that Jon and Kate Gosselin got into a heated fight at their home in Wernersville, Penn. and cops were even called to the house.

Kate arrived at the home (it was reportedly ex Jon's time to be with the kids) because she did not approve of the baby-sitter. Photographers on site claimed Kate was "locked out" of her house. No arrests were made, but she spent some time arguing with Jon at the fence of their home. Later, she fled in tears to a nearby Days Inn.

Man, that's gotta be bad if you'd rather leave your $1.1 million home and spend the night at a Days Inn. Someone send Kate on a Celebrate Your Divorce quick! And just in case you're curious, Kate checked into the Days Inn in Reading which is about six miles from their house. Rooms start at $78.20 a night for a king bed and you get free WiFi, free use of Gold's Gym nearby and free continental breakfast.
