It's nearly the moment you Disney freaks, er, enthusiasts have been waiting for--The Four Seasons Orlando at Disney World is opening on Sunday!

Room rates at the luxury hotel at the Magic Kingdom start at $449 a night for a Four Seasons Room. A lake view room starts at $579 a night. We'll be watching the early word on social media on Sunday, but if you're staying at the hotel, let us know how it's going!

In the meantime, we've rounded up all the cool things to admire at this hotel. And not one of them includes Mickey Mouse ears!

1. The Adult Pool: The adult pool (separated from the family pool) will have cabanas, cocktail servers and specialty services like "sunglass cleanings." We hope massages are on that list too. #serenitynow

2. Firework Chandeliers in the Lobby. Night time is ruled by fireworks at Disney World but we're loving the cool chandeliers of "fireworks" above the lobby's grand staircase.

3. A Golf Course. The hotel's golf course will be actually be Tom Fazio’s Osprey Ridge golf course which is undergoing a renovation and will open in September 2014. It will still be a certified Audubon Cooperative Wildlife Sanctuary and it will be just a two-minute golf cart ride from the hotel.

The Four Seasons is not the only new resort set to open at Walt Disney World in Orlando this summer. The B Resort is also gearing for an opening and with way more affordable rates.

The B resort has also just announced their restaurant concept, American Q, which is being developed by restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow and China Grill Management. The restaurant, as you might guess from its name, will do a "a modern take on classic barbecue" dishes from all different regions in the U.S. and Latin America. But this being Disney World, the restaurant will embrace the BBQ theme wholeheartedly. Here's what's in store:

· An “industrial farmhouse” setting with a wood-clad bar and a mason jar chandelier.
· An “all-you-can-eat” parade of BBQ meats, seafood and poultry
· "Cowboy/cowgirl” carvers
· An appetizer and salad buffet served from the bed of a ’50 cherry red Ford F1 pickup truck
· Spontaneous line dances

Ok, NOW you're talking.

Disney World can be a life-altering experience for every wide-eyed kid who steps in to Magic Kingdom. But there are plenty of big kids (adults) also in need of mind-blowing entertainment and decadent amenities.

When The Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort finally opens its doors on August 3, it is sure to impress frequent Disney-goers but it will also reset the luxury hotel standard in Orlando, with its over the top accommodations and amenities. We've already told you 5 reasons why you should get excited about this new hotel but here are a few other amenities you ought to know about as well.

Easy Access
Complimentary transportation is provided from the resort to Disney's main theme parks. The best way to beat the crowds at Mickey’s house is to start off by avoiding them. The easy entrance via an air-conditioned town car is a great kick-off to a day of Disney.

The B Resort in Orlando to Open This Summer with Special Rate of $159 a Night

While we're crazy excited for the Four Seasons Resort at Disney World to open this summer, we're having a tough time swallowing the $645 opening rate. Fortunately, there's a new and more affordable alternative opening this summer as well--The B Resort.

Much like its sister property in Fort Lauderdale, the B will offer stylish and playful guest rooms (with free WiFi!) along with several B Signature services like B Active (fitness center), B Nourished (dining concepts including one by Jeffrey Chodorow) and B Adventurous (excursions outside the hotel.) This resort will also have the very first B full-service spa called B Indulged. Rounding out the services and amenities are a zero-entry saltwater pool, a kids zone, an ice cream shop and courtesy loaner iPads.

The hotel will open its doors on June 1 with a special introductory offer of $159 a night for a chic room which are located near the pool area with a king or two queen beds. There is a $20 resort fee plus tax but the introductory offer is including that as well as self-parking. Blackout dates do apply and reservations are nonrefundable and final. But still, that saves you nearly $500 a night compared to the Four Seasons.

The Four Seasons Orlando at Disney World Will Open on August 3 at $645 a Night

Just after we released out Master List of Worldwide Hotel Openings, we received an actual opening date for the hotly anticipated Four Seasons Orlando at Disney World.

Starting on August 3, two adults and two children can spend the night in a Golden Oak View room for *just* $645 a night. You also have the option of choosing one king bed or two double beds. There's also a queen-size sofa bed in the room and a crib can be placed in the room as well.

Lake and park view rooms cost a little bit more at $695 and $795 a night, respectively. If 500-sq.ft. isn't enough space, the Golden Oak suite can be booked for $1,050 a night which has a separate sitting area. (Most rooms, if not all, have their own furnished balconies from which you can gaze out at the Disney World and other parks.)

That price might sound a little steep for a family vacay but the hotel is running a "Stay Longer" offer which will give you a third night free if you book two consecutive nights. While we're not quite ready to brave Orlando in the August heat, that's quite a tempting offer for a new Four Seasons in Disney World.

Disney's Magic Bands Also Serve as Hotel Keys (Could Other Hotels Do This Too?)

January 6, 2014 at 11:04 AM | by | Comment (1)

Over the summer, it came out that Disney World would be testing some new technology called Magic Bands. The electronic bracelets would essentially serve as park tickets, so you won't have to scramble in your purse, wallet or pocket for your tickets.

But the bands do a lot more than letting you into the park. If you're staying at one of the Disney Resorts you can use these bands as your hotel room key. Here's how one of the reviewers on the forum MouseChat described the process:

It is your room key. So you tap and open the door. You have to touch the mickey icon on your door precisely. So Mickey to Mickey to get the door to unlock. Same thing to get to a concierge floor with the elevator, just touch the Mickey on the elevator and the Concierge level floor button will light up. The only thing is, it can be tricky getting the band to line up exactly and we found ourselves contorting our wrists to get the door to open or the elevator to light up.

Happy Holidays! We're leaving you with one last story to admire read before we head out for the next few days. We'll be off tomorrow and Christmas but we'll back with a full slate of stories on Thursday. Remember, if you're waking up in a hotel on Christmas, we wanna hear about it!

Heading to Disney World for the holidays is a dream for many folks--young and old. But if you're staying at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin resorts, your vacation just got a whole lot sweeter.

Laurent Branlard, the hotel's executive pastry chef, constructed a 7-foot tall, 400-pound nutcracker made entirely from chocolate along with an entire Christmas scene made up of another 2,000 pounds of chocolate that includes a life-sized Santa Claus (something the resort is well-known for.)

The scene and nutcracker took 80 hours to complete and both will be on display through December. Best of all, it's entirely edible. However, if you were to consume it all you would be taking in about 4 million calories. On second thought….

The hotel is still open on for Christmas Eve and Day. In fact, they have an entire website up and running for the holidays: www.santasfavoriteresort.com . Rates at the hotel, which is part of Starwood Hotels start at $209 a night.

Ok, so technically, Mickey didn’t make an appearance in this video of the under-construction Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World, but we would have appreciated the reference (if slightly on-the-nose) had the iconic character popped up.

Rather, it is Thomas Steinhauer, Regional Vice President and General Manager of the hotel, who dons his hard hat and walks you through the 434-room resort – the largest Four Seasons resort in the world – as it progresses towards a summer 2014 opening.

B Hotels To B Open in Disney World By Early Next Year

October 9, 2013 at 4:37 PM | by | Comments (0)

We already knew that B Hotels had their eye on a Disney World property and now we've got some more details, including a possible opening date.

The B Hotel will open out of the old Royal Plaza Hotel which was a part of the Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels and was an Official Walt Disney World Hotel. (The B Disney World will remain a part of the Downtown Disney resorts when it reopens.)

The B will feature 394 "completely redesigned" guestrooms (20 of these will be family-friendly rooms with bunk beds) and brand-new public spaces. The B will also feature a BBQ restaurant concept in partnership with Jeffrey Chodorow of China Grill Management as well as the brand's first full-service B Indulged® spa.

A Year Away, Four Seasons Disney Has Its First Opening Rates

Go To The Hotel's Web

Well, color us surprised. Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World might still be a year away from opening, but hot on the heels of its GM appointment, the apparent interest in the 434-room resort is already so significant that a first series of rates for meetings and groups has been released. Talk about planning ahead.

We’ll get to those rates in a second, but alongside there’s an indication what us normal people will be paying to live it up with Mickey. Unfortunately, the same seems to hold true here as it does for Disney itself these days: bring your wallet. Rooms will start at $595 in September 2014, going up to $645 from October onwards. Family packages aside, with a room and one-day admission for four, you’re looking at a grand a day just like that. Eeeek.

Hotels Take Note: This Holiday Inn Resort Now Has a Mobile Tiki Bar

One sure-fire way to get our attention? Post a picture of your new mobile tiki bar.

That's how Holiday Inn Club Vacations snapped us out of our post-holiday weekend haze this morning. This life-changing contraption, called The Tiki Express, is available at the Orange Lake Resort Hotel in Orlando, next door to Disney World. It motors around the 1,450-acre resort serving up adult and kid-friendly cocktails, smoothies and other tasty concoctions.

Apparently, the hotel is testing the Tiki Express on a "seasonal" basis but we're convinced this is a home-run and we think other hotels in hot weather locales should consider it too.
