Diane von Furstenberg to Design Rooms at Claridge's

Site Where: Brook Street Mayfair, London, United Kingdom, W1A 2JQ

Diane von Furstenberg's iconic wrap dress is universally pleasing: it's comfortable, it looks good on every woman (or so they say; we're inclined to agree), the design is timeless and the possibilities, with so many accessories and patterns and colors to play with, are endless. And so it should come as no surprise to any of us that a designer known to excel at sensible flexibility, comfort and universally-pleasing aesthetics was tapped to design a few hotel rooms.

In an interview with Florida's Centre Daily Times, the fashion queen, in discussing her recent endeavors, just casually dropped that she happens to be dabbling in interior design. She says she'll be designing "just a few rooms at [her] favorite hotel, Claridge's in London." While she goes into no further detail about her ideas for her rooms at that the luxe London hotel, we're psyched to see what she comes up with. Wrap dresses in the closets? Terrycloth wrap dresses instead of robes, even? Yes please.

W Hotels' 2009 Calendar is For the Fashionistas

December 15, 2008 at 4:59 PM | by JetSetCD | 0 Comments

Just in case you haven't had enough of W Hotels and their fashion focus, they've teamed up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) for a 2009 calendar to remind you that they roll with the big guns of style.

The sketchbook-like calendar seeks to inspire with quotes and images from designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Rafe, Charles Nolan and Rag & Bone. In a philanthropic nod, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the CFDA Foundation, which raises funds on behalf of the American fashion industry’s designers for efforts like Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC).

If $15 seems a bit steep for what is essentially 12 pieces of W-branded paper, use the 25% off discount code (MX4H2) valid through the 18th, which is good throughout the entire site and features free shipping. Other tantalizing new arrivals to the W Shop include Alessi fly-swatters, Hayden-Harnett wallets, and cashmere dip-dye gloves in W Hotels' signature purple. A hint to any luxe secret santas stuck for gifts this season: the $4,500 limited-edition Veuve Clicquot Globalight designed by Karim Rashid is still available in their shop.

Diane von Furstenberg's New Collection is Hotel-Inspired

Where: Florence, Italy
June 26, 2008 at 1:15 PM | by JetSetCD | 0 Comments

Going old school with a runway show in Florence last week for her Resort 2009 Collection, the foundress of the wrap dress Diane von Furstenberg flashed the retro card with outfits based on her own hotel travels.

Entitled "La Petite Valise," the collection's focus on dressing for the destination comes through with primary Riviera stripes and zigzags, bathing beauty swimsuits that scream "lounging on the lido," and a dress with the pattern of DvF's own passport pages.

Even though the entire show referenced the days of the grand tour, Furstenberg deemed a portion of it "the Hotel Life," flashing outfits of Wedgwood blue and a hotel key pattern directly influenced by the style of The Claridge's Hotel in London.
