If you're interested in visiting the Pacific Northwest for something more decidedly adult than a Twilight Teen Tour, consider the Quinault Quintessentials, culinary weekend being held at the Lake Quinault Lodge in Washington.
Who needs to explore the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest when you can spend all weekend learning to cook its specialties from the lodge’s executive chef, Patrick Norris?
From Friday-Sunday, March 20-22, guests can spend the weekend sampling Norris’s food, beginning with a selection of local wines, fruits and cheeses on Friday evening. Package guests will then be invited to several intimate cooking demonstrations from Chef Norris, as well as a four-course dinner on Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday.

After all the recent slipping and sliding on Wall Street, our 401K plans aren't looking too healthy. But the good news is that what's left can be spent on the Ritz-Carlton Cancun's weekend of "Cooking and Conversation Classes" with food writer and chef Mark Bittman.
The one-time-only event will be held from Nov. 13 to 16 and is limited to 16 guests. But for a mere $5,800 per couple, you too can shop at local fish and produce markets alongside Bittman, who then schools participants at the hotel's Culinary Center on how to turn the ingredients into a meal, which is enjoyed by Bittman and the group along with a selection of Mexican wines.
To fill its rooms in the pre-ski-season months, The Pines Lodge in Beaver Creek, Colorado, is offering weekend culinary retreats. The "Live to Eat!" weekends include nutrition and cooking instruction as well as yoga classes.
Folks from the nearby Eat! Drink! cheese shop/gourmet market/wine bar in Edwards, Colorado will come teach the classes. The September packages also include Sunday brunch for two people at local restaurant, Dish, and a welcome basket filled with what we consider the trifecta of pleasures -- wine, cheese, and chocolate. Um, yes please.
Rates start at $285 per person based on double occupancy. The Pines Lodge has 60 guest rooms and a few condos and townhouses. Amenities include a heated outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, gym, spa, restaurant, and, drum roll...free WiFi.
