The Concierge at Mr. C Does More Than Just Texting, Way More
Last week, we featured the concierge from the Mr. C Hotel in Los Angeles because we loved how he was texting with hotel guests. Venicio "Choy" Flores tells us that being available by text is just one of the many ways he's able to serve guests, even when he's technically off the clock:
They can call me anytime they need anything. I have gotten calls at 2am after work or on my day off and I and my colleagues have taken care of their questions or requests. So we at Mr C are truly 24 hours. We don't stop just because our shift ends.
And should you ever want a plane to Las Vegas at the last-minute, Choy could probably make that happen because he's done it before. Here he tells us the story of his craziest request and what he charged for it. (Hint: You can afford it!)

Best Video of 2011: The Designated Room Number Rememberers at Andaz Wall Street

It's what you've been waiting all year for--The 2011 HotelChatter Awards! We'll be bringing you the best and worst of the year all day today and part of tomorrow. Agree or disagree with our picks? Air your thoughts in the comments below.
This year, we tried something a little different with our video tours, opting for more face time with hotel concierges and other staff members—in addition to the usual room inspections, bathroom tours, and otherwise. And we guess you could say we had some fun along the way...
Possibly the most entertaining of the interviews was with Assistant Front of House Manager at Andaz Wall Street, Michael Stevens. Michael opened up to us about a "lively" wedding group that had passed through earlier that weekend, and who took up 50 rooms, then got so drunk they all forgot their room numbers! But as nightmarish as it sounds, Michael's team apparently handled the situation with tact and aplomb—and lived to tell about it the following day.

Aside From The Protests, Wall Street Still Has Plenty To Offer
After everything we've been reading about Occupy Wall Street, we thought it might be good to hear from someone who actually lives or works there. And who better than Toni Hinterstoisser, GM of Andaz Wall Street—the only hotel actually located on Wall Street. Toni's been with the hotel since its opening in 2010, and is something of an expert on the hot button 'hood.
So, without further ado...

Pillow Talking With Affinia's New Chief Comfort Officer

Affinia Hotels is still on track to be the hotel leader of all things cute (here's a refresher: cupcakes, toys, and flower-painted walls). Yesterday, the group launched its newest customer service initiative, the Tender Loving Comfort Movement (that's TLC to you), which uses behavioral science to anticipate exactly how guests want to be treated, and what treats to treat them with.
The brand's new Chief Comfort Officer (that's CCO to you!), Christina Denihan, was on hand last night to show off the new "comfort cart," which is available starting today in all the Affinia hotels during a trial period, in which guests can try any of its amenities for free. We chatted with Denihan about her history with the hotel, the idea behind the TLC movement, and what her favorite pillow is.
How long have you worked for the hotel?
I've been working for the company for five years. I've done every position at the hotel—housekeeping, concierge, front desk—so I know the people really well. In order to ignite the TLC movement, it's important that I know all the associates, because they're the people that are going to make this work. They're the ones who know our customers most, they're here every day.
