College Football Hotel :: The Heldrich for Grown-Up Rutgers Fans

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 10 Livingston Avenue [map], New Brunswick, NJ, United States, 08901

Once you graduate college, the problem with going to your alma mater's football games is that you're not in college anymore. You start tailgating at 9 a.m. instead of 11; you opt for the seats filled with families because the bleachers are filled with those "rowdy kids;" and your buddy's floor--or more likely, his futon--no longer counts as a bed.

Thankfully, there's something around campus that you probably never noticed during your four (in some cases six) years at college: a nice hotel!

At Rutgers University in Downtown New Brunswick, NJ, that hotel is The Heldrich. A friend of ours recently stayed there and found the rooms to be "contemporary yet cozy," though oddly lacking flat-screen TVs and iPod-ready alarm clocks. "It's like the design, furniture and upholstery were well-thought out, but they skimped on technology," she told us.

That's OK, because you can instead relax in the spa (did someone say seaweed wrap?), or hang out at the hotel bar, which hosts live jazz. (Surely there's someone there who will debate the cultural relevance of Art Tatum with you.)

So when you go to a football game of your alma mater this year, treat yourself to some class, because you've come a long way from drunkenly screeching "Livin' on a Prayer" at the divey tavern up the street.

(Just in case you're still on a college student's budget, you're in luck: rates start at $110 per night.)

USC Trojan Fans Now Can Rest in Comfort at the Renaissance

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 9620 Airport Boulevard [map], Los Angeles, CA, United States, 90045

This weekend, when USC faces off rival Ohio State University, will you be watching from your couch or the stands? We know you true fans (aka those of you who can cough up $700 for tickets) are descending on LA for the big game Saturday and the Renaissance Montura Hotel wants you to stay with them.

They're bragging the new LA-themed rooms, and architecture "inspired by LA's eclectic spirit," and proximity to LAX. We think a true football hotel should maybe sponsor a party bus to the game, or a tailgate BBQ by the pool to really get the fans in the game spirit, otherwise this sounds just like another airport hotel. Still, it might be better than the Radisson on Figueroa.

As an airport hotel, though, it's been heralded on TripAdvisor. You can't hear the planes and the location is very central. We believe it's a great stay, just maybe not something football great. If you're going to stay here this weekend, we recommend staying in a Club-level room. That way you can turn the Club Lounge into game party central.

Rates start at $95 for a deluxe room with the rejuveNATION rates.

College Football Hotel Map: Where to Stay Near UF

The college football season is in full swing, so we here at HotelChatter are doing our best to help you fans support your alma mater in the best way we know how, with our College Football Hotel Map, a guide of where to stay when you attend the games.

We conclude our first batch of College Football hotels with the University of Florida, currently holding the #3 spot on the AP's Top 25 College Football rankings. While we love Gatorade, we're not so we are keen on Gainesville (hello, Gainesville murders of 1990).

We're also getting pretty sick of writing about Hampton Inns, Days Inns, Comfort Suites and the likes. Instead, we're picking one hotel close to campus and the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (aka The Swamp) and then looking further outside. Do you really want to waste your trip to Florida in a budget motel? We don't.

College Football Hotel Map: Where to Stay Near LSU

Fans of Louisana State University's Tigers are die-hard and they are probably pretty psyched that so far their team is ranked #2, according to the AP's Top 25 College Football rankings.

However, fans might not be so psyched about the accommodations options here in Baton Rouge. Everything seemed to be very so-so. Actually, it's all pretty horrible. You would probably be better off staying somewhere in New Orleans. Then again if you like to party hard at Tiger Stadium aka Death Valley, you probably don't give a crap about where you end up later that night. Still, we picked three places that should probably suffice.

College Football Hotel Map: Where to Stay Near OSU

Ohio State University is still holding steady this season in the #8 according to the AP's Top 25 College Football rankings. And the OSU football scene is pretty big in Columbus, Ohio. But if you lived in ho-hum Ohio you would make football a big thing too.

Nevertheless, we were pleasantly surprised to find that near OSU you can stay at places like Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn, etc. for a cheap price without seeing bedbugs, mold in the bathrooms or dirty sheets. It seems almost all these places are clean and worth it. Goooo Team!

College Football Hotel Map: Where to Stay Near UT Austin

The college football season is in full swing, so we here at HotelChatter are doing our best to help you fans support your alma mater in the best way we know how, with our College Football Hotel Map, a guide of where to stay when you attend the games.

The next school on our list is the University of Texas, Austin whose team is currently ranked #7 according to the AP's Top 25 College Football rankings.  Austin is pretty much known for two things---being the live music capital of the world and for Longhorns football. Everybody all together now: "Hook 'Em Horns."

So there are plenty of hotel options in this city but to be honest, none of them really stand out and that's mostly because guests frequently complain of parties, loud music and dirty rooms. Perhaps Austin is the victim of too many concert festivals and football tailgating parties. Nevertheless, we got our cleanest picks after the jump.

College Football Hotel Map: Where To Stay Near USC

The college football season is in full swing, so we here at HotelChatter are doing our best to help you fans support your alma mater in the best way we know how, with our College Football Hotel Map, a guide of where to stay when you attend the games.

First up, is the University of Southern California. Why? Because USC is the greatest football team ever having pumped out legends like Frank Gifford, OJ Simpson, Ronnie Lott, Marcus Allen and today's stars like Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, and Carson Palmer. Ok, so we might have a slight bias here but the team is also #1 in the AP's Top 25 College Football rankings which is what we are using to cover the top teams.

Find out where to stay after the jump.
