Hotel Screening Rooms / Los Angeles Hotels / West Hollywood Hotels / Luxury Hotels / Celebrity Scoop / → All Tags
Since its opening in 2008, The London West Hollywood has always been a hot hotel in Los Angeles for celebrities such as Kevin Spacey, David Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow and chef Gordon Ramsay, who has a restaurant there (Sorry, Amanda Bynes.)
But with the opening of The London's new Screening Room, celebs won't have to go far to promote their movie as the press junket will be just an elevator ride away.
The sophisticated 110-seat screening room is located off the main lobby, across from Gordon Ramsay. Designed by Gonzalez Architects with interiors by Richmond Design, it's the largest screening room for a hotel in Los Angeles. And as Hollywood rides out the rest of the 2015 awards season, the room will be in hot demand.
But unlike a lot of things in Los Angeles, there's actually something beneath the pretty surface of this room.

Forget Christmas and New Year's. Right now is the most wonderful time of the year for the Beverly Hilton.
If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of hosts Amy Poehler and Tina Fey or your favorite TV and movie stars, alas, rooms at the hotel are sold-out. Being able to watch the red carpet arrivals is also a lost cause this late in the game.
But should you want to know what the celebs are eating inside while you're stalking them outside, InStyle has the scoop on the menu and not surprisingly, it includes a "modern Waldorf salad." Wonder if it will be accompanied by advertisements for the upcoming Waldorf Astoria Beverly Hills that's being built next to the Hilton?

Pop singer and royal wedding entertainer, Ellie Goulding, recently wrapped up a stay at the new Miami Beach Edition and like most jet setting travelers, took to Instagram to show off a snapshot. But while she definitely enjoyed herself, she had a burning question--what is that smell in the lobby?
When we were there in November, we didn't really smell anything in particular, except maybe the goodness wafting out of Jean-Georges Vongerichten's Market. However, we do know that Edition carries custom-created, faintly masculine scented Le Labo toiletries in their guest rooms. So perhaps it was a variation of that? Eh, we still think it was coming from the Market. That place is gooood.

It's that time of year again: the 2014 HotelChatter Awards! Today and tomorrow, we'll be showcasing the best (and worst) of hotels over the past year. But we couldn't do it without you! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or shoot us an email. And the Award goes to...
This was almost a tricky one. We were swayed by Snoop Dogg’s sweet behavior at a random Holiday Inn Express in Devon, and intrigued by Kate Middleton’s inroads into the hotel scene, first snubbing the Dorchester boycott to attend a party, and then wowing NYC with her stay at the Carlyle.

Made in Manhattan Kate in Manhattan Middleton in Manhattan! If you’ve read any serious newspaper today, you’ll know that Kate and Wills, occasionally known as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, touched down in New York yesterday for a two-night stay - the first time either of them have been to the Big Apple. A historic occasion, then. Which lucky hotel did they pick to bestow their charms and future booking increase on?
The royals – or this couple, anyway – have history with the Carlyle. Princess Diana stayed there twice – first in 1995, and then in 1997, just two months before she died. This time around, a 200-strong crowd was waiting for five-months-pregnant Kate and William.
In case you missed it, the queen of everything, Beyonce, dropped a new music video for her song, 7/11, over the weekend. And it is, as usual, flawless. But also, a bit goofy. Can we borrow your foot phone, B?
The video features Beyonce and her back-up dancers extremely turnt up in their hotel suite, in the hotel hallways, the hotel bathroom and out on the hotel balcony. Have you ever danced like no one was watching in your hotel room? You have, you know you have. Well, imagine if you are Beyonce and you're blessed with fierce dance skills, gorgeous hair, a tight bod and tons of money. Then you will probably look like this.
Us being hotel nerds clearly identified with this video but also, we wondered where was this video filmed?
It looks to us like Hollywood when Beyonce was outside on the balcony but we were mystified by the interiors. That shot looks like a Westin but the hallways and lobby shots look very different too. It's very possible that she filmed the video in different locations, and not all of them are actually hotels. So we'll have to werk to piece it together.
Joanna Lumley's Covent Garden
Covent Garden is one of the most maligned areas of London. Everyone thinks they know it ("yeah totes it's that square with street performers and a semi-open market and touristy restaurants all around"). Tourists think they’ve ticked it off their list, most locals avoid it like the plague, unless they have to visit the Apple Store. Covent Garden: DONE.
No, says local hotel One Aldwych. You haven’t ‘done’ Covent Garden, and you aren’t done with it. What fools you are, to not even scratch the surface of this magical neighborhood.
To prove its case, the hotel has interviewed notable locals, asking why they love Covent Garden and getting tips on where to go. Some are integral parts of the community, like retro candy shop owners Kitty Hope and Mark Greenwood, and ballet dancers Ricardo Cervera and Romany Pajdak. Others are full on celebrities: Joanna Lumley and Dame Sarah Storey, one of Team GB’s Paralympic champions. Since Covent Garden has always been artistic, you’ll also find Caroline Rush, Chief Executive of the British Fashion Council and Julian Bird of the Society of London Theatre.
Celebrity Scoop / Guy Fieri / Scottsdale Hotels / Arizona Hotels / Hotel Chefs / Hotel Events / → All Tags
Guy Fieri, the bleached-up Food Network chef and host of "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives", is killing it at his Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen & Bar at The Linq Hotel in Las Vegas. Seriously. We walked in on a random Tuesday morning and it was nearly full (the restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.)
This was surprising, "fo' sho'," since Guy's New York restaurant didn't fare so well, at least not with the critics. But foodies and culinary snobs aside, Guy has a huge following. And if you're one of his fans, then you'll want to get a ticket to his interactive dinner at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain resort in Scottsdale on December 19.
Celebrity Scoop / Karl Lagerfeld / Soho Hotels / Fashion Hotels / Diva Hotel Demands / Hotel News / → All Tags
Way, way, way back before Kanye West turned into one-half of Kimye, he once semi-permanently lived at Soho's ultra cool Mercer Hotel. He then later hooked up The Mercer star with tickets to his concert. An employee even wrote in to tell HotelChatter just how nice Kanye was to them.
We wonder if Uncle Karl will be just as nice.
Page Six reports that fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld has taken over three floors of the hotel while he's in town to celebrate his item for Louis Vuitton--a $175,00 punching bag emblazoned with LVs. Hmmm...we also can't help but wonder if he's looking to The Mercer for ideas for his next hotel project?
While regular guests were apparently turned away because of Lagerfeld's presence, the good news is he won't be in town forever. Rooms are still sold-out at the hotel but they will open back up on Thursday...for $750 a night, before tax.

How do you know when not to stay at a hotel? Check out the celebrity guestlist. And if you’ve got Kerry Katona, Danielle O’Hara and one of the Black Eyed Peas, you have your answer.
The hotel is a five star, all inclusive resort, with 1251 “units” (rooms, apartments and villas). According to the Daily Mail, there’s an acre of pool-age, a fitness center and spa, five restaurants and – the telling bit if you’re wondering who they’re going for – 14 bars. By the looks of the photos, they also have (or had, for the opening party), staff dressed as mermaids and Jack Sparrow.
When Amanda Bynes was placed under psychiatric care last summer after some outrageous incidents in NYC and LA, we thought, "Good. The girl is going to get the help she desperately needs." We also made a mental note that her best celebrity performance in hotels would be just a one-off win. We were wrong.
escaped was recently released from a second stint in a psychiatric hospital the other day and immediately took to the streets of Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. That adventure alone signals she is still not well.
TMZ reported that Amanda was looking to find a place to stay in one of the hotels that line Sunset but was turned away. So she settled for chowing down at Mel's Diner, where a waitress promptly
asked for money first then told TMZ everything Amanda ate and what she said.
Now, today TMZ reveals it was The London West Hollywood where Amanda was turned away. But she didn't take the diss lightly.
Sources tell [TMZ] Bynes attempted to snag a room at the London hotel as she meandered the streets on the Sunset Strip Thursday, but when she got there she was turned away. Amanda has stayed there before and caused big problems.
[TMZ was] told Amanda became angry, grabbed a giant wad of cash, and tossed the bills into the air in the direction of the front desk.
Despite how badly we feel for Amanda, we completely agree with the hotel on this blacklisting.
Photographer Mary McCartney (yes, as in that McCartney) has photographed Liu arriving at her favorite MO hotel Mandarin Oriental New York. Liu was actually born in NYC and says she loves the hotel's proximity to Central Park, along with their "delicious and comforting" Chinese breakfast. We assume that's the Mandarin Oriental breakfast served at the Asiate restaurant (for $36) and through room service and which includes "Soy Chicken Rice Congee, Poached Egg, Chicken Shu Mai Roasted Pork Steamed BunGinger, Cilantro, Pickled Mustard Greens with a Choice of La Colombe Coffee or Tealeaves Green Teas."
Hopefully, being a fan of the MONY means Liu will now have the $1,000 room rate waived.
Liu joins 27 other existing fans of Mandarin Oriental including Freeman, Cecilia Bartoli, Caterina Murino, Sir Peter Blake, Lin Chiling, Karen Mok, Kevin Spacey, Christian Louboutin, Sophie Marceau, IM Pei, Michelle Yeoh, Jane Seymour, Kenzo Takada, Jerry Hall, Vanessa Mae, Vivienne Tam, Barry Humphries, Frederick Forsyth, Darcey Bussell, Bryan Ferry, Liam Neeson, Dame Helen Mirren, Maggie Cheung, Sigourney Weaver, Sir David Tang, Hélène Grimaud and Sa Ding Ding.
