She's so fancy, but you already know...
After last year's
disastrous cutting edge punk party, the Costume Institute Met Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, co-chaired by Vogue's Anna Wintour, took on a more refined air this year with the "White Tie and Decorations" theme. Celebs and models alike came to the event dressed in the best of the best couture but probably left a little lighter in the pockets as tickets start at $25,000.
Before hitting the red carpet, the pretty faces and bold names strutted their stuff outside The Mark Hotel, the traditional pre-Met Gala party spot. Here's a look at what Anna, Posh and Becks, Bradley Cooper (another co-chair!) and our girl crush Lupita Nyong'o were wearing last night.
Bradley Cooper goes literal with the "White tie" theme.
Posh and Becks keep it, well, Posh and Becks style.
We heart everything about this picture. She can do no wrong.
While the tickets to the Met are out of your price range, the rooms at The Mark are "only" $695 a night for a superior queen room.

According to the Miami Herald's gossip columnist, Lesley Abravanel, Prince Harry, fresh off a break-up, and his buddies were at the LIV nightclub at The Fontainebleau Resort in Miami Beach last night. Abravanel writes:
Harry kept his plaid shirt on and danced in the comforts of his own skybox. As for pictures of this controlled debauchery, no such luck. Neither pictures nor DJ shout outs were allowed as "per his security detail." Staffers were sworn to secrecy or else it was off with their heads--and their jobs. "I wouldn't have known he was there if it wasn't for you," said one LIV employee.
What we want to know is, did Harry spend the night?? We're guessing probably not because this is Miami and there are many mansions for a Prince to
playhide the ginger sausage in.
But what's also interesting is that Abravanel reports Harry is on his way to Memphis for the wedding of his friend Guy Pelly to Elizabeth Wilson, granddaughter of the founder of Holiday Inn chain of motels and hotels, Kemmons Wilson.
Of course, there are several Holiday Inns in Memphis but even though Prince Harry has stayed in a Courtyard by Marriott before, we hope the Wilson family has something more luxurious in mind for him.
We don't want to quit you!
It looks like The Dorchester Collection has a very serious problem on their hands.
Last week, when the fashion world told people to boycott the hotel group because of their association with the government of Brunei, which will now stone people to death for being homosexual, Ellen DeGeneres also publicly tweeted that she too, will be boycotting both the Hotel Bel-Air and The Beverly Hills Hotel.
We've actually seen Ellen at the Beverly Hills Hotel, aka The Pink Palace, where her and wife Portia dined downstairs in the Fountain Coffee Shop, a popular spot for not just celebs but locals too. The hotel collection is clearly caught between a rock and hard place (no pun intended) as they continue to be open to all guests and have indeed said as much in a public statement last week:
Dorchester Collection’s Code, endorsed by the company’s ownership, emphasizes equality, respect and integrity in all areas of our operation, and strongly values people and cultural diversity amongst our guests and employees.”
Yet it doesn't sound like there's much more they can do without biting the hand that feeds them. It's sad because we pretty much love all the Dorchester Collection Hotels. At least to visit for lunch or drinks as we couldn't regularly afford the pricey hotel rooms anyways. So our problem is solved. But rich people with a conscious may have to wait a while.
What do you think--should guests boycott a hotel based on what the hotel owner says or does (see also: Donald Sterling or should guests put that aside and enjoy the hotel experience for what it is? Sound off in comments below!

Spring Break is in full effect and we sincerely hope you're reading this from your tablet poolside with a margarita or pina colada in hand. If not, well, don't worry, you're not alone. We're right here with you.
But you can daydream about where to go for next year, starting with these two celebrity retreats in Mexico.
Eva Longoria spent her break with close friends at the Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, located in between the beach and the jungle of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Word is the star and her friends have been making good use of the resort's Hamara Spa as well as relaxing on the beach. Longoria also had a special dinner celebration in honor of her birthday last month, complete with fireworks. Cheers!
The resort is currently in the middle of a 48 hour sale for travel through December 23, starting at $179 a room. All-inclusive options are available too. Sorry, the fireworks are extra.
Celebrity Scoop / Justin Bieber / Mandarin Oriental Hotels / Miami Hotels / Miami Hotel Mambo / → All Tags
Despite nearly everyone hating on Justin Bieber these days, the kid is still shacking up in expensive luxury hotels and bringing all his faux-thug drama with him.
Take a look at this photo which made the rounds on the internet over the weekend. This sums up in one picture why you don't want to ever be staying at the same hotel as Bieber (He's in the red backwards hat.) Making it even worse, we discovered the hotel to be the Mandarin Oriental in Miami, one of our favorite hotels there.
Judging from the balcony dividers, Bieber and his crew were clearly in a suite near the top of the hotel. The largest suite at the MO Miami is the Oriental Suite which has over 2,000-sq.ft. of space and a balcony that runs the entire length of the suite. This is probably where Bieber was kicking it. But still, it can only sleeps three people with just one master bedroom and a living room. Let's hope all those people on the balcony had rooms of their own.
In good news for Bieber, the suite does come with complimentary car service to and from the airport, so at least he won't have to drive while high in Miami again.

Last night a DJ did not save anyone's life in Miami. But rather, one DJ caused a major inconvenience for a big South Beach Hotel.
A month ago, we told you how superstar DJ Avicii was taking over the SLS South Beach during Miami Music Week by renaming the hotel, The Avicii Hotel. SLS then promised that guests would be treated to an “EDM-meets-luxury hotel featuring world-class programming and events, exclusive room packages…." Indeed, the SLS transformed itself completely into the Avicii Hotel even putting up the name Avicii above silver SLS letters in front of the hotel.
But it looks like Avicii himself checked out early.
TMZ reports that just before Avicii was to take the stage at Hyde Beach at the hotel for his set, he cancelled. Initial word was that he went to the hospital. TMZ later confirmed that Avicii was discharged from the hospital and that he also checked out of the hotel.
Now, isn't this interesting? We learned from Lindsay Lohan's new reality show, "Lindsay" on the OWN Network, that the troubled star was actually living at the Soho Grand last fall for nearly two months before she was finally allowed to lease the apartment she wanted.
See, what makes this interesting is that we have Soho Grand at the very top of our list of hotels where Lohan isn't welcome. Back in 2007, Lohan had a drunken outburst that ended in her being carried back up to her room and then eventually escorted out of the hotel.
Granted, we published that story before Soho Grand took her in so somewhere over the course of the next few months, Soho Grand had a change of heart. (We suspect more likely the OWN production company convinced the hotel to take her in and showed them the green too.)
But throughout last night's episode, Lohan kept talking about how hotels remind her of her old lifestyle and bad habits and so she was desperate to get out of the hotel. (In a previous episode, before moving to a new room, her personal assistant had to make sure the minibar was empty.)
Hotel Ads / Celebrity Scoop / Mandarin Oriental Hotels / Luxury Hotels / Morgan Freeman / → All Tags
Mandarin Oriental has a lot of fans--both the kind you use to cool yourself down and the kind that means people really like you. But now actor and director Morgan Freeman is coming out as a proud fan and loyal guest of the luxury hotel brand by appearing in their ongoing advertising campaign "He's a Fan/She's a Fan."
Freeman was photographed by Mary McCartney, the portrait photographer of choice for Mandarin Oriental, at the Mandarin Oriental New York. However, he's also a fan of Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park in London because there "quiet means quiet." We can practically hear Freeman saying those words, can't you? (We just hope they give him complimentary internet access whenever he's stays there.)
Other fans of Mandarin Oriental (there are a total of 27) include: Kevin Spacey, Christian Louboutin, IM Pei, Michelle Yeoh, Jane Seymour, Kenzo Takada, Jerry Hall, Vivienne Tam, Liam Neeson, Dame Helen Mirren, Sir David Tang and Harry Connick Jr. To show appreciation for their support, Mandarin Oriental makes a donation to a charity chosen by the celebrity. Freeman chose the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

Things haven't been so, er, bad for "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul since the show ended. He's got a new movie out--"Need for Speed"--and he got to indulge in the luxury hotel scene this weekend in Atlanta at the St. Regis Hotel.
Sources tell us that he was a guest of the hotel over the weekend, making good use of St. Regis Altanta Bar both on Friday and Saturday nights with his wife and several local Atlanta friends ("Need for Speed" was filmed there.)
Because the St. Regis is a respectable spot who won't dish on their celebrity guests, we don't know exactly what room he was in but if we had to guess, we'd say it was one of the hotel's nearly 700-sq.ft. Metropolitan Suites, which are the starting suite accommodations. Here's what's inside:
Celebrity Scoop / Harry Styles / One Direction / Grammy Hotels / Hollywood Hotels / Hotel News / → All Tags
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has always been a fave hangout for celebrities du jour (remember the days of Teddy's?) but we never knew the hotel's pool area was so chill that a boybander could hang with his friends and not get accosted by a ton of screaming fans.
That's exactly what happened with Harry Styles of One Direction the other day. Paparazzi shots show him lounging poolside with his
heinous tattoos signature floppy hair and Calvin Klein undies on full display. Joining him were It fashion girl, Alexa Chung and rock royalty's Pixie Geldof.
According to the Daily Mail, Styles hung poolside for a whopping three hours, largely unnoticed, except by the paparazzi. A fan would come by here and there and Styles would oblige with an autograph or photo. Indeed, one fan got a snap with Styles at the entrance to the Hollywood hotel.
This is quite a contrast to the last time One Direction visited a hotel. Hmm, maybe Harry isn't so hot after all. Strength in numbers, we guess.
Interested in kicking it poolside at the Hollywood Roosevelt? You're in luck. Not only is it extremely warm in LA these days, rooms are open at the hotel this weekend during the Grammy festivities. Rates start at $309 a night but you can split that rate with your most loyal 1D friends.

As we all know, Robin Thicke was in Miami Beach on New Year's Eve, performing at the SLS South Beach for their New Year's Eve party. But what we didn't know was that the "Blurred Lines" singer threw a fit over the small size of his hotel room.
According to Page Six, Thicke demanded to pull out of the performance for a bigger room. He reportedly had his travel agent calling other hotels to get a bigger room. In the end, an SLS rep denied all the drama and said, "Robin has been a great guest.”
So which room did Thicke resist so much? We're not quite sure but the Tower Penthouse starts at around 1,000-sq.ft. with a 552-sq.ft. rooftop terrace. Meanwhile, the Villa Penthouse is a little bigger at 1,117-sq.ft with a 360-sq.ft. wraparound terrace. We think either of these options would have been just fine for Thicke, especially given the size restrictions of these older Art Deco buildings (The SLS was formerly The Ritz Plaza.)
But if they tried to put him in the "puny" 700--sq.ft. SLS suite then we think he had every right to complain. "What rhymes with hug me" indeed.
It's that time of year again: the 2013 HotelChatter Awards! Today and tomorrow, we'll be showcasing the best (and worst) of hotels over the past year. But we couldn't do it without you! Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or shoot us an email. And the Award goes to...
Before we get into this award, the good news here is that Amanda Bynes is doing way better than she was back in July when she trashed a room at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park. Still, the damage that she did to the suite was commendable, by Charlie Sheen standards.
According to TMZ, Bynes was mean to hotel staff (she told one employee she was "too ugly"), smoked way too much weed, littered the room with bottles of Diet Coke, destroyed the desk by rolling joints on it and disgraced the bathroom with crazy amounts of face and make-up products. To top it all off, she disabled a smoke detector. Her total hotel bill was about $9,000 for nine days but she probably paid an additional amount for all this damage. Eventually, the hotel kicked her out and not long after that, Bynes fled to California and was placed in a 5150 psychiatric hold after she set a fire in someone's driveway and doused her dog with gasoline. Ay.
Bynes also had some other memorable hotel moments this year--hot-tubbing with a wig on at the Revel Resort in Atlantic City and going pants-less at the W Times Square. Fortunately for all luxury hotel employees everywhere, these crazy escapades of hers have finally come to an end.
Other notable celeb performances? DMX streaking a Detroit hotel, Sean Penn throwing a lobby tantrum and Angelina Jolie booking Jen Aniston's favorite Sunset Tower suite. But we won't even mention the pop star whose last name rhymes with "cleaver."
That concludes Day 1 of the HotelChatter 2013 Awards! Stay tuned tomorrow for more, including Best Hotel Scene, Best New Service and Hotelier of the Year!
