Photographer Mary McCartney (yes, as in that McCartney) has photographed Liu arriving at her favorite MO hotel Mandarin Oriental New York. Liu was actually born in NYC and says she loves the hotel's proximity to Central Park, along with their "delicious and comforting" Chinese breakfast. We assume that's the Mandarin Oriental breakfast served at the Asiate restaurant (for $36) and through room service and which includes "Soy Chicken Rice Congee, Poached Egg, Chicken Shu Mai Roasted Pork Steamed BunGinger, Cilantro, Pickled Mustard Greens with a Choice of La Colombe Coffee or Tealeaves Green Teas."
Hopefully, being a fan of the MONY means Liu will now have the $1,000 room rate waived.
Liu joins 27 other existing fans of Mandarin Oriental including Freeman, Cecilia Bartoli, Caterina Murino, Sir Peter Blake, Lin Chiling, Karen Mok, Kevin Spacey, Christian Louboutin, Sophie Marceau, IM Pei, Michelle Yeoh, Jane Seymour, Kenzo Takada, Jerry Hall, Vanessa Mae, Vivienne Tam, Barry Humphries, Frederick Forsyth, Darcey Bussell, Bryan Ferry, Liam Neeson, Dame Helen Mirren, Maggie Cheung, Sigourney Weaver, Sir David Tang, Hélène Grimaud and Sa Ding Ding.

Question: What do you get the person who has everything? (This is the question which possibly, probably foxed Brad Pitt as he debated whether to go to a certain celebrity wedding.)
Answer: A ticket to Barcelona for a meal at Hotel Arts. (Shame Brad didn't think of this, he might have got a Venetian holiday out of it.)
Why? Because it’s truffle season, and the hotel’s two Michelin-starred restaurant, Enoteca, is running a special white truffle tasting menu throughout November. It’s not just special because it involves white truffles – the dishes come with wine pairings, and those wines include the award-winning Miraval rosé. Not familiar with said rosé? It’s from Brangelina’s estate in Provence, and is not publicly for sale. Enough said.
If you still wear contact lenses, then chances are you've probably done this trick while staying at a hotel when you've realized that you forgot your contact lens case--you fill up the two glasses in the bathroom with contact lens solution.
We've done this before. (After cleaning out the glasses of course. We'd like to keep our eyeballs, no matter how poorly they function without corrective lenses.)
However, we've always been careful not to drink from these glasses. Sadly, the same can't be said for actress Mindy Kaling during her recent hotel stay in New York. Check out her recent post to Facebook:
So this morning I drank my best friend @joce808 contact lenses. They were sitting in this glass unguarded in a shallow pool of contact solution. I drank it with my morning glug of water and we are debating whether I should have known better given context clues.
Or maybe, having contact lens cases on hand for guest who've forgot theirs is something that Trump Hotels should do. Kimpton does it. That way, Mindy's friend wouldn't have to improvise with the bathroom glasses. (The toiletry on the sink is a giveaway of her hotel stay.)
Either way, we think the incident would be perfect for "The Mindy Project", which chronicles Dr. Mindy Lahiri and her revolving door of boyfriends. #DiamondDanForever

UPDATE, 9.30.14:The wedding was held at the Aman Canal Grande with a brunch to celebrate the couple the following day at the Belmond. As you were.
Lately, our issues with the water world city that is Venice, Italy have been centered around lackluster hotel design and obscene prices. But when you're George Clooney on the eve of your nuptials, none of that even enters your mind. Or so we imagine.
Clooney and his betrothed, Amal Allamuddin, are set to marry this weekend in Venice and according to the Telegraph UK, speculation about where the couple will marry is in "overdrive." Here's the top contender for the wedding site:

...keep track of the visions in her eyes?
Spies told the paper that Oprah trooped down to the Balance Gym at the Fairmont Washington DC in Georgetown and hit the treadmill.
Sporting black athletic pants and a pink top, Winfrey was all smiles and friendly to fellow patrons, we’re told. The only clue that this wasn’t your typical convention attendee burning off last night’s buffet dinner in between sessions: the Divine Ms. O wore fashionable dark sunglasses during her session, spies say.
From now on, we will be wearing sunglasses in the hotel gym. Fake it 'til you make it, ladies! At the very least, it will help us feel slightly less mortified about tripping over the equipment in front of everyone (this actually happened to us last week.)
We lost a great, if controversial and scathing, lady today. Joan Rivers died from complications from a vocal chord surgery last week that caused her to lose consciousness. Even though her prognosis was dismal at best, we still sort of thought she'd pull through and return just in time for Awards Season. But it wasn't meant to be.
Before she went under, Rivers was in the middle of a stand-up comedy tour (yes, at the age of 81) and was set to perform at The Music Box at The Borgata Hotel & Casino on November 22. Obviously, that show is going to be cancelled, although Borgata hasn't made any announcements yet. They could always stream Joan in hologram form and then play clips of her greatest acts. Which would seem fitting for Joan, who wouldn't miss a show (and a paycheck) for anything.
In the meantime, we guess Frank Marino's impersonation act at The Quad Resort & Casino in Las Vegas will have to do instead. Eh.

Yet the humble bell-ringing ceremony that we witnessed at the opening of the very first SLS Hotel in Los Angeles, at the start of a recession, has given way to a bacchanal celebration fit only for a town like Vegas.
SLS has cultivated "a guest list of over 3,000 VIPs, celebs, political figures, media and influencers" who will experience the jaw-dropping $400 million overhaul of the former Sahara casino this Friday night. The invited will sample gourmet cuisine, sip on specialty libations and scope out the guest rooms. Some folks may even decide to gamble!
Capping it all off will be a performance from Iggy Azalea, the hit maker of the summer, thanks to her song, "Fancy." Iggy Igz will perform at The Foxtail Pool stage with a special featured guest. Please dear God/Sam Nazarian, we hope it's Rita Ora.
The special grand opening concert is being put on in partnership with Pepsi. SBE, SLS Hotels parent company, hinted at future headliner events such as this, saying:
Earlier this week, we learned that Snoop Dogg got young and wild and free with some staffers at a UK Holiday Inn Express in Cornwall. But not only did he hang with the staffers, he actually stayed in the hotel as a guest. (With a late check-out of 3pm.)
Now, we'd like to take you back to the days of 2003 when Snoop once worked at a Holiday Inn. Ok, so it was just in a music video for the song "Holidae In" with Chingy and Ludacris. But still, nice to see Snoop is true to what what he raps about.
Just don't light too much of that sticky icky in the hotel room though.

Celebrities: they’re just like us! Or not, in the case of TLC, Lohan et al. But if your faith in celeb hotel guests has been shattered by our story yesterday, here’s one to warm the cockles of your heart: Snoop Dogg is the perfect non-demanding hotel guest.
The Dee Ohh Double G performed an intimate gig in Cornwall at the weekend, but instead of demanding to shack up at one of the county’s finest hotels, he opted for the Holiday Inn Express (or Holidae In Express as he might prefer) in Exeter – a 90-minute drive away. Perhaps he sees the value in free breakfast and WiFi?
Not only that, but he was, according to the hotel, the perfect guest:
”He had a late check out at 3pm and spent time chatting to the staff and having his photo taken with them and customers. He was very pleasant and very polite and happy go lucky.
They left the rooms in an absolutely perfect state.”
He even posed for photos with staff, and they did not get fired afterwards. Best celebrity hotel guest ever?
The types of crazy demands celebrities make when staying in hotels are tales as old as time, or as old as the hotel business. But requesting white tea candles and expensive linens are small-time compared to the outrageous behavior demonstrated by these 5 Worst Celebrity Hotel Guests. Here's who they are and why we hope they start using AirBnB more often:
LINDSAY LOHAN: Aside from ignoring a hotel's no-smoking rules, Lohan uses her guest room as a mini-storage space, carting in tons of clothing and jewelry that she probably won't wear but thinks she needs to wear to keep the paparazzi from catching her in the same outfit twice. Yet the smoke damage and the hoarding can be dealt with. Even the security logistics she requires can be managed. Lohan's biggest problem is that she doesn't have much money yet books suites at nice hotels and is known to run up the tab without ever paying it. And no hotel needs the "exposure" that badly.
Lately, we've been digging Courtyard by Marriott Hotels, thanks to their new, functional room layouts, ever-present free WiFi, nifty media pods and their convenient Bistro cafes. But it turns out Courtyard by Marriott gets no TLC from the 90s R&B band, TLC.
The Smoking Gun uncovered a rider for the band's TLC Reunion Tour (which is just T-Boz and Chilli, RIP LEFT EYE) and after several food specifications--Nobu sushi for Chilli, turkey sandwiches with Miracle Whip for T-Boz, the contract demands suites for the singers in a "5 star hotel." A "4 star hotel" will do “if a 5 Star Hotel is not available in the applicable location.”
And more specifically, under no circumstances shall the ladies be put up in “motels, inns or Courtyard Marriot’s.” AW, SNAP.
TLC may not want no motel scrubs but Courtyard by Marriotts are certainly not on the same level as motels and inns. All you have to do is look at their room rates, which have gone up significantly in the past few years and rarely dip below $100 here in the U.S.
Oh well, TLC may not be chasing waterfalls to stay in a Courtyard but we don't mind. We'll creep, yeah, just keep it on the down low....

Celebrity Scoop / Bret Michaels / Bad Celebrity Behavior / Trashing Hotel Rooms / Lindsay Lohan / → All Tags
Nearly three years after Bret Michaels boasted of "professionally" showing Charlie Sheen how to trash a hotel room, the 80s rock star has let loose with some more "pro" tips. (Bret who? If you're a millennial, here's a tutorial.)
He told Yahoo Travel the following:
“There’s got to be a massive kick, usually into a closet door — a little hollow in there, so you get your foot through it so you feel fired up when it happens,” says Bret.
Always smash things that create noise. “Find a vase or something that’s going to shatter loudly,” says Bret. “Go after the coffee machine — that’s a good one — anything from the minibar. Make sure it’s loud and a lot of glass involved and there are no children within eye-shatter range.” Major warning: Nothing should be thrown out the window, as lawsuits ensue.
Lastly, it’s very important to pay the bill. Bret would know. He’s greeted back with open arms (almost) everywhere. “I’m welcome back anywhere that I destroy, as long as I pay the bill and they can fix the room. It makes for great stories.”
