Celebrities are known for demanding the very best (and bringing out the very worst) in hotels around the world. This week we’ve been uncovering a few of the most outrageous requests divas like J-Lo and Justin Timberlake have made during recent hotel stays.

So it only makes sense that some of these needy nabobs think they can go into the hotel business for themselves. And sure, sometimes it works out (see Gloria Estefan below). But other times? Not so much (see Jay-Z).

We thought it would be interesting to update our Celebrity Hotel Report Card. Especially given the news that set the blogosphere atwitter last week: that Posh Spice was offered $40 million to design a hotel in Dubai!

Introducing HotelChatter's Celebrity Hotel Report Card

Here at HotelChatter, we are closely monitoring the antics of celebrities at hotels. We always love to hear who was a horrible guest, a nice guest (Coldplay) and who was doing things they shouldn't be doing (Kevin Costner, Ralph Fiennes.)

But when a celebrity makes the move from hotel guest to hotelier, there could be trouble ahead. More often than not, these celebrity-backed hotels (and we're not talking anybody in the Trump family) end up having numerous problems like design conflicts and opening delays and as was the case with Nicky O, some don't even see the light of day.

With the announcement that baseball star Reggie Jackson is the developer behind a 250-room hotel in Seaside, Calif. we thought now would be a good time to take stock at the celebrity hotel dreams out there, and where they ended up. That way Mr. October knows exactly what he's getting into.
