Everyone Loves Springtime in Paris

Where: Paris, France
April 23, 2007 at 12:25 PM | by pbb | 0 Comments

The New York Times didn't "Check In, Check Out" this week, but we were happy to find a heavy-duty hotel report from Paris bureau chief Elaine Sciolino. She has a run-down of a dozen Parisian guesthouses, all of which fall under the banner of chic and cheap. (For the Times, that means they cost less than $200 a night.)

Her favorite--the hotel she suggests for her husband's cousin's visit to Paris--is the New Orient Hotel:

Close to the Parc Monceau, filled with both antique and well-worn second-hand furniture, the hotel is homey and very French. Each room is decorated differently. There is Internet service available in the rooms and in the lobby, where postcards are sold. Their room (No. 8) was small, but had a carved bed with a good mattress, an old armoire, a desk and a balcony overlooking the street.

If the New Orient doesn't suit, Budget Travel magazine also has a rundown of Parisian Hotels. The top pick there is the Hotel Caron de Beaumarchais.
