The Hotel Boulderado Turns 100

What’s not to love about Boulder, Colorado?This town of just over 100,000 people was the first in the country to tax itself to preserve open space. Its university, University of Colorado at Boulder, offers valet parking for bikes. Its eclectic roster of residents includes aerospace engineers, Buddhist practitioners, retired Olympians and culinary stars.

For weekend warriors, it’s less than an hour drive from Denver International Airport. If ever there was poster child for proving that having an eco mindset doesn’t mean having to sacrifice the finer things in life, Boulder would be it.

Turkey Day at The St. Julien in Boulder

The St. Julien Hotel in Boulder recently got a shout-out from Conde Nast Traveler as the only hotel in Colorado to make it on the mag's 2008 Readers' Choice Awards for the Top 100 U.S. Hotels. Pretty impressive, considering all those richie rich hotels in Aspen.

If you want to spend Turkey Day out West, the hotel is putting together a Thanksgiving Day Buffet that is $39.95 for adults and $19.95 for children between the ages of three and 12. Seatings are available between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. Expect turkey goodness, sweet and garlic mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables and alcohol in the form of champagne, mimosas and bellinis. Room rates start at $239 a night.

Weekend Hotel Happening: 'Bolder Boulder Pasta Pasta' Dinner at the St. Julien

Hotel: St. Julien Hotel & Spa in Boulder, Colorado

When: Sunday, May 25th. 5:30 to 10pm.

Where: Jill's Restaurant.

What: The night before the 30th annual Bolder Boulder 10K road race taking place on May 26th, the St Julien Hotel & Spa is offering the "Bolder Boulder Pasta Pasta" carbo-loading dinner.

At $19.95 per person, guests can stuff their face with a high-carb dinner prepared by St Julien's Executive Chef Jason Rogers. But nothing's plated here and served to you. Instead there's a "Build Your Own Pasta" bar featuring a variety of pastas, pasta sauces, and toppings.

The hotel will have live music during the dinner and anyone actually running the race and has their 2008 Bolder Boulder bib already will get  50% off their dinner price. Eat up!
