...the Sunset Tower Hotel.

What can only be described as one of the most thrilling events of last night's Golden Globe awards was President Bill Clinton taking to the stage and introducing a clip from "Lincoln", the nominated film from director Steven Spielberg.

It was apparently an unexpected appearance, and we're certain there were more than a few swooning ladies (and men) in the Beverly Hilton's International Ballroom.

So, we're even more delighted to come across this Instagram photo from the hotel saying "Proud to have Former Pres Clinton with us after the #goldenglobes last night."

Normally the STH is home to Vanity Fair's post-Oscar party, so we're not sure if there was a post GG soiree going on, but we're impressed with the prez's choice of digs (it's Jennifer Aniston's go-to) as it's full of character, moderately priced at around $300 a night, and a pretty class act, to boot.

By now, you've probably all seen the photo of Bill Clinton posing with two lovely ladies during a benefit for the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the William J. Clinton Foundation in Monaco at the Hotel de Paris.

Except those two lovely ladies are actually porn stars, Brooklyn Lee and Tasha Reign. Oops.

The luxury hotel right next to the famed Monte Carlo casino has seen its share of celebrity guests before and has even made several movie cameos. But porn stars might be a first. Right now, the hotel has got to be wishing Selena Gomez was back in town.

Nevertheless, the luxury hotel can command about 600 Euros a night for simple yet refined Belle Epoque-styled guestrooms. Can't quite pony up the Euros to stay here? Perhaps a drink at Le Bar Americain will suffice.

Marriott Helps Heal Haiti with New Hotel in Port-Au-Prince

November 29, 2011 at 4:52 PM | by | Comments (0)

For the first time in a long time, the people of Haiti, and in particularly the city of Port-au-Prince, have something to be excited about. After the devastating 7.0 earthquake of January 2010 which killed 316,000 people, left a million homeless and all but decimated the country's economy, Marriott Hotels has announced they will operate a new 173-room hotel in Port-au-Prince (which currently only has 500 hotels room in total), adding 175 new jobs to the economy.

The project is being developed by Digicel Group Ltd. but both Marriott and The Clinton Foundation worked together to bring the hotel to fruition. In fact, President Bill Clinton made the announcement himself last night.

“This new hotel project will stand as a symbol of Haiti’s recovery, providing much needed jobs to the Haitian people and encouraging foreigners to visit, invest and work in Port-au-Prince," said President Clinton. "My Foundation has worked with both Marriott and Digicel, and encouraged them to form this partnership. Their investment proves that Haiti is open for business and on the path to economic recovery."

So far this week we’ve told you about his-and-hers hotel requests by the rich and famous. It’s not just celebrity songstresses and notorious blowhards who require all sorts of fancy amenities at hotels though.

Not ones to stay away from the spotlight, politicians are demanding hotel guests in an entirely different class—often with safety and conferencing requirements that have whole hotel staffs (and national security forces) scrambling. Then again, sometimes all they want is an Atkins bar and some decaf coffee. Here are a few of our favorites that we came across.
