We've shown you all around the newly opened New York Edition hotel, as well as upstairs and downstairs. Now it's time to look at the guest rooms. (And look you should since the Edition's website is still waiting on room photos.)

True to the Edition design formula, the rooms feature neutral-colored furniture and fabrics, save for the dark oak wood paneled foyers and the towering dark walnut headboards. And yes, there is a fur blanket on the bed here.

All rooms also have white oak desks and giant windows to look out of. But not all rooms have scalloped ceilings and not all rooms have views of the Empire State Building. Allow us to tell you which ones do. After all, Edition is an expensive stay so let's be sure you get your money's worth.

The Best Room to Book at The Savoy in London

If you like traditional elegance in a hotel, you can’t really beat the star wattage at London’s Savoy hotel. The place oozes fine service and, to be honest, we were pretty impressed. But great service, location and iconic status often comes with a price tag to match. Luckily, what we were shown as the best room to book at the hotel was not a status symbol suite, but a Luxury King River View--specifically, room 514.

Rooms at The Savoy are decorated in either Edwardian or Art Deco style--although all Luxury King River View rooms are done up in Edwardian--and are pretty darn spacious. But what makes this room so special? It’s the commanding view over the River Thames and the British Eye. We stayed on a higher floor that also looked out over the Thames, but there is something about being a bit lower down at tree-level that makes one feel more "at one" with your green surroundings and dappled sunlit room.

The Best Room To Book at The Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn

Yesterday, we told you where to get the most killer view of Manhattan that's not actually in Manhattan at The Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn. Today, we're showing you more of the The Best Room to Book, which is Room 702, a Manhattan View King room.

In truth, all Manhattan Views at the Wythe will give you a view of the city but the rooms above the 6th floor rooftop bar are slightly bigger and have more windows from which to admire the view.

Other notable amenities in the Wythe rooms:

· All natural and locally made Goldie's Soap products are in the bathroom.
· The locally curated minibar has not only a bottle of Tito's vodka in the freezer and a $100 bottle of Kings County bourbon on the top shelf but also La Quercia prosciutto and Plymouth Cheddar in the refrigerator.
· The Wythe toile wallpaper which we love so much.
· A Wythe Hotel tote which you can use during your stay or buy for $20.
· Heritage G2 radios that look straight out of the 1960s but which actually have an iPod/iPhone hook up.
· Radiant floor heating, in case you were worried about the lack of an area rug.
· Free WiFi

The Best Room to Book at The Loews Regency Hotel on Park Avenue

GUESS THE HOTEL REVEALED!

When we put forth the picture of the pretty room admired by rich and powerful old men the other day, we knew you true hotel nerds wouldn't have a hard time guessing which hotel the room belonged to. Now today, we're here to tell you the Best Room to Book at the Loews Regency Hotel on Park Avenue.

It came as a pleasant surprise to us but the hotel's starting room category, the Luxury King, is actually a very fine room to book. Sure, there are other bigger suites with better Park Avenue views and the upcoming Signature Suites (including one from designer Nate Berkus) are bound to blow guests away, but we really loved that a starting room category here gave you more space than most other luxury hotels in NYC.

Amenities include a generous work table, a stylish chair and ottoman, two closets, a full-length mirror on the wall in which you can clearly see yourself and your outfit (as opposed to on the back of the closet door), and modern technology like a flat-screen TV, a TV-in-mirror in the bathroom and free WiFi.

The bathrooms are tight on space but there's a shower + bath combo and we thought the sink vanity was extra good-looking. And we can't forget about the Julien Farel amenities and hairdryer. Swoon. #goodhairdayseveryday

The Best Room to Book at The Hotel Monaco in Denver

Monte Carlo Suite with King Bed

The Mile High City will have four new hotels opening this year, including the exciting Crawford Hotel in Union Station, so it's easy to see how an "older" property like the Hotel Monaco Denver could get lost in the crowd. And not just amongst competitors, but amongst its own brand as well. A few months ago, we learned that Kimpton will open its second property in the city next year.

But all hope is not lost. The 189-room boutique hotel was renovated back in December of 2010, and during our stay last week, we did not see any signs of aging. During happy hour, between the daily wine hour in the lobby and the crowd at the in-house restaurant Panzano, it was very obvious that the Monaco still has plenty of gas in the tank.

After touring the room options at the Monaco as part of our Best Room to Book series, our recommendation is the Monte Carlo Suite. Starting at $299/night during the summer, the upgrade will typically cost about $50-$80 more than a standard room. For that price, you get 125 more feet of space, which is mostly in the form of a separate sitting area with a pull out couch.

The Best Room(s) To Book At Hotel Erwin

Considering it’s right on Venice Beach (or pretty much right on Venice Beach, anyway), the Hotel Erwin was always going to have top notch views of the Pacific from its rooms.

But, on a recent visit to the rooftop bar, High, we couldn’t help but noticing that not all views are created equal.

From High, the coastline was spectacular – both north, towards Santa Monica, and south, beyond LAX – and the whole rooftop was in the sun.

The Best Room to Book at The Shangri-La Bangkok

Riverside room in the Krungthep Wing

Like Los Angeles, Bangkok is a city that seems to go on forever, sprawling out over a total area of over 600 square miles. This means that there’s no shortage of hotels and no shortage of neighborhoods. But if you’re looking for the finest lodging in the city, it doesn’t get much better than the Shangri-La.

Although its location puts you well outside the city center and quite far from many of the attractions (such as the Grand Palace), cheap taxis, nearby river taxi and public transit stops allow guests to maintain their mobility while indulging in the five-star comfort of the Shangri-La. We don’t need to say much more in that sense – the Shangri-La’s reputation for luxury definitely precedes it – but given that the property in Bangkok has two separate wings with two separate entrances, you might be wondering which is the best room to book.

The Best Room to Book at The Loews Hollywood Hotel

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 1755 N. Highland Avenue [map], Hollywood, CA , United States, 90028

The Loews Hollywood, smack dab in the middle of all things well, Hollywood (like the Dolby Theater, the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Bowl), recently completed a $31 million renovation which has transformed nearly every inch of the property from a former Renaissance by Marriott hotel into a sleek, stylish and cosmopolitan Loews hotel.

While all the guest rooms are sporting the new, heavy-on-the-grays look, the best room to book is clearly this junior suite on the top floor. Room 2017 to be exact.

There isn't a separate sitting room but the suite does has 622-sq.ft of space to spread out in and a sleeper sofa to accommodate an extra guest (or two.) But what's really the star of the show here is the killer view of the Hollywood sign which is entirely unobstructed. You are actually looking out on the hillside where the iconic sign stands. (Our nighttime picture really doesn't do it justice.)

The Best Rooms to Book at Harrah's Southern California are The Newest Ones

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 777 Harrah's Rincon Way [map], Valley Center, CA , United States
May 20, 2014 at 5:26 PM | by | Comments (0)

The Harrah's Resort Southern California, an all-encompassing Vegas-style gaming resort just north of San Diego, has not only undergone a name change (it used to be Harrah's Rincon) but it also added an entirely new tower to its property.

Called The Resort Tower North, the 403-room tower joins the resort's two existing towers and bump up the total room count to 1,065 rooms. But these new tower rooms are clearly the ones you want to book with their modern furniture and decor and upgraded amenities. (Rooms in the older towers are very outdated.)

And if you really want to splurge, book one of Resort Tower North's 48 suites which have a killer views of the neighboring mountains. Check out two of the suite types below!

The Best Room to Book at The Pullman Montparnasse in Paris

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 19 Rue de Commandant René Mouchotte, Paris, France, 75014

The Pullman Montparnasse, formerly a Le Meridien, is in an interesting little neighborhood in Paris' 14th arrondissement. Anchored by the Tour Montparnasse (essentially, a sky scraper) and the Gare Montparnasse (train station), the area lacks some of the gorgeous architecture of central Paris but the hotel's location on Rue de Commandant René Mouchotte puts it near the shops and boutiques of Saint-Germain-des-Prés with a Metro stop closeby and a taxi stop out front.

We liked the neighborhood for its non-touristy feel, even though the hotel itself caters to business travelers, thanks to the Pullman conference center next door and the SNCF headquarters across the street. Still we felt more like we were just amongst local Parisians doing their everyday thing.

But the area is not entirely devoid of history or landmarks. Tucked behind the 25-story hotel is the Montparnasse Cemetery, where many intellectuals and artists are buried such as Claude Baudelaire, Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Paul Sartre, Susan Sontag and even Kiki, the Queen of Montparnasse. And several of the cafes and restaurants in Montparnasse which were patronized by American expats/writers/artists in the 1920s are still operating today.

While it's not across from the Jardin des Tuileries or the Eiffel Tower, it's a different side of Paris to see, especially if you've been to Paris a few times before. So, if you do decide to stay here, what's the best room to book?

The Best Room to Book at The Hotel Victor in South Beach

December 9, 2013 at 4:53 PM | by | Comments (2)

GUESS THE HOTEL REVEALED!

Yes, once upon a time the Hotel Victor hosted a party with P. Diddy and penguins, in the middle of South Beach no less, but today the hotel has a decidedly upscale beach house vibe, rather than over-the-top party spot, all thanks to the new interiors from Yabu Pushelberg.

We got to peek at the $8 million worth of renovations in person the other week and right away we were impressed with the bright and airy lobby area which features communal tables topped with shiny new iMacs and plenty of other comfy lounge seating. (This is a vast improvement from the old days, aka 2006 when a bouncer stood watch at the door and the lobby had weird, dark and stormy vibe, complete with jelly fish sconces.)

At the front of the hotel, near the old entrance, (the new entrance is just off to the side of the existing one and leads guests right to the elevators) is a small but mighty bar that during the day, folds up and looks almost look like an ordinary cabinet. But at night, and during other lobby events, the cabinet unfolds to reveal a beautiful mirrored bar.

The Best Room to Book at the Esperanza Resort in Cabo

November 13, 2013 at 4:16 PM | by | Comments (0)

The Esperanza Resort in Cabo, Mexico has long been a favorite luxury retreat for celebrities and discerning hotel guests alike. And with a super private location nestled above the Sea of Cortez, we can totally see why.

Of course, in a property as luxe as this Auberge resort, all the rooms here could be considered one of the Best Room to Book but we took a particular liking to this one when we strolled through Esperanza last month--Garden Casita 23.
