The Elbow Beach Hotel in Bermuda Gets Moved to Friday Nights

The Elbow Beach Hotel in Bermuda, a Mandarin Oriental hotel, has decided to close down its 100-year-old main building at the end of November because it was pretty much just for show and besides, the hotel is building a newer, better, bigger resort behind it. As if! But remember those days when hotels could do that sort of stuff on a whim?
No, the Elbow Beach Hotel is closing down the old building because of--you guessed it--the economy. And even worse, the hotel is going to lay off about 160 workers between now and November.
ABC News reports that 131 rooms will be closed, leaving essentially only the 98 luxury suites and cottages open to guests. The hotel would like to renovate the old building during its closure (which should last for several years) but there are no firm plans. The hotel will also outsource its food and beverage operations as well.

The Cambridge Beaches Resort Wants You to Take a 'Sensual Journey'

We sure hope you can book this package online because we're not sure we could phone up the Cambridge Beaches Resort & Spa in Bermuda and actually ask out loud for the Sensual Journey Package. This is definitely a decently romantic deal, but it does have that soft-core porn ring to it!
As part of your Sensual Journey, you get fresh flowers, a private butler service and a champagne breakfast (including side bowls of warmed honey and melted chocolate, and you can figure out for yourself what to do with them). Then there is a bunch of spa fun – an Experience Suite, where you get "some one on one time with your partner" (the mind boggles), then a therapist to instruct you in couple's massage, an 80-minute Pagoda treatment, and the Ocean Spa also provides your turndown gift. And you get a romantic picnic in the resort's secret garden, and a private candlelit dinner on the beach.

The Fairmont Southampton Offering $149 Rates (But Only For 1 Week)

If you're missing your Bermuda shorts now that Fall has arrived and want to take them out for a whirl in the real Bermuda, the Fairmont Southampton is offering rates of $149 per night but only for seven days so get booking.
The offer includes a guestroom, complimentary breakfast, unlimited golf for two at the hotel's own golf course, as well as some resort activities over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
The sale begins today at noon (now) and lasts until 11:59pm on October 13. The hotel stay must take place between November 1 and April 16, 2010. The $149 rate does not include taxes, gratuities or resort fees which are a little overboard here.
There's a $10.20 gratuity per person per night and a $9.65 per person resort "levy." Add in taxes and the room is nearly $200 a night. Also that rate is good for a "Moderate Room" category with "no view" as the room description kindly points out. Deluxe Harbour view rooms start at $199 a night.
To book, use the code PTLZ (It's also a Travelzoo special deal.)

The Fairmont Hamilton Princess' 99-Hour Sale Has Rooms For $139 a Night

While Bermuda is a lovely island with pink sand and just an hour and 45 minutes flight from North Carolina, it is also a devastatingly expensive island. For most of the year, it's a bummer on the wallet until summer arrives. That's when you start to see deals like the Fairmont Hamilton Princess' 99 hour sale with rooms priced at $139 a night.
The deal starts tomorrow June 3 and continues until June 5 at 11:50 p.m. EST. The magic promotional code words are: PZOO. Call (800) 441-1414 or book online at www.fairmont.com/hamilton.
Yes, there is a catch to this bargain rate. Guests have to book a minimum of two nights (based on availability) Thursday through Monday nights until October 31, 2009. The deal is only good for new bookings. And of course there are those pesky additional fees: a $9 resort fee and a $10 gratuity charge per person, per night, which they kindly add on to the package price for you.

9 Beaches Wants to Position Itself as a Resort for Bloggers
9 Beaches, that "ultra-casual resort" in Bermuda, has certainly gotten itself entrenched in the ol' social media scene: they've been getting their bloggin' on for a long time (two-esque years), but now the place seems to have gotten tons of web 2.0 action, from YouTube vids to this sort of thing.
Recall 9 Beaches is the place that promises (no, guarantees) 68-degree days, and also was kinda too smelly for a reviewer once (oh yeah; we never let anything go around here). Per the 9 Beaches peeps:
Most recently YouTube videographer Kevin Nalty (fondly known by his online moniker Nalts) visited 9 Beaches and captured her essence on film. He is spot on with his remark, “I am feeding my mojo,” because at 9 Beaches guests unwind and revive at this unexpectedly casual Bermuda resort set amid a natural xeriscape with water views all around.
And also this may be our fave ever the resort people say, "those same easy-goers who run in social media circles are comfortable at 9 Beaches. Here guests can enjoy sophisticated and civilized Bermuda and leave the formal attire at home." What that means to us: the same people who sit around and blog in sweatpants all day long (which could be us sometimes...) will enjoy not having to go shopping for real-world clothes before going on a trip."
Teehee. Rates start at $280 for double occupancy, bloggers.

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Open New Hotel in Bermuda

Apparently it's been 37 years since Bermuda has gotten a new luxury hotel, which means every other old hotel probably needs a fresh coat of paint and renovation.
Tucker’s Point Hotel & Spa had its ribbon-cutting last night, and Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, who are Bermuda residents and chair-people for the hotel, were there to mug for the cameras. (Too bad Kathleen Turner and the boys of Ocean's 11 weren't there to rob some jewels and pull off a casino heist.)
Hollywood fantasy aside, this hotel looks very very fancy. The website is sleek with some serious photo and floorplan porn.

9 Beaches in Bermuda Guarantees 68-Degree Days

If you could humor us for a second, let’s play a quick round of word association: April. Spring storms. A Dark & Stormy (as in, the rum and ginger beer libation that’s the national drink of Bermuda). 9 Beaches in Bermuda!
Which brings us to our topic of the hour: 9 Beaches resort opens for its fifth season tomorrow. (Effortless transition, no?) If you want, you can pack your Bermuda shorts and tanks, because we’re talking about “Bermuda’s only ultra-casual resort,” where “flip flops are fashionable, and neither jackets nor ties are required.”

Come On, Pretty Mama, to Bermuda's Cambridge Beaches
So, you were reading Jaunted and saw that today happens to be that big huge JetBlue sale so you snapped up two tickets to Bermuda for you and your honey at dirt-cheap prices. But, um, you didn't think about a hotel, and you don't really want to take your babe to a place that could be described using the words "dirt" and "cheap" at all.
May we suggest the super-posh Cambridge Beaches Resort, a 94-room property (with Bermuda-style cottages) sitting on a private peninsula?
