Yes, folks, this NEC NP600SG projector could be yours.

Everything—and we do mean everything must go at London's Swissôtel The Howard, which is set to auction off its entire contents on October 25th and 26th. We're talking luxe bedroom furniture, kitchen equipment, and even miscellany from the housekeeping department (old push carts? Used feather dusters?): from lobby to top floor, all from the sister hotel to The Savoy has gotta move, move, move.

Yet Another Auction Site is on The Block: This Time, It's itsyBiD

Another hotel auction site?! Yes, indeedy. But before you start to panic about trying to figure out yet another one, look at this shot of the pool at the Atlantic Hotel in Fort Lauderdale. We're finding it hard to keep with all the new Hotel Auction Sites, too, but if anything will inspire us to give them all a whirl, it's the fast-approaching winter and our desire to get away to fancy places for a whole let less.

So, how can itsyBiD help us do that? The system sounds similar to that of Off & Away, where, after you register, you must purchase bids to start playing a kind of luxury hotel bingo.

Blind Booking Bingo: Luxury Link Is Giving Away Mystery Trips for A Buck

July 21, 2010 at 10:00 AM | by | ()

We've been known to try our luck with blind booking for hotels around here, but we're still green when it comes to blind booking an entire trip. This latest promotion from booking site, Luxury Link may just get us to take the plunge, though. (But will it land us in a villa with a plunge pool?)

This summer, Luxury Link is letting one Mystery Auction winner each month take their trip for a buck—yep, they'll override the final bid and charge just $1 for the package.

The site's Mystery Auctions are typically packages that include four nights accommodation, transfers, breakfast, and excursions or resort credit. Two mystery properties are featured each week, with a starting bid of $1.

New Travel Site 'Off & Away' is Auctioning Off the Best Suites in the House

May 24, 2010 at 3:45 PM | by | ()

This year, we've already seen the rapid rise of Private Sales for hotels where guests get steep discounts on luxury properties in hot destination markets. We've also seen the rise of a few new blind booking options which give guests incredible discounts but without telling them the name of the hotel until after their credit card has been charged. (It's not for the faint of heart.)

Well now, there's yet another option for hotel deals, except this one doesn't quite work like the rest of them. And the rooms are definitely not the stale oversupply hoteliers are desperate to sell-off.

Off & Away is a travel auction site that allows guests to bid on the best suites in hotels. Like, seriously, the BEST suites in hotels. We're talking the presidential suite at The Pierre, the Parlor Suites at The Wynn, the Duplex Suite at The Chambers and other rooms bigger than our apartments which we often fantasize about here.

Already you can tell this is not a site to hit up when you have a budget of $100 for two nights. But if you're the kind of person who loves to score luxury for less, then Off & Away is a fun way to do it. And who knows, you may be living large in a suite on your next trip.
