One of the caveats of being a business traveler is never getting to eat the wonderful food in the destination they travel to. Seriously… some hotels in NYC don't even offer a New York slice! What up with that? Hotel Indigo witnessed all the sad faces and recently released the "Not All Business" package throughout their hotels.
For business travelers who don't have the time or opportunity to explore local foods and neighborhoods, Hotel Indigo brings the local taste to them. All hotels now highlight regionally sourced ingredients for a complimentary breakfast and cocktail, like the organic locally roasted coffee beans featured in the Espresso Martini at Hotel Indigo Asheville or local stone ground grits (ground specifically by a mule named Luke) at Hotel Indigo Athens. We especially like the "pain perdu" with Leidenheimer Baking Company French breast and bananas Foster syrup at the new Hotel Indigo New Orleans Garden District.

Ready or not, Aloft is slowly infiltrating every corner of the world—India, China, and the US are all in line for multiple openings this year. And it was announced last week that South Korea is even set to get its first Aloft by 2014.
But in the more immediate future, we're looking at two US openings this month: Aloft Asheville on Aug 23 and Aloft SFO on Aug 30. One will be a place to retreat from (or invite back to your hotel room) all the ukulele-strumming Blue Ridge Mountain hippies. The other will be a place to lament your delayed flight. Both will spoil you with free WiFi.
Every so often we feature a hotel review from our readers that we feel should be shared with the rest of you dear hotel guests. These reviews are highlighted because they are timely, about cool hotels in cool places and are relatively level-headed. Think you can submit one just like this? Send it in.
A modern boutique hotel in Asheville? Such a thing didn't exist until the Hotel Indigo (part of the ICH group) opened its doors last fall. On my recent trip to what I learned is considered the "San Francisco of the east" my partner and I stayed there to check things out.
While the property is located smack against the interstate, which initially turned me off, that all changed once we walked inside. The lobby is modern, sleek, and inviting, during the day, with a large reception desk. Check-in was a breeze after they realized we weren't with the woman who walked in before us.
