It’s easy to find a hotel in Seefeld, one of the greatest destinations for cross-country skiing in the Austria. The town has one of the highest concentrations of five star hotels in Austria.
While the four star AlpenMedHotel Lamm doesn’t rank among the town’s most luxurious, it has something that few hotels in the word have: a cryotherapy chamber.

Lech and Zürs, two neighboring towns in Austria’s Vorarlberg region, are among the country’s most fashionable ski resorts. Skiers love the ski pass system here, in which passes are valid on a huge network of lifts spanning several towns.
Zürs is solely a ski town, with no actual residents just a row of hotels, which is why the more year-round Lech attracted me more. Lech, too, has tons of hotels, and the central Die Krone Von Lech is one of its stand-outs.

Despite its location smack in the center of Kitzbühel, rooms at the Hotel Schwarzer Adler have gorgeous mountain views, some with floor-to-ceiling windows. The spacious rooms feature either a cozy country-style decor or a sleek and minimalist one, all with high-tech amenities like iPod docking stations, stereo systems, and flat-screen TVs.

The financial crisis rocking the world certainly wasn’t visibly affecting Austria’s ritzy Alpine ski resorts last month, where the snow is deep, the après ski scene is just as vital as the skiing itself, and the luxury hotels seem to be doing brisk business.
Austrians start learning to ski almost as soon as they can walk, which can make skiing in the Alps intimidating for the less-proficient. While each town/resort has a different feel and attracts a different sort of visitor, even non-skiers will love the Alps, especially if they’re holed-up in one of the area’s slew of gorgeous hotels.

Kitzbühel is one of Austria’s poshest Alpine towns, and while there are budget accommodations to be found, those without thick wallets might feel out of place here. Kitzbühel has more than skiing to brag about--it’s also one of the loveliest towns in the Alps, with Medieval churches, tidy cobble-stoned streets, and snow-topped mountains in every direction.
And the Hotel Schloss Lebenberg seems to be made for most of Kitzbühel’s monied visitors.
