Andre Balazs's Next Hotel May Open in New York

UPDATE: A reliable tipster tells us the address of the new AB Hotel is 345 West 14th Street, which would mean it's not in the buildings shown above. And the plot thickens.

We always take rumors of a new Andre Balazs hotel here very seriously, as evidenced by our map of both real and rumored AB Hotels.

However, his next location is probably more worthy of a "real" classification than a "rumored" depending on whether you put stock in Curbed, which we do.

We had previously gotten a tip that that the location would be a private club but Curbed is reporting that Balazs will indeed open a new hotel at 320-324 West 14th Street in a group of three run-down walk-up (hah, that's sorta funny) buildings between eighth and ninth avenues. Curbed writes:

According to our source, Balazs has some tricks up his sleeve for this one, like working fireplaces in every hotel room. Yowza.

Hmm...this sounds alot like Lafayette House to us. And it's actually quite close to the sister property of Lafayette House, the Maritime. And the hoteliers behind those two hotels--Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode--are planning another one at Hotel Riverview on nearby Jane Street. We predict a hotelier smackdown in the West Village!

Still, Curbed is not saying the AB Hotel is 100 percent legit. But we hope it is as hotel guests need more options downtown.

The Newest Rumored Andre Balazs Hotel: Sin City

Somehow we got caught up in reading Robin Leach's Luxe Life Vegas blog the other day. Normally, we would chide ourselves for breaking our 2008 resolution of not being so celeb-obsessed but this bit of ADD internet surfing actually paid off.

A post from the end of December details some enormous Vegas project that's happening behind the strip.

Over 60-acres of land stretching down Harmon between the Planet Hollywood resort and condo towers to the Hard Rock hotel has been packaged together by the Africa-Israel Investment Bank, which is controlled by Israeli billionaire Lev Leviev.

Several boutique hotels are planned for this parcel, so says Robin. Giuseppee Cipriani will plan a boutique hotel and the planned Elvis Presley-themed hotel should pop up here.

And Robin says he's been "reliably told" that Andre Balazs will open a boutique hotel there. So up it goes on the Andre Balazs Hotels: The Real and the Rumored Map. While this is interesting for sure--will it be a Standard Hotel or something completely new?--everyone is looking to do something in Vegas these days. So we expect all these boutique hoteliers to look to Sin City.

One more interesting thing: Robin also mentions a large 2,500 room luxury complex will spring up in this parcel--"probably a hip trendy W hotel," he says. Oh god, here we go again.

Andre Balazs: Another Hotel in the Highline or Just a Private Club?

We got a tip that Andre Balazs would be creating another hotel just blocks away from his rising Standard Hotel in Manhattan's Highline project.

We were fully about to put this hotel on our Andre Balazs: The Real and The Rumored map but when we did some brief internet research we found this article from last January from the Real Deal that said:

Andre Balazs, who is developing the Standard New York hotel at 844 Washington Street and a private club on 10th Avenue and 14th Street....

So we are going to refrain from adding it to the map. Currently, the address is the site of the old Cudahy Cold Storage facility which was built in 1932 by New York Central Railroad Company.

If you have any more detes about this private club from AB, let us know. We just hope it doesn't feature any beavers.

Andre Balazs Hotels:: The Real and The Rumored

Where will Andre Balazs open his next hotel? We already know about the established AB Hotels--Mercer, Chateau, the Standards in LA, the upcoming Standard NYC and the Raleigh--but we're also hearing of some other projects in places like London, Seattle, Chicago, St. Barths and the Bahamas.

So just to help you visualize Page Six's favorite hotelier's pending hotel expansion or his hotel pipe dreams, however you see it, we've cobbled together an AB Hotels Map. Here you can see where Andre has his hotels and where he's been rumored to set up next. Most recently, a HotelChatter reader let us know that Balazs has a map point of his own in St. Barths on the Raleigh hotel website. Could this be yet another AB Hotels location? Who knows but we mapped it just in case.
