When we think of the JW Marriott Grosvenor House, we mainly think of two things: its gigantic 60,000+ sq ft meeting facilities (a sit-down dinner for 1,200 people? No problem!), and its very Mayfair décor (think dark woods, deep reds, heavy drapes).

The latter made us take notice of the pictures of its new Executive Lounge, which goes in a very different direction design-wise, with a much lighter, more contemporary look. There’s even a ‘media wall’ near reception, which we assume is visible above on the far left with digital images of the greenery of Hyde Park. Located on the ground floor of the hotel, the revamped space was opened recently; check out a few more snaps below.

The lounge is open daily from 6am to midnight and accessible for guests staying in Executive Rooms and Suites, as well as Marriott Rewards members with the right status. Check-in and check-out is available in the lounge, as well as shower facilities for those coming off of long-haul flights early in the morning before check-in is possible.

Breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening canapés are served, with snacks available all day. We like the sound of the 'Grab-and-Go' station, where you can pick something up on your way out.

Executive Rooms and Suites also come with free WiFi, and there’s WiFi in the lounge, but we’d like to see that extended to all accommodation of course. An Executive Room starts at £399 ($662) a night on a Saturday in September, but you can bring that down to £279 ($463) if you’re willing to prepay.
