Warm chocolate-chip cookies at check-in have arrived harbor-side in Los Angeles, with the Hotel MdR in Marina del Rey completing its renovation and joining DoubleTree Hotels.

$7.5 million of refreshments went into both an interior and exterior spruce-up, ranging from a new lobby and revamped pool area to refreshed guestrooms. The last stop on the renovation track has been the opening of restaurant Barbianca Local Kitchen. More shots from inside below.

The 283 rooms aren’t particularly revolutionary, landing on the safe side of business neutral, with a mix of whites, blues, and dark wood. WiFi is free throughout the hotel.

Barbianca Local Kitchen has a retractable wall to open the space up to the outdoors (visible towards the back in the above picture) and serves “an ingredient-focused menu consisting of traditional Italian favorites with a unique twist and utilizes sustainable and organic practices to serve up northern Italian favorites with a dash of Napa Valley sensibilities”. That’s a mouthful, but now we are kind of hungry.

A King Room at the MdR goes for $289 on the last Saturday of August. For $20 more, you get a view of the pool.
