Introducing our newest hotel guide--HotelChatter's Must Stay Hotels--where we pick four hotels for four different types of travelers in a particular neighborhood of one major city. This is also a seasonal guide so the options may change depending on when you're going. Got a question about where to stay and when? Email us.

Looking for a hotel in Istanbul? You can troll online review sites, crowdsource on Facebook and comb through endless “Best Hotels” lists but why do all that when we’ve done all the work for you already?

Istanbul is famously enormous – if spanning two continents wasn't enough, it also enjoys the largest urban sprawl in Europe – so location is key for getting the most out of your stay. If you’re going for work, you’re probably going to be spending most of your time well away from Beyoglu and Sultanahmet - you’ll be in the ‘business triangle’ north and east of Beyoglu that encompasses Levent, Besiktas and Sisli. Obviously these are all suitable for business, but some business hotels are more ‘business’ than others.

BOUTIQUE

HOUSE HOTEL NISANTISI: Proof that a business hotel doesn’t have to be boring, our favorite Istanbul chain House Hotels owns this chic townhouse on top of the Prada store in ritzy Nisantisi. Sleek, modern rooms with interiors by Autoban, glass-walled bathrooms (with blinds) and inroom cocktail shakers make this a business hotel with an edge.
Room Rate: From €253 ($338) for a classic king.
Address: Harbiye Mh, Abdi Ipekçi Caddesi 34.

LUXE

ISTANBUL EDITION : The Edition is a hotel that could attract even tourists to Levent for its sexy ‘soaped oak’ and ‘dark rosewood’ rooms. Specially commissioned Le Labo toiletries and glass-walled bathrooms (which are, we already established, ok in a business hotel) looking out through gargantuan windows make this especially sexy.
Room Rate: From €195 ($260) for a superior room.
Address: Buyukdere Caddesi 136.

BUSINESS

LE MERIDIEN ISTANBUL ETILER: The perfect business location – right in Levent, and close to shopping malls, but with views of the Bosphorus (past a main road) from its tower, the Etiler is a slick Le Meridien property with floor-to-ceiling windows and nods to its location with lanterns by the bedside. WiFi is not free though.
Room Rate: From €200 ($267) for a deluxe king.
Address: Cengiz Topel Caddesi 39.

VALUE

RADISSON BLU ISTANBUL SISLI: You know what you’re getting with a Radisson Blu, and this is a solid, well-priced hotel in Sisli. Rooms are chic if slightly businessy, but the open plan lobby is spectacular, and the rooftop pool is a definite plus, too.
Room Rate: From €112 ($150) for a standard room.
Address:19 Mayis Caddesi 2.
