Lamps aside, we loved the Attwater. It’s a small but perfectly formed hotel: bright, fun rooms, cosy public areas and a sweet breakfast (scones and muffins made daily on the premises – gettt innnn). They’re good on the tech front, too: each room has an iPad loaded with local tips, as well as an Apple TV and iPod docking station. As for service levels, we came down with some kind of plague in Newport and were too sick to travel when due to check out – instead of taking advantage, the hotel switched us to its only remaining room, the (biggest) Lark Suite, for just a tiny bit more than we’d paid for our original room in a Jetsetter flash sale. Lifesavers.
All that, of course, pales in comparison to the lamps, though.
