Guess the Hotel With The Creepy Hipster Lobby Display

This isn’t what it looks like.

It looks like any other West Coast hipster hotel, trying to be quirky with its odd lobby collection of books, maps, magazines, bottles and suitcases.

But here’s where it gets creepy: all this stuff, apart from the books, is what was found in the hotel when the present owners bought the building in 2007.

Before that, it had been abandoned for 43 years. As if the previous owners went out grocery shopping and never came back. Pretty spooky – even for a town that’s seen its fair share of violence, back in the days of gangs and murderers and abductions – many of whom were abducted to serve in the military.

Oh, and those aren’t bottles in the top picture. Or torpedoes. They’re little bits of maritime history. As we learned when we stumbled in after a coffee at the onsite hipster café.

The hotel originally had 24 rooms: here's what they looked like when it was opened up in 2007:

Now there are just 18 rooms, but in a nod to its boarding house history, not all of those have private bathrooms.

Think you know where this is? Drop your guesses in comments below, and we’ll reveal all tomorrow.
