Name the Upcoming Monaco Pittsburgh's Suite and Be the First to Stay in It This Fall

Kimpton’s soon-to-be newest property takes us to Pittsburgh, a city we don’t hear much about in terms of its hotel scene. Like its state rival Philadelphia, the Steel City has a history of being a blue-collar town, one not exactly known for luxury and boutique properties. But Philly has certainly changed its ways, so why can’t Pittsburgh?

In October, the Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh will open as both Kimpton’s first venture into the city and will look to compete with other traditional luxury hotels in the vicinity, such as the Renaissance, Omni, and Fairmont.

To be located at 6th Avenue and William Penn Place, the Monaco plans to pair the original Beaux Arts architecture of the building with classic Steel City local flavor – think yellow, black, and white colors – throughout nine stories and 248 guestrooms. Rates will start at $219 a night.

As the finishing touches are put on the property, the hotel is holding a contest for residents of PA and Ohio via Facebook to name its one-bedroom spa suites. Now through July 30th, you can submit a “locally-inspired” name suggestion on the page using the hashtag #SoundsSoSuite (limit one entry per person). Three finalists will be selected and then another round of voting will run August 4th through August 11th.

The Grand Prize winner with the most likes for his or her name suggestion will be the first to stay in the suite on the hotel’s opening night in October and will also get dinner for two at the restaurant. Name it and be the first to stay in it? That's basically like having your own suite, right?

It's as close as most of us will ever get, so props to whoever wins that contest. We can't enter due to our location, but we look forward to seeing the Kimpton up and running this fall.
