Park Hyatt Vienna Has Opened, Complete With Cigar Lounge
Vienna is already a city of top tier hotels, but, as of this week, it has one more: wilkommen, Park Hyatt Vienna!
Park Hyatt’s first incursion into Austria, the hotel opened June 2, just a day late (unless you count the original plan to open in 2013). It’s in a nice, slightly different position from most of the other lux hotels: on the slightly less touristy northwestern side of the Innere Stadt.
There are 143 rooms, and a restaurant, bar, and cigar and whisky lounge (possibly copying the nearby Kempinski’s). The spa boasts a pool in the old bank vault, and uses Sodashi products for its treatments.
No photos beyond the renderings from last year, as of yet, other than the Pearl bar, above; but by the looks of this video, it all looks pretty fabulous. (Apart from the racial stereotyping, that is. What is that about?) It's bold, it's chic, it's Vienna done with a flourish... in fact, yes, its public areas are so grand that they slightly remind us of the Kempinski, so this could get interesting.
Rates look pretty steady throughout the summer at €375 ($510), or €338 prepaid in advance. That’s just a wee bit higher than we predicted. Blame inflation!
