Introducing our newest hotel guide--HotelChatter's Must Stay Hotels--where we pick four hotels for four different types of travelers in a particular neighborhood of one major city, starting with New York. This is also a seasonal guide so the options may change depending on when you're going. Got a question about where to stay and when? Email us.

Looking for a hotel in New York City? You can troll online review sites, crowdsource on Facebook and comb through endless “Best Hotels” lists but why do all that when we’ve done all the work for you already?

Here are four different hotels to try amongst the nooks and crannies of Downtown aka Lower Manhattan. So whether you’re going for pleasure or work and whether you’ve got cash to throw around or have pennies to count, these hotels will fulfill your needs. One common thread running through these hotel picks? They have all free WiFi. So during your stay, you can write us a thank you email for the recommendation.

THE LUDLOW: This newly opened hotel on the Lower East Side from Sean MacPherson (he of The Bowery and The Jane fame) features glam guest rooms with hard wood floors, handmade silk rugs, Indo-Portuguese style beds and exclusive Red Flower toiletries. The hotel's grand opening will be in September, so this summer might be your one chance to book an affordable room.
Room Rate: $175 a night for a special opening rate.
Address: 180 Ludlow Street between E. Houston and Stanton.

THE GREENWICH : Robert DeNiro doesn't mess around when it comes to his hotel in Tribeca. Each of the 88 rooms are different from one another but all have Duxiana beds, bathrooms with either hand laid Moroccan tile or Italian Carrara marble, flat-screen TVs and complimentary minibar snacks. Downstairs is the excellent Locanda Verde restaurant and below that, the Shibui Spa with an indoor swimming pool.
Room Rate: $550 a night for a courtyard room.
Address: 377 Greenwich Street at N. Moore

ANDAZ WALL STREET : Aside from the perfect address on Wall Street, Andaz has some of the largest guest rooms in town. Go Wolf-style and book the Large King for the nifty rotating closets which keep your clothes not just looking sharp but convenient to reach. There's also plenty of communal spaces downstairs for meetings, as well as a spa that offers in-room treatments. And of course, do drinks at Bar Seven Five to celebrate closing a big deal.
Room Rate: $425 a night, during the week.
Address: 75 Wall Street, on the corner of Pearl and Wall.

HILTON GARDEN INN TRIBECA: The hotel is next to Canal Street's A,C,E subway stop making it super convenient to get around. As with all HGI's you can expect small refrigerators and microwaves in the room and free WiFi and hot breakfast and a 24-hour Pavilion Pantry Market downstairs. There's also a gastropub, AOA Bar & Grill downstairs. The rooms are ho-hum but you'll be gone all day, right?
Room Rate: $209 a night.
Address: 39 Avenue of the Americas below Canal Street.
