W Hotels is in the second wave of $100 million of renovations to its North American portfolio, of which Mexico City is a major market. W Mexico City was the first to open under this brand in Mexico in 2003, and we reported that two new hotels are planned to open next year, W Santa Fe, and W Kanai Retreat.
The first renovated areas to be unveiled, so to speak, are the hotel’s Living Room spaces. The photo above shows off a theatrical and highly reflective lobby where things are definitely not as they seem. This is not your mother’s living room, nor any of ours for that matter.
Instead, guests are invited on a magical journey to discover secrets within the hotel’s new design. For example, the seating area of larger-than-life mask chairs surrounds an inverted pyramid that reportedly reveals hidden messages only at night. Anyone care to share these with us?
This designer fun house was conceived by New York-based architectural and interior design firm nemaworkshop, who is also re-imagining the guest rooms and suites. Should we then be looking for secret messages under the bed?
Another secret that was revealed early on is that the hotel's public restrooms have a private tequila bar. We’ll be right back.
